I was just reading reviews of his "Duets" CD. It seems to be getting positive reviews overall. I've heard most of the tracks on there and am satisfied with many of them. I'm like most people when I say I'm disappointed that there isn't "new" Biggie material. The man apparently didn't record that much before he died, unlike Pac. Anyway, I made this thread to reiterate the fact that Biggie was one of the best to ever bless the mic. For his time, 12 years ago now, he was a trailblazer, putting East Coast rap on the map. His flow is sick. His mic presence is commanding. And, the man has metas/wordplay for days. People who disrespect his legacy and say, "Biggie was wack" or "Biggie wasn't all that" are a joke to me. To me, that's like some arrogant kid coming into the NBA and saying, "Pssf, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson ain't do nuffin."...bu DUH!



RESPECT those who came before you.

Yeah, that CD is Dope. The song with Bob Marley in it is sick! But in Biggie's verse he's like when I die fuck it I wanna go to ________ and bleep out hell. lol, I found that weird and they bleeped out when he said he wants to slit his wrist. I guess its just respect for Biggie since he is dead now.

He was decent, far from the greatest of all time.

Biggie in my opinion is overated... Pac is definently not

Ill say that Biggie had real nice lyrics but listening to that mutha fucka rap bout puts me to sleep.

Pac on the other hand at time comes with simple lyrics but brings so much emotion to the mic that it makes up for it. And pac recorded 3 songs a day preparing for his death so thats why his lyrics arnt allways on cue...

with songs like Dear Mama and Brendas got a Baby pac is the realist rapper of all time it was never about money with him he loved to rap. Now a days thats all it is is money. Most of the rappers have forgot what it like to have fun and rap. Now its all buissness. Thats why I miss pac so much in this rap game cause if he was around things would be so much different

They pretty much are. Pun wrote Joe's first two albums, probably some of his 3rd one. The funny thing is on that "New York, New York" song, Joe had a line about "It's almost like I found Pun's rhyme book".

Actually, I don't have to convince anyone of Biggie's greatness. He's left an indelible mark in the game. He was AHEAD of his time and his rhyming was so proficient, few if any emcees have lived up to it. Most rappers say a bunch of words that sound deep. Not so with Biggie...each word is necessary for the bar...If you take out a word, it drastically changes the tone/meaning of the bar...that = lyrical brilliance
