Who Started Gangsta Rap?
 

I personally think that it was Easy E and Ice Cube, while Too Short Started Pimp Rap, but a lot of people might look at Back East as the orgin, I'm just tryna get some insight on honest opinions, what do ya'll think?

East Coast rap, mainly New York rap started the genre itself and its hardcore movement. However, Gangsta Rap as we know it saw its rise with N.W.A.

If ya'll can name what east coast artist was Gangsta before N.W.A, i want to hear his name, i need a basis if we're gonna make Claims.. N.W.A started only 4 or 5 years after Hip Hop it's self started, they jumped straight to gangsta rap instead of Hip Hop, I'm not sure as to who on the east coast started hardcore first, probably Rakim, but he wasn't really Gangsta with it, just street..

i think we need to spend less time on here and more time in school.

Are you guys illiterate? I said New York rap started the genre which is HIP-HOP. It was also the source of hardcore hip-hop. However, the west and mainly N.W.A influenced the Gangsta Rap aspect of the genre. Damn motherfuckers, can you comprehend? Like that one guy few posts above said, go back to school.
