Seperatly it depends on wat type of rock you mean.
Hard rock is wack, but easier rock is cool i think.

I like more rap songs than rock songs. But the rock songs I do like, I like more than the rap songs i like. But I tend to get sick of rock songs quicker than rap songs.

its obviously going to be swayed toward hip-hop dumbass, since this is a net hip-hop community. Depends what your into, you cant really compare these genres of music. But i'd prefer hip-hop.

BUT YEAH... I listen to a little bit of rock. Not a lot though. Just whatever I like... Mainly jimi hendrix and some punk rock. But not gay punk rock like simple plan and good charlotte... The kind of punk rock from the 80's when punk rock was chillin and growing with hip hop.

Rock was the gateway to Rap. If it wasn't for aerosmith, rap wouldn't of been as popular as it is today. Well...that is comming from music critics. In the song Walk This Way by Aerosmith/Run DMC when Aerosmith smashes the wall between them in the video...critics say this is when Rap finally hit it big, and that video basically symbolizes that rock let rap in. I like rock better than rap, probably because I live in a small town where everybody listens to rock, but I enjoy hip hop. All mainstream shit is gay, Gay Unit and all are just terrible. I listen to stuff like...Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Slug, Necro, Tonedeff...etc. I unno...

well, both have their highlights....people nowadays tend to generalize rock into the category of "heavy metal", where the singer gets on the mic and screams with no indication of lyrics at all......but if you are a musician, alot of that shit has some very unique guitaring, drums, whatever.....every kind of music has some good points......im not into "heavy" shit, but i do enjoy rock better.....mainly because i listen to more of the oldies now, like hendrix, trooper, springsteen, aerosmith (just to name a few)....70's 80's stuff, but i do feel that some rap is enjoyable to listen to, just not the shit where you gotta swear more times than actual lyrics or talking about gettin 'fucked up' on some shit and banging hoes the whole time, shit gets boring, some of it is cool, but alot of it is the same shit being said, but with different beats......but like i said, i find rock to be better, but thats just an opinion and what i've grown accustomed to, but i listen to pretty much everything.............the people who say one type is greater than the other, though, are idiots.......i think

Rock has a culture just the same as hip hop. The elements arent as clearly defined, but theyre there. And it sells just as much.

im gonna put it like this.. i dont listen to rock, its just something i cant get into/feel. but that doesnt mean i go around saying "fuck rock". everybody is entitled to their own opinion and their own choice of music. i live in a mostly all white area where prolly 80% listen to rock. in my school, almost every day i hear somebody saying "fuck rap" or "rap sucks". that shit pisses me off so fucking much. just because you dont personally like something doesnt mean others shouldnt

exactly....but i think rap sells more because of the type of music it is....not saying that all rap is the same, its not........but you look at the shit that sells the most, example, gunit....and for the most part, that shit aint good, but people listen to it because everyone else does, and for the most part, i think people get into rap because its more rebellious, and they feel more "badass", you know, cause you look at the kids growing up these days, theres a whack load of violence and what not....and alot of shit, i think, is influenced alot by music........but thats just my opinion, i listen to both, but not as much rap, nothing really mainstream
