How do you get held back in high school... It's based on credits, right?

^ Yeah, but if you fail the necessary classes (e.g. science, math, english) you have to retake them.. either in summer school or the next year, as if you don't you won't have the necessary credits to graduate.

So, essentially it's like being held back, but they don't call it that.
