Eminem = Recycler (you know it's true if I post it)

I've known about this for quite some time, but it just came to me today that I should post this up. If you've downloaded or heard Eminem's "Rap Olympics Freestyle" (if you haven't you should:thumbup:), and have the dvd of 8 Mile, you'll know what I'm talking about. On his freestyle track he's battling a female and says something about "quit takin' your period out on me". Then when I rented the 8 Mile dvd (like a year 1/2 ago lol) I went to the extra where he battled random people in the audience. He's battling a female, and uses that exact same line. Nothing too big of a deal, just thought I'd point that out to y'all lol.

GKillaz05 12-06-04 07:42 PM

Thats cool, its not like he pulled some Jay-Z shit bitin off Biggie all the time. Was only one little phrase, and I bet he worded it differntly. But not sure.

I'm sure your opinion will change when/if you battle a recycler...

I don't think you kids get the meaning of this thread...
I said it's funny that some kids on this site get bent out of shape when their competitor recycles, and then a big-namer like Em recycles. I know it's not a big deal, you don't have to remind me.

I don't particularly like or dislike Jay. If I hear a song from him that I like I play it, but I don't have any of his albums. So, I'm not biased for or against him. The people in here defending Jay are being dickriders. If you honestly think that its ok for Jay to constantly use other people's lines and concepts, then you're being stupid. Its not about whether he can or cannot make his own lines. Of course he can, anybody with sense knows that Jay's got skills. But there is a thin line between showing respect and using something someone else did to make your own shit better. Its no different than all these cats droppin dead rapper's names when they didn't even know them. Its just a ploy, and its disgusting.

First of all, that homage shit is a cop out. If you use a line every now and then that's homage. If every song has at least one line taken from someone else, then its just biting. He's trying to use paying homage as free access to use Biggie's lyrics and that's not cool. On top of that, Jay Z isn't just any rapper. He's supposedly the best right now. If you the best, you supposed to be an innovator, not a biter. So what a lot of other people do it? How many other people label themselves the greatest living rapper? If you gonna be that you got to play the part, and using and recycling other people's stuff is not playing the part.

Also, that Jay-Z does not always give credit for the lines he uses and he doesn't always use well known lines so thats BS. I don't know how many times I've heard people giving him credit for something that wasn't his to begin with. I'm sure Jay-Z knows that a lot of people aren't going to pick out everyone of those lines and know they aren't his. For goodness sake, he bit the hell out of Bun B, and Bun B isn't even that big or well known on the grand scale of things.

"Now once upon a time, not too long ago
A nigga like myself had to strongarm a hoe
This is not a hoe in the sense of havin a pussy
But a pussy havin no God damn sense, tryin to push me"

Bun B had that on Ridin Dirty, Jay-Z bit it on 99 Problems. That's not a popular line, and no where did Jay-Z credit Bun B. That's not even the only time that's happened. He took a Pimp C line to, and I can't remember what song it was. Basically, Jay-Z hears something, likes it, and uses it. It wouldn't be so bad if people weren't always blowing Jay-Z up as the god of rap. And none of it would be worth mentioning except for the fact that all the Jay-Z dickriders in here are jumping up and down trying to defend him knowing damn well if someone else used other people's lines this much they be attacking them everyday.

People on this board make too many concessions for their favorite artists. Its like a dickriding zoo here. You got the Nas exhibit, the Jay exhibit, Pac, Biggie, a whole damn safari. Ya'll need to chill on that for real.

^^^this is fuckin word...it gets my point across exactly...difference between me and Jay-Z is I let you know where it came from instead of just pretending I wrote it...Its not just Biggie either...Ill give you guys a complete list of his bites upon request...it's disgusting and no true hip-hop head should stand for it and try to defend him...

*GHOSTE* 12-08-04 08:15 PM

i dont think recyclin is a big deal...unless uve already used the line in a real battle that won u somthin...

What are you...stupid? That's exactly what I posted about! And don't respond saying again that it's not a big deal, because I've already said that a few times.

Lol @ how this thread turned into Jay-Z biting discussion.

NeptuneHurricane 12-08-04 11:14 PM

Isnt this the same kinda shit as when Lloyd Banks spit that 187 line in his freestyles like a million times?

Nynth Degree 12-08-04 11:51 PM

^I'm a lil' tired right now, refresh my memory on what the "187" line was?

Ill Minded 12-09-04 06:39 PM

everybody fucking recycles and if u dont u live in denile.

NeptuneHurricane 12-09-04 07:25 PM

The 187 line. I dont know really what it was. I just remember listening to a couple G-Unit songs and a couple of his freestyles and he dropped the same two lines about it. Hmm........

schema 12-09-04 07:45 PM

187 on a motherfuckin cop? he did that when they freestyled over the 187 beat...but that line is soooo famous that its just a throwback...

TeamOne 12-10-04 12:44 AM

^^^^ hahah u defend him??? but noit JAy or sumthin...... lmfao..... U needa think schema.... and i realized that shit too 9th wen i first saw the dvd but i didnt think anythin of it... but i think i remember him wordin it differently, but no matter.......i also thought it was cool cuz he actually takes some of his old lines from the olympics and back then, and puts them in the movie...... ( with some of em worded differently) includin the "i grill ya" one he does where the guys beat boxin outside the shelter i think (which i found funny, cuz that was the line that i think lost him the olympics..... but he worded it alot better for the movie)...... but w/e.. uve hearded it like 20 times already.. that shits ok, especially since he created the line....

and for the Jay-Z thing, i think about 90 percent the lines he bit were suppose to be obvious and he wasnt tryna pass off as his own.... and the other 10 percent, i wouldnt be surprised he wrote or had the right to use it..... like with the BigL line he took from a freestyle with jay... jay coulda prolly actually wrote that shit and juss let bigL say it.. or BigL sed it anyways and Jay didnt care... but w/e...... all rappers "bite" but for alot of em i think its juss them quotin famous lines or lines they hope for people to pick up on as lines from other songs.. Eminem does that too.... especially on the Marshal Mathers LP i think..... he even says a doug e fresh line in there... w/e, time to sleep..... bye

everybody's heard that line...everybody...my grandmas heard that line...jay has bitten a lot of shit your average listener has never heard of...even shit i havent heard of like the thing he bit in 99 problems...even if all his biggie shit is homage hes still a biter...like dude said he hears shit he likes and he uses it...but thats why i defended banks and not jay...its like banks saying the pledge of alliegance in a rhyme and people being like "he bit the pledge of alliegance he didnt write that shit"...its just SOOOO famous that it cant be anything BUT homage...

That was in the olympics? When I heard that it was on the bonus DVD of The Eminem Show, in a freestyle. He said something like "I scar and kill, I'm scarier than a white person locked in a room with Lauren Hill" which had me laughin'. But thanks Fux, at least somebody knew what I was talkin' about lol...

God Mastuhmind 12-10-04 06:07 PM

Well, I think its ok if it was previously a freestyle, but used it in a movie..

RapVerse 12-10-04 06:27 PM

Eminem flips quite a lot of his lines. You can hear him use lines in 8 mile that sounds very similar to lines on his albums... But Eminem's opponents on 8 mile weren't shit to him so, he didn't even have to try and beat them. Those 8 mile battles are actually weak as fuck, if you compare them to some of Eminem's decent freestyles the (the Canibus vs. Eminem freestyle is a good example).

If this actually exists hook me up:thumbup:

There's a battle that's labelled as Eminem vs. Canibus, but it's really a cypher between him and Royce da 5'9"...12 minutes long, pretty dope.
