Bigger Problem in Hip Hop

Alright, i know a bunch of people are always talkin about the problems wit hip-hop today and i know two specific things that people usually talk about.. so i was wonderin which one yall think is the bigger problem......

A) Gunplay in verses
B) Club-bangin unlyrical shit

Imma vote neither cuz to me hip-hop is all about expressing yourself no matter what the hell that is, but yall always whine about this shit so i wanted to get ur opinion on which one is the main problem...

Zen Theory 04-28-05 10:51 PM

Gun Play....words are weapons, you shouldn't have to resort to real ones to get a message across..hip hop needs revolutionaries, not thug wannabes

dfunk 04-29-05 02:41 AM

Club bangers. Its ruining the lyrical aspect. Nuff said.

Lyriclesolja 04-29-05 03:44 AM

Neither of them are ruining Hip Hop because Hip Hop is a form of expression......for example telling someone where you have been (in the club)....telling someone what you have done (gun play)......Hip Hop is a good form of expression no matter how it is expressed.....

KOOL COL-B 04-29-05 04:07 AM

i like tha club shit n i luv tha gunplay, so neither, werd

Siks J 04-29-05 11:42 AM

The guns thing cause who wants to listen bout shootin peeps ALL THE DAMN TIME

Murdah.txt 04-29-05 12:28 PM

gunplay cause half these kid talkin bout burnerz never seen or will never even hold a glock it sickens me..........

B. Magik 04-29-05 03:31 PM

^^Weerd...what he said...But forreal, both can be annoying as fuck, but I guess Lil Bleezy up there do got a point about it being all about expression...But I hate this mainstream clubshit! How do they have big record deals and the good vets on here dont? Whatever...

Sean Gunner 04-29-05 03:58 PM

Hmm, well in my opinions it's not "ruining" Hip Hop, but it is taking away a lot of the things that made hip hop so great. The lyrics were amazing and truthful, but now it's all bout wanna be thugs and "gangsters". In my opinion, morons are degrading Hip Hop.

J-Money 04-29-05 05:18 PM

i say club songs.. it takes the lyricism out of hip hop and everybody always talkin about the same shit

yo no hate casper...but you use that...I use that...we all use that...nomatter who's ever touched one or actually seen one, we all talk about it bcuz it's just what people wanna hear...

I think that most people rap about things that people wanna hear rather than expressin themselves truly..it's like a trend...basically like how everyone pulls their pants halfway down now...it's the same idea..

so I say gunplay is a problem and so is non lyrical club bangers...which most of them...are annoying...their both the problem, but i just wanted to point out the thing about gunplay...feel me?

MetEoR-K 04-29-05 07:43 PM

club bangers, it's just party music, but now it's taking over... hip hop shouldn't be about banging girls and gettin drunk

None...

I don't like the gun play all the time or the constant club bangers but it's just a part of hip hop. I don't think it's ruining it, like others said already it's a form of expressing yourself and everyone can do it however they like. There are still dope lyrical songs out there who enjoys those more. I think hip hop got something for everyone including those club bangers and gun play so they're not ruining it. People just have to stop whining all the time.

Dirty Nigga 05-01-05 07:46 AM

LOL...
cant yall see the difnce?
hip hop = lyrical artform
rap = the mainstream game
club bangers = not hip hop

there is no problem with hip hop.......there are diffrent definitions of the game.....an the RAP game is the mainstream side of it, hip hop is the lyrical unsigned hype side, with battling, an real lyrics, hip hop an rap are generally considerd diffrent things in my opinnon..

Adamant 05-01-05 08:17 AM

^ yep.

I'd say neither of those are really responsible for what some might the call
the degradation of hip-hop. I don't even consider the club demographic
hip-hop to be completely honest. In my opinion it seems more pop than
anything; ie crunk, etc...And as for gunplay that's really non-applicable.
There has always been that sort of content in songs; I mean if you live it
then of course you are going to rap about. I think it's the glorification of it
that's a bad thing and it really sends the wrong message. The shitty part
being is that's what you get from a lot of main stream artists like 50 for
example and that's where most derive their stereotypes as rap being a bunch
of gun toting thugs. It's different though if you can talk about it and have
a message or make light of it in the respect that it's a problem that needs solving.
Anyways, I feel like the excessive commercializtion is the worst thing for
hip-hop. True, people do make music for it to be heard, and be heard by
lots of peeps, but i feel money plays into it too much these days. People have
become more concerned with the latest beefs, seeling the most records,
contracts etc. rather than making good music.

Cannibal Sativa 05-01-05 09:29 AM

hip hop has no problem because like the dude said rap and hip hop and fuckin crunk music are all different things but until the day when the masses of cattle are no longer led around by the nose ring mainstream garbage and dance shit will reign supreme.......and theres no way to stop that except maybe through education

High-Dro 05-02-05 12:57 AM

club bangers...generally speaking, no good lyricism comes out of club music...it's just to make pre-pubescent white girls shake their so-called "asses" at shitty high school dances...but those who answer this question will do so based upon what part of music they like, so practically all answers will be completely biased...

but, in conclusion, i would just like to say that Drama Queen is hot and i want her to have my children

Mentalz 05-02-05 01:33 AM

Personally I see hip hop and rap as two seperate things now. Rap is all the commercial "ThRoW yA hands UP!" bullshit, hip hop is more Last Emporer, Supernatural, Binary Star, Copy Write.... More underground. Just my Opinion.

MizPunky 05-02-05 02:09 AM

I would have to say Club Bangers, that wasn't how it was back in the day but like they say sex sales

Ill-Grammatix 05-03-05 06:34 PM

when i'm in the club... i wanna hear whatever makes me move with the honies... when i'm with my boys... sometimes i can tolerate the gun play... but if that's all you about then to me you a garbage emcee... i also like the mos def's and the rass kass'... the rakim's.... it's all about what mood you in.... but yeah... that ABC rhyme shyt?.... i hate that with a passion...no complexity whatsoever and kats be like... "Yo, , son is dirty...he da truth!!!" producers should start getting picky about who they give a hot track to... too many hot beats..not enough hot lyricists... and THAT'S the REAL problem!!! werd

Compose 05-03-05 06:40 PM

Both of them are annoying as fuck to me but i would say i hate gunplay more...if you have an occasional rhyme or you say something about a gun a few times in a song...then i dont care, but when you got more then 75% of the song talking about how many guns u have and what your gonna do with them...that pisses me the fuck off

peace
