05/06 Modern Day...Rap?

Is modern day rap slowly dying?

seems like these days...in order to record a ''hit'' in the rap game...all you need is a tight beat?

lyrical content dont seem to matter in the game these days?

would y'all agree?

let's see some opinnons, yo.

i agree to a certain extent.

I think its mainly cos theres a lot of cats out there that can spit madd lyrics, but unless the beat backs it up, no one really wants to know.

So really if ya beat is that good, the vocal only has to be half decent cos its the beat that grabs people

Most hip hop fans are dickriders, they dont appreciate the lyrics and effort put in.

'05/'06? Man, you're more behind the times than Flava Flav. Commercial rap has been dead since 2003 at least.

I swear now it should be

"kanye west or pharell beat feat some rapper."

No, it's not dying. It has been dead for about 3 years.

fuck making a "hit" to make a hit you need to sell your soul. sellout to mainstream, sell out to the commercialism wrecking our culture.

I make music for me, and seen as Im the same as alot of real rap heads, there will be the selected few that like it. (the true school)
Im not making music to be "number one" or "to make alot of cash" I make music for the straight fact to make music, fuck the mainstream, only the true undergrounds heads care for hip hop culture.
We are the ones making music for each other, not for 8 year old kids to yell "just loose it nah nah nah nah"

My favorite rap songs came 3-4 years ago when Eminem was hot in his prime. Now he's gettin whack as all. Then there was 50 Cent with In Da Club, Wanksta, and 21 Questions. Then Ludacris had Move Bitch and Roll Out...Nelly was hot then too with Air Force 1s, Country Grammer, #1. Then there was some Outkast songs......That was the first time I got to like rap a lot mainly because of some of these songs.

I know right...this shit is mad old, raps been gettin better and better, most of Hip Hops been dead for a while now.

Dirty Nigga 12-08-05 07:14 AM

I don't agree ^

X was droppin heat, Xzibit was dope, Wu tan actually made tracks together, meth n redman was puttin out they own hits.....dre was ill, snoop was ill.....eminem was the bomb when he first dropped.....and it seems rappers dont know shit about elevation and rely souly on a beat to make 'em rich.

The Gladiator 12-08-05 03:23 PM

ehhhh all mainstream is pretty much wack...eminem sold out, ludacris is ight he never sold out but he aint a legend, 50 cent is wack, obie trice underrated but not all THAT great he had a few decent songs, the rest is all trash, look at all the shit they call hits nowadays..laffy taffy (a song on a damn nintendo beat though i gotta admit the 1st guys was funny)..get low by the ying fag twins feat. lil cock and the weakside boyz...
damn by the youngbloodz...theres endless amounts of gay ass wack songs they call hits nowadays and the rappaz are so materialistic that all the hits are about material shit..its nuthin but gettin drunk, whilin out, killin people, rims, 4os, bitches, rims, cars, and shit like that....its not even real anymore
