How come blacks and other races in american need to be called "african american" or "asian american" if we never been there? Whites are simply called americans despite them not being native here either. How come we have to feel so alienated :( I just wanna be called american. Is that so wrong =/

nah, blacks and asians are american in my eyes... but, i think its more of people classifying you by your roots. Like blacks are (correct me if i'm wrong) dated back to coming here from africa as slaves. Then as time progressed and you all were givin your rights, you became African Americans.

Even if your born in america and your black or chinese or spanish etc. your going to be called that because its an all around classification.

I look at you all as being individuals. so, i mean, your american no matter what as long as your a registered american, be it born here, came here and got your green card etc.

But, isnt it better in your eyes to be called an African American rather than being called Black. I think its just so much better to be called by what you came from rather than a color.

The roots of this country when it became civilised are based on other races being inferior strait up. I mean everytime something needed to be done they brough over some asians or blacks to do it. Actually, i've taken a class about this in college. The correct term to be used is "people of African Descent" or "people of asian descent" for the simple reason that many jamacians and such that live in the United States, do not want to be considered African American if they are not originally from here. But yea, if you want to learn more, just pm me, or take a class about African American Diasporia Studies :o
