I know Past Tense made this already...but 81 points in one game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KOBE man

yo...

for real though, I've been saying this since 2001

Kobe Bryant will be the "greatest" basketball player when all is said and done.

The man has sick talent.

Who has more raw talent than he has in the game right now?

WHOA!

Aiyo...With Kobe's long game and Shaq's dominance, they should be unstoppable in they get back together. If someone in the NBA is reading this, please put those two back on the same team. Even Phil Jackson, coach for the Laker's, said, "I've never seen anything like this." Remember, he coached MICHAEL JORDAN!

Young_law 01-23-06 07:57 AM

Kobe won't be the greatest ball player when its done, he just happend to shine today, Kobe has had his time, his time is done

well let's see...Michael Jordan has 6 rings...tons of MVPs and a few scoring titles

Kobe already has 3 rings, is heading for MVP this season, and will probably win the scoring title.

Oh, did I mention that he's only 27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^That fact alone makes it possible for him to eclispe Michael Jordan as the greatest of all time. Kobe has the raw talent to do it. And, the talent pool today is greater than it was when MJ was dominant. If Kobe Bryant can mature, which he will, he will be the greatest to ever play the game.

Michael Jordan may be surpassed by him as the best b-ball player, but it'd only be on paper through technicalities and what-not, in people's hearts and minds nobody will surpass Jordan while Jordan is still alive...I don't think it'll happen Mikey...people LOVE Jordan

Young_law 01-23-06 09:47 AM

also, i doubt anyone will EVER have as many shoes named after themselves as him, JORDAN is big as HELL, it used 2 be Forces, Now its "Mikes", "Jordans" or "Jays", he's got his own line of shoes AND clothing, and comes out with a new shoe every week, NOT including his main line (so far 1-21)

Dabatos 01-23-06 11:06 AM

lol yeah kobe may be really good.. but everyone will alawys luv and have more respect for Jordan than Kobe cuz jordan is jst classic =P haha... but yeah.. kobe would easilly own me :(

What does shoes have to do with basketball ability? Stay focused son. Kobe Bryant has more raw talent than Michael Jordan. Point blank...

Kobe is young. If he can hone in on his skills and focus his intensity, he'll be unstoppable.

The man already has 3 rings before his 30s. If they can build a good team around him--remember Pippen for MJ--Kobe can easily win 3-4 more rings.

Don't let your sentimentality get in the way of fact. And, the fact is, Kobe just scored 81 points in one game. Ball hog or not, he STILL had to make those shots. And, where was the defense for the other team?

I go on record right now as to say, Kobe Bryant will surpass MJ as the game's greatest player.

no your completely wrong.....as much as i hated micheal...he will always be the greatest...why? because mike did it without a dominant low post presence...something thats almost impossible.....kobe will never win a title without a big man underneath....hes not good enough.....there are only a handfull in nba history that could ever do it without a big man.........and kobe isnt one of them

Blay'all 01-23-06 11:57 AM

he, or anybody for that matter, will never surpass Jordan...

ksr 01-23-06 12:15 PM

jordan gets respect from everyone....
kobe only gets the ball from everyone :bored:

tell kobe to score like that on the heat

Blay'all 01-23-06 03:20 PM

Jordan would never take 48 shots in one game... look at who Kobe has on his team... Jordan had Scottie, Dennis, Kerr, Kukoc, and all those motherfuckers to share the ball with, and he STILL put up the points, and ALWAYS came through when it counted... he's THE legend...

Tha Q. 01-23-06 03:41 PM

aiight at the Kobe haters...

If you are a fan of bball, you have to know that Jordan is the greatest ever...But, you also have to admit that Kobe has more RAW talent than Jordan...Stop thinkin with your hearts people and think with your heads...

Kobe is only 27 years old...Jordan DID NOT achieve what Kobe achieved at a comparable age...

Stop feelin like someone is dissin Jordan...It's actually good for the game...

Young_law 01-23-06 03:45 PM

doesent matter if he didnt do it at the same age, he still is never going to be as good as, or acheive as much as jordan did

based on what assertion? Facts point otherwise. In fact, it makes more sense to think Kobe will beat Jordan's records than to not believe it. The kid is 27 and already has 3 rings. And, the only reason Jordan is as loved as he is, is because he was ahead of his time. In my opinion, if Jordan peaked in the 21st century, he'd be just another good player in a sea of great players.

Young_law 01-23-06 03:53 PM

based on everything, defense, dunking, speed, Quick thinking, Shooting, Offense, every aspect of the game jordan was raw at it 200% kobe cant live up to that

.Ike. 01-23-06 03:54 PM

i guess everyone ignore the fact that i probably had the most knowledgable post in this whole thread....

kobe with a big man = championship material
kobe without a big man = hell no, he'll never win one without a low post presence

jordan without a big man = 6 championships...

^ thats the difference

Exactly who did Jordan play against that measured up to him?

Now...compare Kobe to the current crop of players in the NBA. The talent pool is way deeper now. Therefore, Kobe's accomplishments, relative to the time, are more impressive compared to Jordan's, IMO. Also, don't even give me that, "Jordan wasn't a ball hog" bit as to why he didn't score 81 points in a game. He scored over 60. That in itself can be considered being selfish. Face it, Kobe is a more talented player than Jordan ever was.

exactly the point, he was so good nobody measured up to him, if everyone who isin the game now, was in the game back then, jordan would have STILL dominated

nope, thats just how raw he was he WASNT a ball hog, he was able to keep the bal around to everyone and STILL score
Face it, Kobe is a more talented player than Jordan ever was.

That as is not a FACT, thats an opinion a Fact is, that KOBE will NEVER be as good as jordan, he'd be lucky to come close

The fact is, Kobe is more accomplished at 27 than Jordan was at the same age.

You all make more excuses as to why Jordan isn't better than Kobe at 27. I can tell you why Kobe is better than Jordan at 27 than Jordan was at 27. Kobe has more TALENT than Michael Jordan.

Again, let me draw parallels to golf.

Jack Nicklaus is considered the greatest golfer to ever play the game because he's won more majors than any other golfer. Tiger just turned 30, but is already on pace to completely obliterate Jack's records. Until then, Tiger is considered a contender (the top contender) for the crown of "history's greatest golfer." However, Tiger is already regarded as a BETTER golfer than Jack Nicklaus ever was. He has more raw talent to play the game than Jack. The same can be said for Kobe and MJ. At 24, Michael Jordan was NO WHERE near ready to win 3 championships like Kobe did. And, if you argue Shaq had something to do with that, then I can argue Shaq didn't win those without Kobe. Need I remind you all of his chamionshipLESS days with the Magic?

Oh...and Need I remind you that he had "Hardaway" as his side kick. MJ once said that Hardaway would be the "next Jordan." Boy was he wrong.

Well...I am not Miss Cleo and certainly don't know the future. But, I present a valid argument as to why there is a possibility that Kobe will break Jordan's records, mainly because he's so young and talented with his entire career ahead of him.

You don't know how much I agree with you.
MJ was more dominant than Kobe though.
But shit 27. He can still keep playing for at least another 10 years.

Abraxas 01-23-06 08:23 PM

I always liked the Lakers but Miami Heat are way better.
although Kobe can easily own D wade. :-(
Shaq and Flash overwelm Kobe.

Incineratedrose 01-23-06 08:26 PM

DWAYNE, such a dope name,.

Cocaine 01-23-06 09:51 PM

im glad to see ike knows what he's talking about, MJ came to the Bulls.. who'd they have?? upon coming to the league, did he have an already established superstar (Shaq) to hold his hand.. Kobe's good.. but Michael took a wack team.. to a savage team.. and also when MJ was 27 he had been in the league for what 5? maybe 6 years? where Kobe's been in the league for 9.. and until the Laker's get another ultimate beast big man.. the lakers wont go anywhere..

High-Dro 01-23-06 09:53 PM

you're right...shaq IS the greatest

Lyriclesolja 01-23-06 09:56 PM

Jordan is the best that ever was and ever will be in B-Ball.....Kobe just has so many sucky players around him that he HAD to score that much to win....but i think that LeBron will be better than Kobe in 10 years i mean look at him he's already one of the best in the league and he's only 19 or sum.....crazy

.Ike. 01-23-06 11:25 PM

and yet again....my valid point is not acknowledged....except by apo...

mj did it without a low post presence....

kobe will never win another ring without a low post presence...it just wont happen

Incineratedrose 01-23-06 11:26 PM

Never, ever, EVER!

Dirty Nigga 01-24-06 07:40 AM

Did yall watch kobe when the lakers beat miami?

shaq was NOTHIN...Kobe stole the show, he aint THE greatesat ofall time, but he got the potential and ability to be one of 'em...fa sho.
