seriously it's turned into a joke

it was a joke before but now it's just a completely anal joke

other than the attention they might get from it, why do people still do it? is there any other reason?

cause i mean, fuck...everyone writes the same. even the ultra popular clever style lines are still boring and feel like i've seen them written by everyone else. unless your name is krossword you're not unique, and he doesn't even battle cause he's smart...and the other people who are unique, are unique because they completely suck and havn't learned to write like a robot yet.

people who blew ass a year ago are known as decent now...like zuch and jux and shit. no offense, well, actually i dont care but yeah, i read these verses and they're not worth raising my eyebrows for. no ones are except for maybe Nebs and that's it.

everyones the same. everybody writes identical to eachother. i won't even start about how voting has never, ever been fair...because that would just taint everyones precious win columna nd we can't have that now can we! storytelling is ok, "battle" battling or whatever the fuck u wanna call it, isn't...not to me at least

Agreed- I hardly battle anymore. Ever. Its just a hassle, and not that fun anymore. Im speaking of net battling...in real life playing dozens and shit is just fun. Fooling around with your friends. I dont battle to get a deal, I dont want a deal. Most people on here just want a good rep or they saw 8 mile and got all giggles and excited.

But I will say that I enjoy doing topicals. Its more like using your mind to write...More intelligence...complexity...satisfaction and meaning..For me, sharing my creativity and deep-thought literature is not pointless.

who cares...some people like to battle...some think it's stupid...and you have every right to voice your opinion...but just because you are tired of seeing battles doesn't mean that everyone else is...me? i could care less...i think the site should go all audio...i battle just to keep fresh concepts coming...i use a verse to battle some one up here, and might take a punch or something and use it for a mixtape track or some shit...topicals is a different story...but we won't get into that....

That's why I prefer audio battles.

I did a couple battles on this site. But i won't be doing much more. It got boring on here, and other sites suck. Battling is very boring now considering all of the people that bite, d/r, cheat. Annoying stuff, and too many newbie textcees that will end up beating good textcees. Stupid d/rin cheating bastardos. Yeah... it sucks.

true. there's nothing i like about battling now, every battle verse ive posted over the last three months or so has been keyed in the reply box at the bottom cause i just dont feel the need to try now, and topically there arent many better than me right now.

the reason why i battle is to see how i rate compared to other MCs across da nation.batlling motivates me cuz i'm not in it for da attention of winning a battle i actually do it cuz i want to be defeated.i know dat may sound funny but if i lose then i would know dat i need to work on my skillz.to me losing a battle is better in the long run tha winning.cuz if i win all the tyme then i'll stop ryhmin all together.and if i do that then i'm turning my back on myself and the rest of the hip hop nation.

^ I've done it just as long. and it sucks now. in 00 it was still a lil shaky, but there were people with skill doin it. Now all the wannabe rappers that praise 50, or have a couple freestyles downloaded want to do it. And since they aren't coordinated, or smart enough to get on a mic, they have to type. The online freestyling shit has lost its amount of skill and its edge.

Battling is not pointless it's a great thing to do to sharpen your skills with the pen. You have to be fucking stupid to say that it is.

I dont see why all the fuss over text battling? Personally I like a good prewrite battle because most ppl keystyles are @zz, not saying all ppl, but words don't do a song justice sometimes. Alot of mainstream songs are garbage on paper. Delivery and flow and a decent instrumental make a world of a difference. But yea battling is becoming on of those "lost arts".

my opinion is different i battle cuz im always looking to get better so if i can see how better emcees use wordplay and multis and shit like that and make it all flow together it becomes a learning experiance
