Immortal Technique overrated?
 

ok i have listened to 5 songs and in every song i heard the same guy say shit about slaves if you listen to just about every song you will here a slave line

but on the other hand he got dope lines, so Immortal technique good or bad?

from what ive heard i think Immortal Technique is good but not great better than most but not the best
every one praises Immortal Technique and shit but i dont they are not my style i guess

i don't think five songs is really enough to form an opinion
about him. And depending on which songs you heard you might
love him or hate him. I suggest you listen to a broad spectrum
of his songs to get a real feel for him. But anyways, yeah he
is a bit over rated. Although like someone else said in this thread
it's mostly just net kids who are doing so. They see someone
they idolize, another member or whatever, and instantly jump
on the bandwagon calling him the dopest ever. I personally think
he has good content, very political in nature as well as having
some pretty ill metas or similies or whatever you want to call him.
After you listen to him for a while it does start to get redundant
though. And his flow is kind of basic and not that appealing if
you ask me. Basically he is just a dope lyricist. On the other hand
off the net i wouldn't say he is over rated at all. Rather he
garnishes a lot of respect from underground heads and whatnot,
but still is fairly unknown to many. Revolutionary vol 3 is coming out
soon, so i'll be waiting to see how he approaches it. Should be
good though. Also he's doing a remix of 'bin laden' which will
include KRS one and Chuck D of Public Enemy; it's going
to be ill for sure

Chuck D sucks tho...

Chuck D is the pioneer of political rap. Which is probably why
he's onboard for the collabo. He may not be ill by today's standards
but you have to respect what he's done for hip-hop. He more or
less set the stage for rappers like tech. You never know though, he might
come dope, though i'm not sure what roll he'll play in the track.
I haven't heard much as far as details on this.

He was my favorite emcee for a while then i realised how played out the shit he was saying is, his tracks can be very similar. Plus his voice and flow is kinda anoying. But he can tell stories very well eg. "Dance with the devil" & "You never know."

His next albums supposed to be about him growing up and street life though. Should be some dope shit.

Yeah i agree the political stuff is kind of his gimmic i guess
you could say, and it does get tired after a while. Revolutionary
vol. 1 had kind of a different feel to it though. it seemed more
like a battle/ boasting oriented type of album. Where as vol. 2
was on a political tip. Im anxious to see how he approaches vol. 3

i like his stuff but his political stuff has gotten played out. Another thing I've always kinda wondered about his slavery thing that hes talkin about. Since he's latino do blacks have a prollem with him talkin about slavery? I know some places blacks and latinos roll together and other places they have wars between eachother.
