Trig Help

do you know how to find the missing side of a triangle if theres no right angle? &the other 2 sides are equal..

i definately forgot and i need to know

Daubs 12-12-05 04:26 PM

SOHCAHTOA

sin cos tan.

Untraceable 12-12-05 04:27 PM

lol @ you asking me first then RV

*puts wise guy hat on*

but i didnt know the answer:(

Daubs 12-12-05 04:36 PM

If the missin angle is inbetween the opposite line and the hypotenuse its sin.

Il get a link..

ugh.......anyone with real help please????????

Untraceable 12-12-05 04:38 PM

yay a link........
hurry :)

Untraceable 12-12-05 04:38 PM

but remember there is NO right angle

do you have any angle?

you can use sine law or cosine laws..

sine law: a/sinA=b/sinB

cosine law: c-squared = a-squared + b-squared - 2abcosC

Compose 12-12-05 04:45 PM

uh...if you're tryin to find the side you could just use a squared + b squared = c squared

sohcahtoa is to find the angles i think, ^that formula is for the hypotenuse or whatever last side you need and shit

sohcahtoa =
sine(opposite/hypotenuse)
cosine(adjacent/hypotenuse)
tangent(opposite/adjacent)

using the a squared + b squared = c squared shit, if one side is 5 and another side is 10, 5 squared + 10 squared = 125, the square root of 125 should be the answer...but just do it with whatever numbers it is.

You being in trig + Needing help in trig = You're not ready for trig.

Untraceable 12-12-05 04:46 PM

that would help if it didnt show me ones that have right angles i need an ex of how to do it when there ISNT a right angle present and the other two sides are equal

that not what you mean?

TeamOne 12-12-05 04:54 PM

ugh...... there is NOOOOOOO right angle people......... so quit with this hypotenuse shit

High-Dro 12-12-05 04:56 PM

i gave you the sine and cosine laws and if those don't ring a bell, you didn't "forget" trig, you never knew how to do trig

Untraceable 12-12-05 04:56 PM

thank you least he knows what im looking for.......so can ANYONE help

TeamOne 12-12-05 04:57 PM

and u needa an angle i think....... im tryna think back and i dont think theres any way to tell u the exact answer without an angle

all i can tell u is the answer is 0<x<2y

x= the side u need
y= one of the sides u already have...... so if the two sides are 3 each than it is 0<x<6

Untraceable 12-12-05 05:07 PM

sofar compose and high dro are the only ones im thanking cuz they were the only ones who helped in gettin my to solve this problem........thanks i didnt see you all posted that shit till just a few mins ago....lol.....and actually......im not in trig i graduated i was just doing a problem for my gf thats all

TeamOne 12-12-05 05:09 PM

i guess u figured out that u needed an angleeeeeeeeeeee

Untraceable 12-12-05 05:10 PM

haha ohh yeah and thanks to you^^ cuz you helped as well just not AS much but its all good :)

High-Dro 12-12-05 05:14 PM

werd, son

Untraceable 12-12-05 05:16 PM

but fix was right there is no hypotenuse if there isnt a right angle present and thats where most of you screwed up

p4ntzistheish 12-12-05 05:47 PM

Blasphemy. Well no actually it's not. Hell I don't even know what Blasphemy means. Continue.
