High Class 02-05-04 10:35 PM

Word.

HighClass still listens to Eminem.

FairInHeight 02-14-04 12:44 AM

yo canada has a lot of a different style than a lot of american rap. Down south they have crunk as the main trend. In the west they have the laid back pimpin and westcoast gangsta as the trend. New York they have that whole HipHop original and East Gangsta. In Canada, our rappers are way more into the reggae thing with people deeply influenced from it like kardi and the rascals. If you look at our main frontline mc's, almost all of them have dreads and a bit of a caribean accent.

Archeologist 02-14-04 09:21 AM

dl incognito is dope he'll be a legend soon...........

Mag... 02-14-04 12:05 PM

Ok first off let's clear the air here . . . nobody said Canadian rap was a topic to inspire discussion on whether there are class, race or geographic lines in music.

The point is to share some knowledge about a group of (possibly) overlooked artists...

Let's not forget:
Choclair
Rascalz
K-Os

Other notable Canucks:
Kardinal Offishall
Saukrates
Brassmunk
Bishop and Section 6

Little known:
Reign

Don't bother with Swollen Members later stuff (they've gotten soft). Buck 65 is boring and last but not least, look for Maestro(formerly Maestro Fresh Wes) to make a comeback. His latest joint "God Bless the Child" is tight

{Peace}

Phate 02-16-04 04:54 PM

magnificent pretty much covered the list.

DL Incognito is dope. Kardinal keeps improving. Choclair is aight, look for a track called Let's Ride on Kazaa. It'd be nice to see maestro comeback. I've seen all of the above in concert n they're dope. But you have to like the style. I ain't going to say they're better than any other rapper but personally i'd rather listen to them than dirty south or club shit like chingy and nelly.

BFire 02-16-04 08:11 PM
