Hot in Here

Ok
Nelly
we all know he's one of the wackest kats to ever grace the mic
and this new song "Hot in Herre" is one of his wackest to date.

but last nite i went clubbin and when they threw this song on
the fuckin club was jumpin....everybody was going crazy

i don't understand how such a wack song gets people so hype.

can i get some feedback on this......

Syntax Mastery 07-24-02 06:07 PM

its called....

non-emcees listening to music...lmao

regular people are not nearly as critical of music and lyrical content as emcees are... they dont care...if it sounds like its bangin, and carson daily say its bangin, then its bangin...

peace...

Shadow 07-24-02 07:41 PM

I think its kind of catchy....and dont mind it at all. And I especially like that Ja Rule/Ashanti/C. Baltimore track; Down ass chick, or whatever its called. No problem with some of the recent tracks hitting the air waves....I listen to whatever sounds good to ME.

And I agree with Syntax...the majority of emcees are quick to make comparisons between themselves and commercial artists. "I can do what he does, i have better lyrics rah rah rah"....yah maybe yall do have lyrics that are unmatchable...but too bad 95% of netcees sound like geeks, look like geeks, have no emotion, have no flow, and are just overall wack....

ExEs 07-24-02 08:25 PM

^Falls into 95% of all MC's, haha but seriously

Nelly flows plane and simple, Bitches live for cats that can flow and a hot beat to shake there ass too. Fucking fake dudes follow bitches every move. They dont care bout anything except trying to land some ass. Only thing Mike and I see eye to eye on is that most Americans today are fucking stupid!

Shadow 07-24-02 09:20 PM

^I don't emcee for one...For two when I do fuck around and do rap...Im dope....and actually sound like a real rapper with urban roots....

rather then these net imposters, who are part time honor students, and part time net rebels on internet message boards...

OFF~CeNTeR 07-24-02 09:24 PM

its because Nelly is more dancy than hip-hop....Its a beat you can move to and dance to...I dojnt myself, but you can....simple as that

MC4Eyez 07-24-02 09:27 PM

rather then these net imposters, who are part time honor students, and part time net rebels on internet message boards... [/B][/QUOTE]

Who says you can't be a scholar and an emcee? No beef, just wondering if that's what you meant.

Peace

DaGyrlRemarqabL 07-24-02 10:51 PM

Lyrics are only one component of a track..
You gotta take into consideration the beat, instrumentals, the overall vibe of the song..the MC's delivery, emotion, voice, the way it sounds..
Poor Nelly, he always gettin the short end of the stick..but the truth is, even tho his lyrics may be mediocre, he makes up for it in all the other areas and thats why he sells millions of records and has a deal when there are lots of people who could write better shit than him who arent even signed..
As for 'hot in herre'..i cant really sit still when that song comes on, and i dont care what the hell he's sayin..cuz bottom line is, he sounds good, the music sounds good, and he got me movin..mission accomplished.

NoBody2Me 07-24-02 10:57 PM

1 question for ya DGR, does Nelly compose his tracks or somebody do it for him? 'Cuz if it's some other Cat then maybe we should give him the credit, if ya ask me Nelly sucks {whats wit the band-aids anyway? gay}

If its some other cat, then maybe we should be saying HE'S wack instead of Nelly..

I think everyone rippin apart a innocent party anthom..I doubt Nelly was tryna go out with the likes of 2pac n big with this single..Just wanted to make a track people could get up on n have fun with..which brings us back to..

No comment on the bandait bit..haha.
Hes still cute tho.

NoBody2Me 07-24-02 11:35 PM

DRG I was merely sayin' that his beats are better then his lyrics, but who cares. Ya can't trust the masses didn't Boy George sell millions of albums LOL hahahahaha

You need to read.

I said part time honor students, and part time Net rebels. Nothing to do with emceeing. What I am saying is conduct yourself on the net, the same you would off the net. Don't put on a facade and misrepresent yourself to be this "I dont give a fuck" gangsta type of bravado.

If your a straight A nerd in school. And you register the name "Gangsta Pete" on RB. I find it foolish, and more then unacceptable. It gives "Netceeing" nothing but a bad name.

you don't give a blind fuck about lyrics and shit...

if such things happened to you you'd know... :)

it's all about rhythm...

something 99.9 % netcees don't know of...

F-Money Bags 07-25-02 03:33 AM

Some people actually listen to what a rapper is saying and some people just like the party type song that keeps them moving....U dig..1

MC4Eyez 07-25-02 07:30 AM

Shadow, thanks for clarifying. I didn't mean to jump the gun on you or anything, but I took your first post more personally than I should have. Being a full time nerd and a full time hip-hop fan, I try to represent myself correctly as both at all times. Thanks for clearing that up. All cool?

Peace

MisteR eS 07-25-02 12:24 PM

YO ITS ABOUT TIME TH TOPIC WAS HIT ON THE HEAD...

MUSIC IS ONE THING... EMCEEING IS ANOTHER..

SHIT...IM A MUSICIAN... IM TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO SHAKE WHATEVER AS LONG AS THEY GIVING UP THEM DOLLARS...

AND YOU AINT GONNA GET NO AIRPLAY IF YOU DONT GET NO CLUB PLAY...THEREFORE...

PLAY ON...AND LET THE BEAT KEEP YOU BUMPING.

Direkt-Threat 07-25-02 12:52 PM

^...to me, all of these reply's are the same...except for yours...if your into Hip-Hop, and you posting Audio's and you can't get anyone to listen to it, and you have to go mainstream such as Nelly and Trick Daddy rapping, then your not into Hip-Hop and you don't know shit about it, because if you did, you would know the correct style to use to get people in clubs jumping to your music...such as Nas, one example, he did songs with Genuine or how you spell it...shit was pumping for a while and he just did one with J.Lo and his 2 parts came out nice...peace.

MisteR eS 07-25-02 01:39 PM

YO, CHECK IT DAWG.... I BEEN INTO THE HIP HOP SCENE AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER... AND I DATE 20 YEARS.. AIGHT?

SHITS IN MY BLOOD SINCE BEFORE I COULD WALK..MY OLD BOY WAS A B BOY...HE SHOWED ME THE LATEST MOVES, THE NEWEST TRACKS, THE HOTTEST B BOYS OF HIS TIME..

I LIVED THE CREATION OF THIS ART.

BUT, ON THE SAME TOKEN, I AM A REALIST... AND TRUTH IS..

YOU BUMP.. OR YOU DONT...

WHETHER LYRICALLY OR INSTRUMENTALLY....

MAINSTREAM MUSIC IS THE LATTER PART, AND UNDERGROUND MORE THE LYRICAL ASPECT...BUT OCCASIONALLY YOUR RIGHT.. THEY DO MIX AND CREATE A BANGER...WHICH IN A FEW WEEKS TURNS INTO A "HATERS" PREY.

I LOVE MUSIC SON, AND THROW ME A ROCK, SALSA, MERENGUE, RAVE, DRUM AND BASS, HARPS, SAX DRUMS WHATEVER...

AND ILL ROCK THE MIC...

IM A PERFORMIN LYRICISTS... DONT CONFUSE ME WITH A PART TIME "RAP" HEAD....IM A PIONEER. LIKE BDP, LIKE ERIC B AND RAKIM , LIKE BLACKMOON, LIKE BLACK SHEEP, LIKE TRIBE, SPECIAL ED , NWA, GREG NICE, GANGSTARR RAS KASS, JERU THE DAMAJA, AND EARLY WU...

I MADE THESE PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE BY PROMOTING THEM AND BUYING INTO THEIR DRAMA.(TAPES, POSTERS, CONCERT TICKETS)..

WHERE WERE MOST KIDS ON HERE? STILL SWIMMING IN DADDY'S BALLS....OR IN DIAPERS?

ANYBODY WHO TALKS ABOUT "OLD SCHOOL" AND DIDNT LIVE IT... DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT IT REALLY MEANT.

THE FEW HEADS THAT ARE REAL TO THEMSELVES KNOW THAT UNLESS YOU WERE REALLY LISTENING TO THE MUSIC WHEN IT CAME OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME... (LIKE ILLMATIC).. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT REALLY MEANT...

BECAUSE YOU DIDNT LIVE THAT TIME.

YOU DIDNT MAKE IT TO WHAT IT IS...

BROADBAND BABY!!!

WE OPENED THE HORIZONS SO MUCH IN HIP HOP THAT WE HAVE NOW MADE IT ACCPETABLE TO 40 AND 50 YEAR OLDS TO SHAKE WHAT THEY MAMMA GAVE THEM..(FOR ALL THE BOOTY MUSIC HEADS)

DAWG, I TAKE THIS MUSIC TO THE HEAD.... AND TO THE HEART...

BUT HIP HOP IS JUST ANOTHER MUTATED FORM OR SPOKEN WORD... FOLK MUSIC...ITS A MUTATED FORM OF JAZZ..A BEAT AND A VOICE. AND THATS IT...

Intrin Sic 07-25-02 02:40 PM

Because girls like it. And when girls like a song they go fucken wild. And that makes us fallas go fucken wild on them. Is it that hard to understand?

Da NFamous 07-25-02 03:52 PM

You aint no fucking pioneer.

Sun rises In the East (classic album by the way) came out in 94'. 36 chambers came out in 93'. Soul on Ice in 96'. Wolf in Sheeps clothing is like 91-92'....Black moons shit dropped in like 94'....

I mean shit...besides the obvious legends you named, Like Rakim, Boogie down Prod., NWA and a few others...your naming shit from the early to mid 90's....

WTF hiphop was well passed its devolopmental stages. You aint groundbreaking. Hip-Hops been live since the mid-80's. Acting like you were the only muhfucka to support hiphop. I mean shit one example. Roxanne Shante's record sold 250,000 copies in NY back in like fucking 84'....

Please with that "I started the revolution" bozshit!

ForeiGnChamBer 07-25-02 09:41 PM

Simplicity 07-26-02 06:13 AM

damn son you really pissed me off by saying...hip hip is nothing but a mutated form of spoken word..mutated jazz..words and a beat..?
come now son..!
hip hop is not just MUSIC..
breakdancing, turntablism, emceeing, grafitti..
those are all forms of spoken word..?
cuz thats all the base if hip hop right there..
so rethink your posts and edit them if you have too..
but get your shit correct first BEFORE you put your fingers to the keyboard..
and my pops was a b-boy too..
so what..?

rar one 07-26-02 06:30 AM

Its jumpin cuz he did the two thing ya need for a hit.. Got a catchy beat n choris... Shit as long as you have those aspects doesnt matter if you repeat the word chicken 500 times, if its catchy the teenie boopers will buy um up like that..

shadow, IGNORANCE IS BLISS.....

so stay in your little "TUPAC" "MOBBDEEP" world.

thats your fucking loss... not mine.

I know what the difference is between me and you...
You dont. But i do.

And you probably wont ever know because all your formative years were spent on a god damn computer...

Being hard on the net is probably about all the "hardness" you got.

But thats straight dogg...

I know where i stand in the game of life.

Secondly, Realize this.... People like me helped create your site as well... fail to realize this and you will suffer greatly.

No one makes it big on their own...Everyone needs support.

StreetPharmacist 07-26-02 03:07 PM

its all about the little boys and girls in the 2nd grade and shit you know. The people that think the only thing canibus is, is weed. Krs one go kill Nelly

Vision 07-26-02 04:58 PM

Nelly isn't even that great for a party rapper. Snoop and Dre... they are the king of party tracks.

Shadow 07-26-02 09:06 PM

Vigilance amongst the absence of knowledge. In other words keeping aware and good focus on this thread with constant off topic replies only shows your lack of intellectual prowess to step up toe to toe. I speak with more power, yet with less words that are pertinent to the topic. While your replies reflect assumptions and unsubjective reasoning. So keep at it kiddo. I will make your look bogus every time.

I know more about hiphop then you do. I own Paid in full, Follow the leader, Criminal minded, By all means necessary, Blueprint of Hip Hop, Low end theory, Midnight marauders, Step in the arena, Daily operation, Full clip, Sun rises in the East, and 100% of all the other albums of artists you mentioned above. Plus an additional 400 more tapes, mixes, white labels, and cd's...I know my shit from the 80's, and 90's...Be it commercial, or underground. So spare me your useless verbatim.

This is not relevant to the topic at hand. You seem to have went greatly off track when I completely made you look foolish.

You claim to be this old schooler yet can only name a few artists from the eighties...And the majority (all of them) of which who are just plain legends, or have made debutes/follow up albums in the 90's... What about KGR? Just-Ice? Stetasonic? Jungle bros? Chubb Rock? Kane? Mellow Man Ace? P.M. Dawn? and hundreds of others you forgot in the Mid-eighties//early 90's...instead of naming the obvious legends like Krs one/La rock, Eric B/Rakim, Guru/Premier, Wu and the Tribe expand your horizons....

Ibro_Palic 07-26-02 09:33 PM

Vision 07-27-02 07:57 AM

Haha, that lyrics wack, but i like it though, beats dope as well!

Second2None 07-27-02 08:21 PM

What makes you different from everyone else claiming
to be dope?

Nothing..I'd say post an audio and let people be the judge.
Or else why judge someone else?

Caramac 07-27-02 08:41 PM

He's the owner of this site you newbie-fuck, he'll bann your ass with a "click click, banned!" if you carry on, so shut up now!

he can judge someone else the same way writers for the source judge hip hop albums...they can judge from a listeners perspective...everyone dont gotta be a emcee just to judge the illness of another one...

Second2None 07-27-02 08:54 PM

Yeah, I wasn't being a rebel here and trying to be smart..

I'm saying why judge other kids skills when he says
he's dope just like they are?

Everyone has the right to an opinion.

Shadow 07-28-02 11:23 AM

Syntax's short, but precise post summed it all up. But I still would like to elaborate for this new jack; Second2None...

The art of MC'n encompasses only a small portion of the hip-hop culture. For every thousand signed artists. There are a million listeners. Judgment being passed is inevitable. I mean shit the basis of rhyming; poetry, is a form of expression. To eliminate preferences and opinions would defeat the entire purpose...Now my generalization of netcees was in regards too the precent set. I don't want to attack Netcees. I mean shit I run a Netcee board. But as stated, the precent has been set. The Internet is a utopia for wack rappers. Syntax (link) and thousands of other talented emcees realize this as well as myself. You think I just woke up today and was like "Oh well net niggas suck" let me post about it. Remember, the obvious isn't stated, but rather observed. Now I am not an MC. And do not perform. Should my opinion mean less in regard to my ear for music? I do not think so. Because though you may be a Netcee/Textcee/hiphop listener for a few years. But my ear for hiphop is refined. Mcee or not. I have been listening to hiphop for over a decade.

Now let me go onto my music (lack their of). Is it dope? My honest opinion is, it's basic. My substance, and voice is nothing but a two-bit Prodigy. I am aware of this. But as far sounds go, I feel I can be bumped in a car. This was all I was saying. That I am dope because I sound like a real emcee. You won't hear my voice crack during my audio. You won't hear me go off beat. You won't hear some 12 year old kid from Idaho. And you sure as hell won't hear me fit a 30-word sentence into one bar. I wasn't saying I'm dope because I have the best flow, or the best lyrics. Statement was based on me having the essentials that the ordinary run of the mil netcee doesn't have, and will never obtain. If you believe I am as wack as everyone else, then so be it. But I feel I am already head honcho on this board with or without saying "im dope". So why lie? What benefit does it serve? Exactly it serves no self fulfillment.

G. Buttersworth 07-28-02 11:41 AM

^well put^

To Camarac's comment

i'm not hating on nelly at all
the reason i started this thread was to find out the reason,
How can a wack song get people so amped.
I liked some nelly shit(?) but i wasn't feeling "Hot In Herre"
at all, but i guess i was the only one in the club feeling like that, and I wanted to See other ppls thought on this.
