Rhyme Books....
I just bought me a new one today, seing as im gettin more oppertunitys with studio time...(Free Studio Time at college, And a Local Label Buggin me for a demo)
Iv obviously had some before, But iv nevertaken much notice in keeping them to see how i was back then.... Now my surroundings are changing, i feel the need to respect my "Rhyme Books" more.... What about you and your best friend..?? (lol) |
i always end up losing my `rhyme book` so i always carry a ball point pen and write on my hand / arm mostly. .

Yea i always carry a pen and a sheet of paper cause ill be sittin there an come up wit a line an it pisses me off when i have nothing to write it on an i tell myself "i have to write that down when i get home" an i end up forgetting it....i end up pullin my hair out cause i cant remember it.

I use of one my old school books from about 3 years ago, theres about 1 page of science on it n' about 80 wit rhymes..lol...
hate it when u come up with a dope line n' you have nuttin to write on..happened to me during my exams, lets just say my English exam paper had a few 'rips' in it. |
I name my lines....Then, wen i hear a name or sumthin that might asociate with the name i gave my line, ill remember the line....
Even though i dont really care about a line i fergot....Ill jus think of sumthing ells.. By the way...The name thing is herbish...The type of thing u do wen u 1st join a Rap Forum..... |

best thing 2 do is not write em til they perfect, saves time and elevates you lyrically, i zone out in everyone of my classes, and at basketball practice, mostly thinking of lines from common conversation, thats where the best lines come from and if you are scrambling for a notebook then you'll miss something. so don't write shit til its perfect.Everything i write is perfect so i don't have that problem...lol

If one suddenly comes to my head when i cant get to a pen and paper I save it into my phone which I never leave anywhere and when I can I work on it and usually add it in an open mic a few days later or somethin.
But theres been times where I've thought of somethin and in the process of puttin my hand in my pocket and gettin my phone out.....I've forgotten it, and it bugs me for the rest of the day. |
I have three currently, basically just jot down the odd idea or try to put down how im feeling then re-take on it later and put it into perspective.

I go through my college bag sometimes, and pour out a load of scrunched up papers....Mayb about 30 of them.. All papers i got from my mates at college....

I have a damn good memory for that kinda shit. So, I can normally just remember everything I think of. I used to have a rhyme book, but I kept losing them. So, fuck it. I keep a pen on me...if I got something loose around me to write on, I will. Then I'll get to a computer and e-mail the shit to myself. I have about 30+ e-mails to myself of shit I've written on kleenex's(Shit's a pain), loose paper, advertisements, pamphlets...shit like that.

Come on kids get with the new millenium, I mean damn if you guy's are still carring around pens and paper that is just funny to me. Well, I do keep a back up pen. It's called a voice recorder, or a MP3 (preferably WMA) player with record function w/built in mic. You can keep an archive of thoughts on the damn things. I do not leave home without one. Not to mention it's a great great way to quickly record an impromtu session, just for futrue playback reference. You guy's have to ditch the paper, or at least save it for the final draft. I only write in my book when we're actually cutting the track, or sending out for the copyright. Over the years I have Learned paper gets lost, and burns. Yes we had stuff burnt, it was our own fault, fucking around and them pOOF, all the words gone. Get with the times... Plus you could black male the shit out of your friends, just record some girl truning them down, and threaten to play it back for an audence. I tell you what, you wont be the one paying for the drinks that night out.

No, but for real, i dont write o down my rhymes any more unless its for an audio track.. Simple facts, fuck saving a punch, or a 2 bar multi.. Yes i do have a few years of shit spit into books an lose paper over the years, even had those little pocket note pads, but im past that unless its for audio... Dont see the point.... And if ima audio, im get it done not wait. |

And Thanx F.M..... My Rhyme Book is for basicly ciphering with myself...I dont carry one around to write a song i might use....I use it to jott feelings... But now that things are finaly changin,i.e, Quality recording,I feel like i need to concentrate more on my Rhyme Book than actualy gettin some Studio Time.... Ill never write a verse i might use in a rhyme book... Ohh and T.R, I was writtin b4 i joined any Hip Hop Board, Regardless of how good or wack i am... |

i have a few rhyme books, i was heavy using them back in the day but im just about to fill one up, probably by the end of the week and i've been using it since october. umm whenever i have a hook idea or something that involves singing or having a certain cadence i record it, either my phone or adobe when im home, 1luv.

Anyway...I found my 1st rhyme book yesterday, after starting this thread....Lol...How amusing it was.... Its a normal school book (A5 size line paper) cut in half.....I filled that mudda fucka so bad...I even had some shit with 2 lines in 1... |
