Streetball..

The unspoken 5th element of Hip Hop?

What you think?

Thassarap 08-30-05 09:02 PM

if its a sport, i dont see how it could be an element of rap

Serial 08-30-05 09:03 PM

Basketball but with the street element an different rules. ITs huge in North America.. holding little tournaments an competitions all over NA.

and from the looks of this thread, no one else knows
i bt u'll get a lot more responses now that someone wasnt too embarrassed to admit to not knowing this...
and no i dont think its a hiphop element... its an element of urban culture, but has nothin to do with hiphop

Daubs 08-30-05 09:24 PM

I know what you mean but it aint imo.

Nobody hardly plays it over here and we still kinda hip hop.

Serial 08-30-05 09:28 PM

Yeah I see its still only a North American thing..

Its definetly gettin bigger.

Castro... 08-30-05 10:06 PM

werd around my hood hip hop is street and streetball is played in the street, but i wouldnt consider it an "element" but I would consider it part of hip hop just not big enuff to say it's the 5th element.

Grave Digger 08-30-05 10:10 PM

ill say no...........................

snipes 08-31-05 12:00 AM

no
.

Terumoto 08-31-05 01:31 AM

Maybe not an element...

Its sort of like its own little mini culture. Not every hip hop head plays ball, and not every baller is a hip hop head. Although most are.. but not real hip hop. Some rappers play, sort of.. and some players rap (hot sauce ) but I dont know. It couldnt be considered an element.

But the real secret fifth element is beatboxing. Think about it. Its a huge part of hip hop..

Ryan Hughes 08-31-05 01:38 AM

Idk....I think...it plays a big part in streetball.......but in the music sense.....not an un spoken Element.....

Dirty Nigga 08-31-05 08:45 AM

Nah, this thread is right....

Streetball...not nba, but streetball is a part of urban culture, not sure streetball is an elemant of hip hop as such, but streetball was a big part of hip hop when it was originated.....& OMB was right and beatboxin is a big elemant of hip hop......

but streetball certainly has an influence of the hip hop world....and it is a big part of the whole hip hop culture....

CataclyzM-i-C 08-31-05 01:19 PM

hhhhhheeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllll no...basketball is basketball nigga !

Blay'all 08-31-05 03:13 PM

yeah, I would say Streetball is about as vital of a part of Hip-Hop culture in North America today as anything else..

You're arguement cant really hold weight cause not every emcee can break dance, not every grafitti artist can emcee, not every emcee can spin, feel me?
