Mixtape Question - Labels
 

What do you people think about us putting labels on the cds? I talked to someone and they said just the cdr with no label would be fine. The positives for the labels would be that people would be able to pick out the cd easily and the album titles will be printed on them. Downsides would be they may eventually come off and cause problems for car cd players, or cause the cd to become unbalanced. Any opinions? Just wondering if it'd be worth the time to order labels and apply them to the cd.

well some labels arnt' even that bad, all you need is a local paper place
or something or you can do it if you have the programs, paper.
but dont do it ghetto style with a sheet of computer paper and sticky paste
thats when it isnt worth it.
if you can make it at least professional lookin it'd be good. presentation has a lot to do with descisions.

It'll be standard cd labels printed with a laser printer... sorry no color inkjets here. I've gone through literally 3-4 inkjets in the last few years with them breaking with barely any use. No computer paper and elmer's glue either. That'd be even more work. I'm lazy and had even brought envelopes with the self-adhesives so I don't have to sit around licking all the envelopes.

labels are basicly what its always about when people go in the store they gon have to remember your cd's name feel me....but id bet if we stopped puttin labels on shit statistics would show a decline in record sales....1

Anyway You CAn Get A Graphixs Head To Do Covers and Back and Just Send Them With The CD?? Like How Many Copys of The Mixtape We Order, You Send As Many Covers and Backs.

Then Its On Us To Buy The Whole Case and Put The Covers and Backs In Ourselves.

I think that labels will make it look a lot better and more professional..

But they should probably be kept fairly simple.. Nothing funky, just say what the CD is with a track list and bobs your unkle.. Maybe add a picture and logo aswell..

They add a nice touch in my opinion.. I'm just annoyed that I'm getting a new mic in the next week and its too late to use it and re-do my track for this mixtape.. -_-

It doesnt really matter.

Labels would add to the dopeness, but if there are to many complications it wouldnt "bring down" the mixtape, per say.

i say no to the labels, becuase if it fucks up then thats wack. i agree with using a pen and writing on it..lol

I'm going to just stick with the orignal plan to do the labels with the song titles and artists on it. Was going to also put the soundclick urls, but most of them are too long to fit onto the label. Just ordered 500 labels (shipping was the same as the 250 min. order so might as well have extras for the next cd). I'll start getting the cds out when they get here.

Anyone want to design a simple background for the labels? It'll have to use greys so it won't drown out the black text. Maybe something like the image below that is a stock Nero template but without all the text layers.

As for the covers, I guess if Crucial Concepts wants to do a cover for the mixtape, they can.. people who want one can download the images and print them out on a color printer.
