Do You think African Americans should recieve them?
I've done a 12 page essay on the topic, so dont come in here with ignorant rebuttles. please think out all answers...

and just sum FYI... blacks wouldnt be the 1st to recieve reparations. Jappanese americans have, Koreans, Native Americans, South Africans, Jews and at least 10 different body of peoples.

a white kid told me today that Blacks in the US are among the highest paid people of African Descent. and that he should be happy with the way we are living now. so thats why we dont need repararions...

but when i asked him to compare the cost of living in america to the cost of liveing in other countries he couldnt do that. but in saying that, It costs 5x as much to live in the US as it does in other countries, so the standard of living isnt "much" different. Noted that sum african couontries like Rowanda are WAAAAY worse off than the grimest hoods of the US but thats an exception to the rule.... but even still the residual effects of slavery are omnipresent in almost all facets of life in the US and Africa.

I'll start to talk about the Wealth Gap between african americans and european ameicans later...

ummmm 1 thing before i start... Native Americans have received reparations... They recieve scolarships and other econmical benifits from the US govt. look into that.

i wouldnt expect u to understand the long term effects slavery has had on the economic, and mental status of common day african americans, for the simple fact that u are a foreigner...

but picture this... lets say slavery never existed... The "Jim Crowe Laws" and "Black Codes" that my Grandparents went through, and to sum extent my parents, are deserving enough to recieve reparations alone.

and as for the irish... thats another subject and i dont know enough about it to have a set opinion on. so i wont speak on it

if slavery never happened then chances are that black people wouldnt have come over here because they were perfectly fine with the way their lives were in africa

there is historical proof that Western Africans traveled as to the Americas and did trade with the natives... please brush up on your history... it is safe to say that eventually Africans, through contact with native americans would have eventual come to inhabit the continent

they already do its called welfare

look at it like this, If they can come to the US and enjoy the benifits of racism and the other freedoms the US has to offer then they should be apart of the healing process. Nothing in this world is free...

an my opinnon is that not black people in general should recieve resperations, but money into poor communities, with black, white, mexican, asians...whatever live there, money should be spent on makin america ah better place for the individual, not the race, ya feel me?

tru... but what i also intentionally forgot to mention is that early in the history of US slavery. sum blacks owned sum whites as slaves. so sum whites would recieve repaarations as well...

but one thing i would like to see is free education. as in college... thats a communist idea but its a good one. with all the this money spends on funding war and sports stadiums and other irrelevant bullshit that money could be used to pay the college tuition of every student in the us for more than the next 50 years... i've seen the numbers... its possible

This is a interesting subject sure does rise alot of question til this day, I agree with Tephlon's original statement.
For me from what I know history wise Calm you have done good research, but why do some people always play the slave card now in 2005 thats crazy because slavery did happen no doubt, and whites did treat afrian americans with disrespect but that was not even close to today's times. I believe some not all find it as a way to be lazy and not work hard for what they earn. Latinos were slaves as well, granted all these stereotypes we still find a way to prove those theories wrong. So on this subject I would have to say no unless equal oppurtunties go for the rest, which do u think will happen anytime soon, nah...

As for the school yeah it should be free everywhere I agree, here in TX we pay to go to community college about 500 & university just to get more advanced and that sucks

to address "...'s" statement about the percentage of whites in the ciuntry and thats why the run it....naw man numbers dont mean anything,[. even in a democracy. blacks n hispanics could be the majority and whites would still be in countrol.... have u ever heard of "Aparthied"?.. thats when the White minority in South Africa held sole control of the South African govt. the whites were only 10% of the south african population. yet they still ran the country for more than 50 years...

to Mizpunky-- even if we dont focus on slavery. we can still ask for reparations from the early 1900's when the Jim Crow Laws and Black Codes were in effect. those laws were the laws that kept blacks from voting, promoted the seprate but equal bullshit that wasnt equal at all. and remember Lynchings occured in the country up until as late as the 1950's. when looking back at time that wasnt that long ago. that was in the time of my grandparents. and i know i'm not the only with great grand parents still alive....

so please ppl b4 dropping your oppinion take a look at sum facts...

that should be quite obvious...blacks are a minority, white being the majority....what you would need to find out is the percentage of people on welfare of each race to equally compare the two
