Freestyling Question
 

When freestyling, what do you think of to keep going, I am not sure if I'm doing it right, because I can ususally start off good, then get stuck after my 2-4th bar

How should my mind be thinking? Or Thinking of What.. or ... Something

honestly, i empty my mind, and let the words flow

I freestyle battle everyday at schooll....EVERYDAY....what you do is just let the words slip offa the tip of ya tounge...dont think to much..and just let it go and go and go...i could go forever if i wanted to....but just dont use the same words too much......and it should be pretty solid..... :thumbup:

if you think then you try to get too complex and you get stuck thinking two things at once and fuck up what you say...i dont think i just spit

But don't you have to think ahead a few rhyems to keep going.. tahst what I heard.. and when I try, I do get my self all mixed up heh

naw... its just thinkin of the very next line 4 me... its like it comes wit practicin' and listenin to shit and comin up wit words that rhyme wit everything then u can just start wit the next line and hopefully the rhym will just come 2 u...

ya yo werd up...just let the words flow and when u get better that's because of two things:
experience of battling and knowing what words go together...pretty soon you'll be banging!!

I think of 5 things i wanna say, and then jus make up setups to rhyme with em, after that its freelance

You just gotta practice thinking about not thinking in a way...If you are able to just clear your mind and listen to a beat or something, the words will just naturally come.

o just make fun of people im battiling ill add in like what they wearing or like what they look like, but if i get stuck i use some shit i wrote and then go back to capping

i usually only think of my first bar, the rest i am thinking one line ahead of what im saying. if i have a slight mind block that's when id use a frestyle filler....

i.e.....
fuck,shit, it's like,no doubt, let me swithc it up..........


thing's like that help me toward's the end of a freestyle,they pause time a bit so you can catch your mind up.

hwo the fuck can you spit a freestyle without thinking. you need to think before you speak, you need to think to send a mesage to your voice box from your brain.

personally, when i freestyle, b4 i start i think of a first two lines then from there, i just think of my second line before hand... like i'll spit a line then while im doin that, think of my next line's second rhyme- do yall understand that cuz i dont think i explained good enuff... its like you got lines
A and B- where A is the first line, and B is the next line rhyming with A... well, I think of my B lines first(well, the end of it- sort of the punch) and then make an A to rhyme with that. that way, its easier to get multies...
but enough on a freestyle lesson, lets hear about somebody else

Well, heres what I do exactly

I start off with a rhyme, say... Like then I let the sentence fill itself in such as

Do you wanna know what I think you look like?

Then as I'm saying that i think of the next word to rhyme with like, such as fight

A little mommas boy who never been in a fight.

I don't think too much on the sentence, as I do the rhyme, I try to just keep the rhymes in my mind, but when I go to switch rhymes, thats when I start messing up, while trying to stay on the same topic.

Am I doing this right?

jus think up the next line. i think the hardest part of freestylin is gettin the first line then its all good from there. it comes wit experience though u jus gotta keep practicin like nething else. and to sum peeps it comes natural.

and when one line (not bar) is over,start ta think of 2 more dat rhyme
and keep doin that.
But ta keep goin, just think of a word or two dat alotta other words rhyme to
For example:changed emcee,thang wit me,bang wit me,hang wit me,
game quickly,gang shit be,cant fit me,etc.
But remember,freestylin means "your style" so just spit your style

I'd suggest using your imagination and broadening out instead of the usual thug/love/guns type of flow namean?

i used to have the same problem...but then i just let go...if theres preasure on you to do it...then ur gonna fuck up...just let go...and let the words fall into place...it'll make sense if u just let it happen...

in freestyles like da othaz said i agree don't think bout wut u say let it flow & u should get pass ur writer's blocc when u get 2 da 2nd or 4th bar

If you have an extensive vocab, you should be able to think of the next word that rhymes with the previous one, and make sense.. you already have millions of words in your data base, its just the art of putting it together.. me personally, I will say a word, then whatever word rhymes with it, i say it, and make it make sense later..
i mean, freestylin should be easy to a rythmic person with a vocabulary, it's just incorporating punchlines and metas that makes it hard.. you need to already have a few sayings in your head already to really shine, or do like they do in the East Coast, change the definition of freestyle and spit a prewritten verse in one take, like Jay-z, they also do that in battles, any real hip hopper knows this.. so if you hear someone on MTV, or Freestyle Friday who spits an impeccable freestyle, with awsome punchlines and no mess ups, chances are is that its written.. unless you're like Eyedea, and talk about exactly whats in front of you at that moment, and rhyme with it..

If you can't think of anything that means you need to go back to practicing. After practicing, if you still can't think of anything you need to go back to writing. When writing if you still can't think of anything, you need to just stop rapping.

I never really wrote anything until a few days ago, and now it seems like I can rhyme those words a lot more easier heh... I'm gonna keep on writing!, My friend that I met not too long ago and found out he raps... has writtin about 20 note books worth, so I got some work to do =P

I also told him I'd battle him, but won't be for a while heh, I'm gonna get merked
