What top 5 MCs influence you?
For me:
The Roots (perferably Black Thought) Mos Def Canibus Jean Grae Talib Kweli Yea, I made it a routine to listen to them every morning and every evening when i'm writting. Its helped me improve on various aspects, and to me, Jean is one of the best female mcs out there. But yea, those are my influence. If i could add another, it would be common, those guys are too soulful and represent true hip hop. So what about everyone else? |

50Cent Ying Yang Twins Pretty Ricky Bow Wow Cam'Ron cuz they suck and I wanna be the eXact opposite of them :) but seriously though... Eminem ...dude is purely sikk (fuck that eXplining him away shit) Nas ...dude is a skraight up gheto prophet T.I. ...nigga's real as hell, flow's off the chain (and I, who HATEs Southern rappers, says this) Tupac ...thug ass nigga with the sould of a true poet, his emotion ALWAYS conveyed the depth of his words, you always knew he really meant what he was saying Kanye West ...amidst all these "bling bling" "crunk" and "shoot 'em up" rappers, he's a breath of fresh air and you may not like 'em, but he's also REAL... anybody that says Kanye is "too cocky" and likes Jay-Z obviously doesn't listen to much Jay-Z cuz that's the cockiest muh FUCKah in the game...just cuz Kanye doesn't say it in his lyrics but verbaliZes it in his every day speech and Jay-Z only says it in his raps, doesn't mean that Kanye is an ass hole with no talent...why shouldn't he think that he's the best?...in reality, EVERY rapper should believe in their mind that they are the best...believing that you're the best doesn't discredit anyone else's skills, it just means that you're confident and there's NEVER anything wrong with that unless you start calling out names and say "I'm better than so and so" and Kanye does not do that... |
cam'ron is far from garbage

... This Isnt To Much Realness In That Music Truth = Undergroud |
Depends what commercial music your talking about. See theres usually a reason why underground cats are underground.. Its usually a defining aspect of their music or their image that means they just cant sell to larger crowds.
Take Jedi Mind Tricks for example, awesome group, love their music... But Vinnie Paz is a fat white dude and their music is horrorcore underground which means real large target audiences are just not gonna feel anything their making. I could list a bunch of others, but you get my drift. I used to be a big time underground junky untill I actually came to the realisation that underground rap as we know it, just wont sell as many copies and now a days, I actually now enjoy my style of 90's big time commercial with underground rhyme schemes a hell of a lot more than making underground shit just for hip hop heads. Its broardened my perspective on music heaps and even though I hate a lot of groups, their is certain commercial rappers I would listen to over underground any day. |

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with you. Fuck everybody, Jay Z was the Nelly of his day. That's not overexaggerating his garbage either. Kanye West is just overrated as hell. His shit gets old SOOO fast, it's pointless even downloading his music. |
