Another Number Game
3 dudes be goin to a hotel. They wanna a room with 3 beds, so the guy said:
"it'll cost $30.00" So each guy gives $10.00, and tells the bellboy to bring up the bags. Ten minutes later the bellboy knocked on the door with the bags in his hands, and said: "we forgot about the special rate right now, the room is only $25.00!" and he gives them back $5.00. So each guy took a dollar each (= $3.00) and gave the bellboy a $2.00 tip. So then each guy paid $9.00 for the room, and the bellboy got tipped $2.00. DO the math......9 x 3 = 27...........27 + 2 = 29............ $29.00.....where did the other $1.00 go? |
I Dunno....
|
So each guy took a dollar each (= $3.00) and gave the bellboy a $2.00 tip
If They All Gave A Dollar Each, Why Is It A $2 Tip? Its Three, Thats where Its Missing?? |
$25.00 for the room devided by 3 means they each paid 8.33 for the room, and they each have $1 left in their pockets. Add a $1 to $8.33 = $9.33. $9.33 x 3 + the $2 that was given as a tip = $30.
well, there's 30 seconds of my life i will never have back. |
Quote:
no. $5.00 (refund) - $3.00 (each) = $2.00 (tip) They took $1.00 back, which means they only paid $9.00 each. The $5.00 refund got split evenly with the three of them, and the $2.00 leftover went to the tip. |
Nothing happened. There was no "other dollar".
The three men had paid $9 each, or a total of $27". $25 went for the hotel room, and the bellhop kept the remaining $2. |
i had a thread like this the other day which had riddles in but it got deleted y????

No. $30.00 to Hotel. $5.00 back to guys $1.00 to each guy ($3) $2.00 to bellboy So $9.00 each guy to Hotel ($27) $2.00 to bellboy 27+2= Total $29.00 Where's the other dollar, they started with $30.oo didn't they? |
ummm, who fuckin cares???

^he's right hotel room= 25 total bell boy= 2 The men split=3 25+2+3=30 Phate is 100% correct. they each payed 9.33 on the room, 1 for themselves and .66 to the bellboy ^times that by 3 men and you get 30 I dont see what the problem is -W1 |
Quote:
Yea, I know, but it's how you say it. They paid $10 at first, then they got $1 back, so they each paid $9, gave $2 to bellboy, so it's 27 + 2 = 29! |
there was no dollar...if u read everything correctly u'd kno tha bullshit math at tha bottom is wrong
which means one of tha 3 paid less than tha other 2 they need an accountant or sumthin :) |
^Nope...
They paid the same amount... And if you do the math, there is no other dollar... I think people are just scared away by fractions/decimals, and that's why some people get confused on this one... -W1 |
doesn't matter...has nuthin to do with me or my money so i don't care i'm wrong in this situation :)

Yes, the answer to this is on every stupid ass riddle site on the internet, you are to worried about adding it up to 30, but it wont, there was no other dollar. They each put in 10, and got a doller back, which means they each put in 9, that is 27, the room was 25, and the bellboy got 2. If you are going to post a riddle you should know the correct answer, moron. |
Quote:
If they each paid 9.33 for the room it would be more than 25, and they would have got 67 cents back instead of a dollar. You are wrong, deal with it. |
^^^just want to point out that i didn't say they paid 9.33 for the room. I said each paid 8.33 for the room and they each have $1 in their pockets. so the equation once again is:
8.33 x 3 = $25 1.00 x 3 = $3 2.00 x 1 = $2 ----- = $30 The riddle is based on the false statement: They each paid $9.00. When in fact they each paid 8.33 dollars, kept a dollar each from the change, and paid .66 cents each to the bellboy from the change. another 30 seconds wasted.... |
The riddle doesn't ask how much each man paid for what, it asks where is the other dollar, which is the trick because there is no other dollar. Canuck brought the riddle here and cant even grasp it, what the fuck?
|
ok, i'll try to put kgm's explanation in lamen's:
now tha first part of the math: the 5 dollars back--simple-- 30 - 5 = 25 right now there is 25 paid for the room... then, the math for the five dollars --also simple-- (5 - 2) = 3 , 3 / 3 = 1 so each gets one dollar apiece... now, forget 9 paid multiplied by 3 for each payin and instead look at the 3 dollars that comes back from the refund... add this to the 25 dollars that is paid for the room... --simple-- 25 + 3 = 28 the rest should be easy for grade schoolers: 30 - 28 = 2 this is the 2 dollars that the bellboy gets... 25 + 3 + 2 = 30 and that's just logic... |
Y isnt this thread closed???loki just closed 1 of mine similair
