Stolen Titles?

Justice Is Wronged

IP: 7A38 2D7B

Hello, many of you Mods may know me as 'the annoying femcee who keeps praising Penskills in the vain attempt to get him into Legends' which is obviously what he deserves. In a previous thread, i brought up many reasons why Penskills should be given this recognition, all of which were deleted; why? i do not know. Maybe this is because it would go against the grain, it has been brought to my attention that numerous posts in the Legends forum are occupied by Moderators and Admins, the very people who have the say over what goes in, and what doesn't. I am simply asking the question, is this a rule we were not informed of? Do you have to be a Mod to gain the recognition you rightly deserve? I don't know the answer, but i do know that RapBattles has a lot of talented, highly underated emcees. It was also said that Penskills could not belong in Legends as he had only been here a short time, it was said that he should come back five months down the line, in words to that effect.

Quantity over Quality?

Maybe. You decide that a person has to be here a certain amount of time to be discoved, to have their name immortalised forever in a thread? So talent accounts for only a small portion of the necessaries? Just something to think about.

I am not being disrespectful to those that have gained a title in this particular forum, yes, i agree that the positions were, in all cases that i have seen, rightly deserved. The people recognised in here have talent, no doubt, i am not saying anything to go against that, i am just saying..so do many others.

Thank You for your time.

FanTa ZeE

this was origionally posted in Legends forum, and you can view it there at your pleasure, LMAO, but i thought i'd get a more verified response here.. who backs me?

Reborn2687 02-10-04 12:45 PM

I back ya.....no-matter how good you are you dont get in legends if your name isnt camarac, chrit...etc

Token 02-10-04 12:47 PM

^ hmm.. I suspect you've already been banned.

*runs to do IP check*

Trapt Wit 02-10-04 12:48 PM

LMAO...
I'm in legends once.
Basically if your name is Chrit you get declined for legends 12 times.

My name isnt Camarac or Chrit and I'm in legends three times. Maybe there are a lot of vets in the legends forums but those vets are there because of their talent, not their post count..At least I hope they are..Most talent comes from practice and experience and seeing the older members have been here longer, it explains why some of them are better than the newer members..This isn't always the case though.

I don't think anyone should be declined of a legends position strictly because of their post count..If a piece of writing is one of the best the site has ever seen, then it deserves to be in Legends..the end..Yet I can understand how a mod or someone judging what goes in and what doesn't wouldn't want a piece from someone who's been here a week who will probably be gone next week..Doesn't seem very legendary..Still, quality over quantity is right..

The best thing would be to have a system where when a piece was nominated, all the judges or whomever would see the text/hear the audio only, without knowing whose it was or how many posts they have..Then no one could complain about anyone being biased or whatever..But that would be next to impossible to do..

FanTa ZeE 02-10-04 01:18 PM

i agree with DaGyrl, thank you for thinking of a response which actually proved a point, i do see where your coming from, some of the older more experienced members have a more consistent and advanced style of writing, but that isn't a fact set in stone. Maybe there should be a panel, like a jury, of say, 12 mixed people, that changes monthly or something. Not all mods, just people chosen at random who could be trusted to give an unbiased response, if more than half agree, then the piece is in?

Edicius 02-10-04 01:19 PM

If u eddy u get declined 15 times.

Johnny 6-feet 02-10-04 01:31 PM

this is going to sound vain but i'll post it anyway. i reckon i should be in legends for a piece i wrote called "the holy grail (part 1 or 2, it doesnt matter)". and before people start running around with their hands in the air going "oh my god, he must be a herb. hes nominating himself!" at least go and check it out before critising.

and fanta zee is right, there are a lot of heads who get slept on who produce stuff thats a cut above your average "i'm a 14 year old who think im a gangsta" shit i see a lot on here. we need more nominations, full stop.

self 02-10-04 01:41 PM

What you said about him not being here long enough I really don’t like. That’s just pushing people away from staying here longer.
And no, being a mod doesn’t get you into Legends. The whole reason why a lot of Legends are also mods is pretty obvious and normal. They have been here a while and gained respect, as well as the ability to write. One part gets them the modship, the other into Legends. And also, a lot of the mods beef between themselves, so it’s not as tight of a clan as everyone seems to think.

You have 5 posts and have been here since February. What I said before about not being here long enough...Penskills has been here for a little bit, you have five posts, and joined this month. I wouldn't vote a persons piece into Legends if they only had five posts. Who's to say they'll even post again? Legends is a respect factor for the members who are loyal to the site, and great rappers.

Case in point exactly. I'm in there once I think...so yeah, doesn't really reflect the "mods get in there" side of it.

Maybe not. That's a great idea...I'll look into it a bit more.

Chose people at random? No. Who's to say they are worthy to judge the pieces?
Are mods are good at what they do, that is why they are mods.
12 people is too many.

I think I'll become more active in reading Legend requests. I really don't care who you are, and if one of my friends asked me to put their piece in Legends I would make sure that it would never get in.

Penskills 02-10-04 01:54 PM

people should vote on who goes in or not

Mr.Christensen 02-10-04 06:30 PM

Heres the steps to take to get in legends (worked for me)
Find a great writer on the site, befriend him then ask for a collab (ghod)
when he tells you his verse is done, spend the next waking 14 hours rewording your verse as much as possible (food break if needed)
then be humble about it and from that day on, drop shitty open mics...

Enjoy!

Maven 02-10-04 07:01 PM

fanta zee- your posts were deleted in the penskills nominations thread because I cleaned the thread, due to the fact that it was clogged with unecessary posts, much like yours, restating the same points.

As for you making assumptions about what me and the other mods let into legends, you can fuck right off. I do my job, I do it well, and I'm not going to let pieces I don't think deserve to be in, in. Penskills is a good writer, I have said this a lot, I just didn't think the pieces were legendary. So sue me.

Yeah...If everything that was nominated got into Legends, what would be so legendary about it? Nothing..There has to be some that get rejected..And often when people don't get in for one reason or another they criticize the judges and try to come up with a reason which isnt their fault as to why their piece wasn't inducted..

Mods are mods for a reason..They have been around long enough to have a good judgement of what deserves to be in and what doesn't..Their decisions should be trusted and not questioned..If we had random members judging what's legendary, you might get someone with 50 posts who's mad at the system putting all this bullshit in there and then our legends forums would all go to hell...Plus how can you know what is or isn't the best this site has seen when you haven't been here long enough to see half of it?

Maybe there is a piece that falls through the cracks now and then but it seems like everytime someone reads something they like they scream "legends!"

LoL, I wasn't even a mod of Legends when Gege's pieces were accepted.

MuhThugga 02-10-04 10:40 PM

I'm in Legends once. I was declined once. I have been nominated three times.

The talent has to be there. The activity has to be there. If you just come on this site to post up and piece, don't bother talking, and don't bother replying to other pieces, have fun trying to get a nomination (let alone a decent reply to your piece).

Also a reason why new members might feel they get looked over...you drop a nice piece, get a legends nomination but get declined and start protesting 'its cause my post count' while that is not the full truth...chances are it may have an effect...cause everyone in legends right now is known on the site...

How would you feel if you seen a drop from
"MC Nameless"
in legends tomorrow...even if it was DOPE, its still kinda weird to see someone whos never been here drop dope like that

heres advice to all, just keep writing and if your as skilled as you are precieved you will get in legends...and at one point you will get your own sub forum there...so keep dropping, keep replying (good exposure) and keep your head up

If you send me $35 via snail mail, i can get in a good word about you

I didnt hear anything

LoL, I know this. I was modding that forum when I put some of hers in there. I just wanted to comment in this thread and stir up shit.

:)

Kost 02-11-04 12:29 AM

why dont all you complainers spend take time away from whining and put time into perfecting your piece so that it will be undistbuted as legends material

*not that i know what that looks like :(

FanTa ZeE 02-11-04 12:48 PM

This obviously caused quite a stir. Thats good. That was the desired effect. All i wanted out of this was to get people to listen, and to shed light - whether you back me or not - on the content of the Legends forum.

At no point in time did i ever say that the pieces immortalised in Legends were not worthy of that title; they are. I am especially fond of the poetry section, DaGyrlRemarquabl is my favourite poet on this site, and i have checked out a few of the open mics; i know i could never live up to that standard. I am not asking for a place in Legends. I am just asking for a general overview. More nominations. A better voting scheme. I'm sure that would prove fair. Or is this an impossible request?

Doesn't anyone see a general pattern here?

Well, I really don't think if a person's first post is a great Open Mic is should go into Legends, even if it is worthy. So we put it in there...and then the member leaves the site a week later, awesome.
Legends is suppose to be a reflection of RB's best members. Not the reflection of RB's best members who posted once or twice.

The word More should not be associated with Legends. That just lowers level of 'greatness' of what makes it in.

FanTa ZeE 02-11-04 01:39 PM

yes..valid point. taken and noted. but i wrote an open mic dedication to the 'underated members' just to show theres no hard feelings. but i still stand by what i said.
