Does it matter what headphones you use while recording?...


i mean, i only use them to listen to the beat while I spit through the mic...does the brand/style affect quality in any way?

i had a cheep 5 pair, they worked but i got a pair of
sony's n now qualities better but not the final recording....

hmm..Q...truthfully...i highly doubt it...i mean of course if u have cheap headphones the song will sound bad when u listen through the headphones...but if u listen to ya speakers it will sound betta...if u get what i mean...if thats what ur asking....

Headphones do matter.

What it does is it lets you hear it the way it is supposed to be heard.
However....

Its decieving because the quality people hear from you is different from your own headphones. Its my prob. My speakers an headphones were top notch, and the bass, click,hiss,pop,and treble differ on people's normal shitty ass speakers.

Basicly, its best to listen to ur music on shit, so u know what everyone else will hear.

exactly^^^, but i think they do make a difference in the fact, that your headphones, the good ones, will pick up the sounds speakers cant, so you are able to fix the problem w/ the way you sound

but anyways........ the one thing ive noticed is that the cheaper ones leak out sound out of them...... so wen u hear just the vocals, u can still here the beat alil bit..... i suggest gettin the ones that fit inside ur ears cuz they leak sound less, or the big ass ones that u see punk rock kids wearin..... like the huge ones that form a whole cup over ur ears..... now those really stop sound from leakin out..... u know wat im sayin???? but the ones that fit in ur ears are cheap too, juss a different style

It actually does matter. You need some decent headphones for studio quality shit, if thats what you're after.

if the mic your using is a condenser with a large diaphragm, it picks up the beat playing out of shitty headphones. So you can hear it on the recording, thus it lowers quality.

If your out to get dope high quality mic, pre amp, all that jazz then you'll wanna get some decent headphones as well.

But if you were just wondering whether you needed to upgrade ya headphones outta the blue, nah you dont... cos most mics dont pick that shit up. well most dynamic mics anyway.

Right...that's also why I turn the beat down as low as possible through the head phones cuz the mic will pic it up...but this Pre-amp Im gettin has a plug for headphones...I wonder if they betters the quality any more than plugging the headphones into the computer

I didn't use headphones until up a lil while ago...and I didn't think it made a difference of your quality on the song, but I agree wit Carson about the way it sounds out of your headphones.

if u have better headphones then the mic will pic up less of the beat from them, if u have a real cheap pair u can kinda hear the beat outside of them, so the mic catches it a lil. no major difference doe
