i would put this in audio assistance but all the sites are puttin shit on sale (maybe cuz christmas has ended) for like just this week

Condensor will pick up your voice, along with everything else around you better. Just remember you have to buy a pre amp with it too.

ok to be honest.. the mxl 990 is crap.. is low and its dull.. for the money i guess its a good buy, but 50 dollars aint shit, ya dig ?.. but if u HAVE to have something now.. get that and a presonus preamp.. ya shits still gonna sound bad tho.. cause you need a good sound card.. so i mean for the money and shit.. get a nice pre-amp and that mic.. that should do you OK.. but for real help id say go to RB.. they know more about audio than alot of places.. Opey knows hellas about studio equip and startin people up.. he started me up and im doin pretty good ;)

Studio Headphones - 29.99 (LOL - im cheap)
Computer - $1,599 ..

im about to invest in an Apple computer.. they are way better for audio than PC's..

yo is dere a mic n pre-amp combination that will sound GOOD with a standard stock PC soundcard? Or is a new soundcard essential to nice sound quality?

^It's essential for good mixtape/CD quality.. but for just recording a net battle or soem tracks only meant for the net and cpu speakers...


any mic pretty much over 70 bucks.. and a 100 dollar pre-amp...

the reason for the good pre-amp is because you can use a pre-amp with a new soundcard or old one.. they can be used with anything..


shit.. even a shure 58 dynamic mic would be ok if you knew how to use cool edit.. its all about how you use ya shit.. if u get adequate at cool edit.. you'll have decent quality net wise anyday..


so just for practice and shit.. id say go ahead with the mxl 990 to get used to recording on a condendor.. the storage of a condensor and usage of it.. because if you get a nice one right out the box and fuck it up.. you'll be pissed off..

yo, thanx apexx, i practically got Ikes old setup and his quality was pretty good...... im more lookin for a setup where ill get a "quality is decent/good"

ya know, sumthin that i wont receive complaints for..... and ima learn how to use my shit........ i had bad quality but never really received complaints like "quality is straight ass" and i had a computer mic that made my vocals way too low... and some hanes socks for a pop filter..... :)

and trust me i got everythin nice computer wise...... altho my graphics card is way better than the sound one.... damn FPS's.... now i really think i shoulda spent the money the other way around


and yea, i know that Apple comps are WAYYY better than PC's for makin songs, but shit, i do more than just make music on my comp and my family def. doesnt have enough money to get another comp..... i had to offer to pay for my own setup on CHRISTMAS DAY.... word, thanks tho..... i got the mxl 990, i was this close to gettin that samson C01u (or w/e it was called) but i really wanted a pre amp for wen i get a newer mic later on

Nah it isn't bad, it just isn't the best you can get. Sides, for $50 it's a good mic with decent quality which is what I needed. So it's all good.

i SERIOUSLY reccomend the Smason Co1u USB mic...its ill...i got it yday and the raw mixdown quality is freakin sick...defo worth the lil amount of money is and the easy non preamp, knobs n mixer type use
