Is There A God???...
I Think This Is One Of The Most Fought About Topics...
So I Felt It Needed To Be Presented To The Boards... ------------------------------------------ Personally, I Dont Believe In A God... I Dont Believe That There Is A Place In The Clouds Or Ground... A Heaven Or Hell That We Are Sent To Based On The Actions Of Our Lives... And In My Eyes The Story Around God Are So Smothered In Lies... And Now, Im Talking Specifically About The Catholic Religions God... I Dont Know Enough About Other Gods To Comment... But In The Catholic Religion A Story Of Creation Brings Us To Adam And Eve... There Are Two Stories Related To This Creation... One Inwich Has Man (Adam) Working For God... Till And Working The Land Until He Is Rewarded... When A Sand Storm Whirls About And Brings The Creation Of Woman... The Idea Of A Race Being Created By Whirling Sand Is Just So Obtuse... The Second Story Has Adam Living In This Paradise... And God See's He Is Lonley And Wishes To Give Him A Parter... So God Takes One Of His Ribs And Creates Woman With It... Again This Is Just Entirely Rediculous... I Mean, If You Really Wanna Think It Through One Could Argue... Through Cloning Even Today Humans Can Be Generated By DNA... But This Process Does Not Take A Night... And That Is Just The Problems With The Creation Of Man... The Way That The Bible Creats So Many Excuses For God Is Rediculous... The Bible For Most Part Says No Matter What God Planned It... But If Someone Gets Cancer, God Tries But This Is Your Real Purpose... Its Just Crap... I Dunno, I Have So Many More Points To Argue... But Id Like To Get Some Other Responses First... Prefferable Rebutting My Statements... Im Open Minded, But I Would Like To Have A Discussion... Get At Me... .One. |
i believe, i go to church but i feel the stories and stuff are all story.
i didnt believe till last year but your right.... but then again how you think we began.... it took 7 days to create the world but who said the days were 24 hours... it took a long time to create us and everything else so when he was done he let the moon go down |
i unno.... i come to jesus or god everyday.. they dont answer me... so im not sure...

There's a difference between the existence of God and the creation of mankind. I do not believe all stories in the bible and that's good because they cannot be interpretated in the literal sense. The stories express a sort of life wisdom throughout concrete examples.
I strongly believe in God but wish not to define Him in any way and the same goes for Jezus, heaven, hell et cetera. Personally I feel God is what you make from Him. I do not go to church at all because I don't have the need to proof my belief to others, mostly hypocrits in fact. Because around here, people go to church because it's the right thing to do. I pray to God, sometimes just to thank Him for the life I have been given, sometimes to ask Him for help and guidance. I've had a rough time when a few loved ones had died in a short amount of time because I questioned: if there is a God, why would He take them away? But I understand it's just the mystery of life no one can define. However I do understand you can put your trust into God but in the end, you have to create your own chances, seize moments and grab opportunities. God can only guide you, He cannot do it for you. |
OK, i believe in God. I thought i did every since i was little put now that i think about it i really wasn't serious. The thing about God is, God can't be explained. How do you explain someone that was sleeping and God reached inside him and took out his rib to make a woman? How do you explain God turning the water into wine? How do you explain a book that was written Thousands of years ago and still pertains to the stuff that happens in everyday life? God isnt' meant to be explained, he is just him. Good things happen to bad people because bad people get what they deserve in the end. I didn't believe in God because i couldn't see him. But i can't see air and i can still breathe it in ya kno? So with God, you gotta find your own Revalation. Your own truth, if you want to understand God, you gotta start with yourself. He will help you out. Trust.

But See This Is What I Mean... You Just Make Up Exuses For God... So Now No Matter What He Is Never Wrong... I Mean, If I Screw Something Up And Get Blamed... I Can Easily Creat A Story Finding A Scapegoat And Getting Me In The Clear... The Stories Of God And The Bliefs Are Doing Nothing More Than That... And Ya, I Went To Church Every Sunday When I Was A Kid... Until Prolly Age 12 And I Realized This All Everytime I Went... And I Realized All The Little Kids Fiddling And Playing With Stuff During The Service... And It Was Just So Aparent To Me That This Is Uderly Useless... And That Faith Is Nothing More Than A Drug... Its No More Or Less Then An Adrenaline Rush Or Emotional Eaters... In A Time Of Pain Often People Need Something To Stablize Their Feelings... Faith Is Just That, And Nothing More... Just As Easily These People Could Turn To Food Or Drugs... But The Church Tells Us To Think That God Can Help Everything... And In A State Of Vulnerabilty We're Sucked Into Anothers Beliefs... In My Opinion The Church Simply Manipulated Our Ways Of Thinking... As Do Presidents To Get Elected, Kings To Peasants, Dictators To Societies, Ect... Any Thoughts On This???... Get At Me... .One. |
I don't personally believe in a such 'God'. Nor do I believe a 'God' created the universe, I just think there is insufficient evidence that highlight's the fact that there actually is a 'God'.
|
the church isnt proof that God is real......people who believe God is real do so because they have FAITH in that fact......if you're comepletely sure of something it doesnt have to be tangible for you to believe in it......what i dont understand is how the fuck did they get so many different kinds of religions out of one bible? all there shits say the same thing.........i say read whatever you want and make your own choices without being influenced by a church of any nature and then if you have an interest in it find a place that is suitable for you or start your own on some david koresh shit............but to answer the question: yes God is definitely real........the only other answers to the universe are too circumspect to be real........who hasnt figured that out by now aside from a few atheists with their heads in the clouds?

Blah, There Arent To Many REAL Athiests...
Most Of Then Are These Kids Who Just Want To Rebel... So They Call Themselves Athiests And Worship The Devil... With That Action In Itself Contridicts The Title Of Athiest... Because If You Believe In The Devil, Then Thats Your God... He's Still A God, That Wouldnt Change Because He Contridicts A Traditional Christine God... Im Kinda Worried That Kids May Think Im That Way Cuz Of This Thread... Im Not In Fact A Devil Worshiper... If I Pledged Myself To The Devil That Would Be The Same As Pledging Myself To God... The Only Difference Is I Would Have Another Set Or Rules And Morals... And Its Not Even That Completely Disregard God... Its Simply That There Are Questions I Am Curious About... And So Far The Answers I've Been Given Have Led Me To Believe In Other Things... Someone Could Tell Me Something One Day That Just Sparks An Epiphany... But Until The Day My Idea Are Invalidated Questions Are All I Have... I Actually Support Reincarnation More Than Christianity... Im White And Was Raised Christian... So I Really Know Nothing About Religions Based Around Reincarnation... But For Somereason That Way Of Afterlife Is Just The Most Logical... I Think Like Budists And Muslims Believe In Reincarnation... But I Really Know Nothing About Either Or These Religions... .One. |
nope.....
read my om..no god would do that. |
the open mic in my sig shows why i dont think there is...

DQ is right. The translation of the bible could be fucked or something, but it is definitely not meant to be taken literlally (well genesis anyway). Darwins theory of evolution could even corellate with the first book of the bible if you thought about it the right way.
In the bible it says god doesnt feel time, so the 7 days mentioned in genesis could be a metaphor for millions of years. Who knows how long a day would be for god? It states that Adam was created from the ground. Whats not to say he didnt start out in the ground as a simple organism that eventually evolved into humans? How can we even be sure "Adam" was one person, and not just a representation of the entire race? Women are the species reproducers, so maybe the story of Adam's rib turning into eve was just a cell splitting in two in a volcanic mudbath billions of years ago. You just don't know. I'm not even a christian. I have my own beliefs that I formed from many religions, because they are probably different views on the same thing. If you think about it, christianity, judaism, buddhism, islam, hinduism, etc etc all have key points that make sense in all the religions. I don't know if I explained that right. But the existence of God is still what i'm not sure about. God could just be another metaphor for the mind or something like that. |

1. Anything is possible... 2. The Bible is not to be taken seriously but only a guideline...it could be a bunch of made up stories just so people can have faith in what theyre doing and carry on... 3. Nobody knows...and thats how it will stay until we die or someone is ressurected case closed...kill yourself if you want to find out peace |
^but you still will find out that there is no god...
so if theres no god, theres nothing more to find out... |
^exactly...the question is, is there a god?...
if your dead...your dead...so the answer is no there is no god if you stay alive in another life or in heaven or whatever...then there is god nobody needs to "tell you" if theres a god or if your completely dead...you can infer things and basically common sense will say...if your dead your fucking dead lol peace |
I believe in god, maybe not the lies and stories behind it, but i believe theres something out there that created us. Saying that there is no God because he didnt help u pass a test or he let someone close to you die is just an excuse to blame someone else, theres millions of ppl in the world who talk to god everyday...how could he answer everyone at the same time??! When something good does happen to you, you should take it for granteed and realize God finally came to you. Plus the only other theory of exsistence is evolution...and to say we are really monkeys?? come on...how does a monkey just turn into a man?

its called eveloution, we just didnt get created like this.... like how does a fish that never left the oceon have the abiltity over years to travel on land to find another water source??? eveloution |
Everything in this world is fine-tuned. If the constants were altered slightly (an example of constant is the gases in stars or the amount of gravity of the sun or planets) then NOTHING could exist. This may have just been a very lucky coincidence, or there could be a god. If there is a god, theres no proof its the one in hindu scriptures, or the quaraan, or the bible. It may not even be a "God" in our term of the word.
The universe is an ever expanding bubble-like thing, right? That has been proved. So whats outside the bubble? Outside the universe, time as we know it, matter, reality, all of these would cease to exist. So it could be eternal nothingness that the mind cannot comprehend, it could be another world in which we're some alien's science project. Its possible to create a universe my compressing a whole lot of matter which results in a big bang... But we dont have the technology. So this universe could just be some fools game or something. And the fact that this universe is made of NOTHING really isnt very reassuring. You're prolly like "omg man sif this universe is made of nothing, liek, im looking at my scr33n right now and sitting 0n my chair... duh." Well thats all well and good, but that chair is made of molecules, which are made of atoms, which are made of protons, neutrons and electrons which are made of particles. You're probably thinking like particles of sand or debris or little bits of dust, but the particles that make up atoms are different. These particles are actually nothing. They dont exist. They have never been seen, but it is known they exist, but they dont. Thats probably kind of confusing -_-. But if we take it up one level, look at protons neutrons and electrons. They are made of electricity. And they make up atoms, which make up molecules which make up everything. So in simple terms, everything is electricity. And this electricity that everything is, is made up of nothing. So basically, nothing exists. And since nothing exists there probably isnt a "God" in the spiritual sense of the word. But there might be, and it is even more likely there is just a greater being, NOT a god. Cos this world doesnt exist, maybe its just some crazy aliens computer game or something. You never know. [/displaying vast knowledge to clueless fools] |
It was nothingNess

I say there is a god. Fuck you if you disagree. :shoot:

But how do you know? Them dudes piss me off... those "OMG LIKE THERE IS A GOD U GOTTA TRUZT YOUR SOUL" People dont have souls. Theres no proof of it, and our perception of self and personality is just a whole lot of electrical signals in our brain giving us an illusion of actually having an individual personality. And what is our brain made of? Nothing. |
we don't need proof. Just read Mary Janes post. That should be enough. I guess nothing good ever happened to you to make you not believe in god.

Well, the God depicted in the bible could answer everyones prayers at the same time since he is supposedly an eternal being that exists in every space possible, and in every time-frame imaginable, and his power is beyond human comprehension. Thats "liek how he could answer everyone at the same time!?!?!." OK. Next time I spend my hard earned money to gain access to a gymnastics centre, go there twice a week for 6 months, learn the basic movements of a technique, work hard as fuck practicing the shit at the gym, break even more avid sweat doing whatever muscular resistance training is necessary to learn the technique, practice some more, conquer any fears asscociated with the technique, eventually learn the technique on padded floors and hurt myself a lot in the process of transferring it from that to the concrete/grass, then i'll thank god for teaching me a kewl new trick that I should liek.... not take for liek.... granteed. Or maybe i'll thank myself for it. Which one makes more sense? Go read up on Darwin's theory of evolution. The monkeys didnt just go "Hey man, I heard its pretty cool to be a human nowadays, lets magically turn ourselves into men." The change happened slowly over millions of years. Quote:
I read it, and it was full of bullshit. What should I do now? |
ok..being a christian myself, one of the ways i heard someone answered this question was like this:
Do you believe George Washington crossed the Delaware River? Do you believe he was the first president? Do you believe that Christopher Columbus rode on a boat and landed in the United States? ok Why do you believe this? What proof do you have that says this is true? Most people will say because it was written. OK, see where im going with this? Thats just one of the many ways to explain the truth behind the Bible. If you dont understand this but you do want to know more email me at gee_sus_wox@yahoo.com |
OMB. if you asking me then I suggest you go to chuch or just keep doing ya thing and you'll end up in hell..... not my problem... my mom says I shouldn't even aruge with people like you because they won't understand ever if they don't under stand now.... lol.

I went to church every sunday for 10 years, and then every few sundays for 6 years after that. But i'm not a christian. I was until I was about thirteen, then I started to read the bible myself and try to decipher all the shit thats in there.
Because of this curiosity I completed a course on theology(the study of the bible) as an extra curricular in grades 9-12. I loosely determined that christianity is not the "correct" religion, in a sense, if there even is a "correct" religion. In fact, what is most likely according to the scriptures of YOUR religion, is that no one religion is completely right, and what is right is either a mixture of some or all of them or a different kind of spirituality all together. |
church doesnt make u a christian.....
.....a church is there for your benefit...1) to learn more about the bible and the purpose in our lives...2) to be able to be helped when u need it by the people there or to help others..... .....the question " How do you know the Bible is real? " i believe cant be answered because its by faith that you would trust in God..... ...thats how i see it... |
It seems awfully convenient. Believe in a God there is no proof of, so you can go to a place that has never been seen, and live a good life etc etc or you'll go to a shitty place that nobody has been to.

I have never been to church except when I was very little a few times or to marriage/funeral. Does that make me a bad christian? Hell no...remember how God is everywhere right? He is within yourself because you cannot hear/touch/see Him, all you have is your faith. So I prefer not to go to church and sit with a bunch of hypocrits (big part of them at least) that don't even know the meaning of what they are saying and claim to believe in. |
im not even going to try to get all super deep on this topic, but i know that GOD exists. it doesnt matter who believes me or not. im not trippin' on it. its called "faith" people.
^^^word. s.v. |
I believe in God, not in religion.
|
LIke I said before....it's by faith that you believe in God..........
..........it even says that in the Bible... |
