Yo!! wtf is happening to freestyle battling nowadays........yo other day I battled this nigga down on guy r. brewer(if u from queens u know where I'm talking bout)....an this nigga spit a verse about how hood he is....not one line was directed at me..everything was "I run the block blah, blah, blah"..."I sell so much crack blah, blah, blah"....an then I follow him wit a verse not mentioning the street at all..every line is a diss to him...jus ate him up....an the dumbasses watching saying he won...cuz I aint say enuff street shit....wtf is that?

You know, rap is all about street shit now, insulting people is so years ago.

Suck son. I've been there. Now a days, its more of what appeals to the street when it comes to freestyles.

You have to get at serious battles, not corners. Some corners know whats up with battle rapping, but that shits more for "in-stores".

You ever done "in-stores"? You really can't curse in a lot of them. They try to make it more challenging.

Or even better, try to find a club or some shit just for spit'n. I know NY gotta have 'em.

yo i aint battled in a minute so i dont know how the scene is now but when i battled before it would be more self glorify....thats what would win....but i like dissing the people....but it wouldnt be a self glorify about street shit .but rather self glorify about how your better...and what you can do and shit....with more metaphores then punchlines.......but yea.....i dont really see people battle over here.....and if i did go up to any random MC it would most likly be that i will loose becuase i aint gangsta....stupid shit.....

its worse. round here. niggaz come to freestyle battles with papers. on some writing shit. its funny in my opinion. cause i can think off the top of my mind. but i can't usually say it properly i'll stutter or something. so usually when i freestyle i stutter and fuck up. cause its just the way i talk. but i can go slow and just keep it flowing. but never write. and if im battlin a dude i dont know i usually diss what he wearin. then on to some nexx shit

Recently I been on some serious freestyling shit. When I'm real motivated I can free just as good as I can write. I don't know if trip remember, but I sorta choked against him on a yahoo cypher. (Goddamnit its confusing) Mainly because I usually do better with a specific target or topic. I can't just randomly say shit because I need to focus on something. When I focus I do good as shit and can defeat anybody. No exaguration, anybody.

Yeah when I don't have shit to focus on I usually rely on the multi rhyme scheme to determine what I'ma say next. Like let's say I said "You the worst in the city" I'd then think of rhymes like "burst in a frenzy" or BS like that. I just hate when people always tell me "spit somethin'". I'm always like "wtf spit what?".

i think online more people conentrate on dissin the person literally not street talk most people online grow too know gun talk is overrated and gay....but imo trip u shoulda won

some of the battles at school all revolve around self-glorifying, which makes no sense at all..
kids be saying how good they are at battles, and how nobody can beat them in their verses...shits gay, id jus save it for a track.
i think people are sort of losing the idea of what a battle is supposed to be, its really straying from the whole "diss" aspect.
i unno, theres still the group of kids who ahead of the pack at my school, they all battle like they supposed to...but yea shit do bug me too.

yea, next time have ur friends that don't mind hurting ur feelings give u feedback.... battling has lost it's appeal to me, seeing as it mostly depends on the judges mood, or d/r votes...... how many ppl do u think became hall of famers on 106 & Park, just bcuz the judges didn't wanna vote against the crowd favorite.... anyone that gets 5 wins on there is in...... sorta the same thing anywhere else now.......

The freein scene isnt as big in aus as it was in cali... So I dont know about recently.

In addition to a few of the points made in this thread *didn't bother reading it all*, it also depends on who you battle. Certain people may attract certain crowds, which brings with a different level of expectation. There's more but I could really care less about explaining those right now.

werd to this, i was battlin sum guy at my school, and he was rhymin like my grandma, whilst i woz rippin the shit outta him wit punchlines and then every1 else sed that he won. half the people i know just dont understand rap at all lol

Yea, freestylin has gone down the drain, and the simple fact is because peeps dont know the real reason behind hip hop anymore. They're stuck on the glamer that their sight is too foged up wit cash and jewelry. Thats probably why I dont freestyle anymore. I figured that i concentrate on a better writer, and its working pretty well. So yeah, i gave up freestylin. Maybe I will go back to it in the future, but it would only be for showin off.
