random black history fact : did you know The Famous Bus Boycott of the 1955 era began in Montgomery, Alabama?

Blay'all 02-08-06 03:12 PM

the famous Greensboro sit-ins were held in Greensboro, North Carolina... my hometown :)

and they actually removed the entire booth from the restaurant and its in the Smithsonian in DC.

Tha Q. 02-08-06 03:19 PM

I have a serious issue with black history month. I feel that slapping together a list of "facts" celebrating black achievement shouldn't be relegated to only one month. And, it's the same bull --ish every month. George Washington Carver did alot with the peanut... Lewis Latimar helped design the filament for light bulbs. Hiram Revels was the 1st black senator...Seriously, how many times can you learn these same facts over and over. Black history should be an integral part of American History, not shoved into the shortest month of the year. I say boycott black history month until they give us true recognition and respect.

There's only so much you can learn without it being integrated into American History bro. For the most part, black history month tends to be a celebration of "facts" you can look up year 'round. Evidence? Look at the first "fact" you typed. I mean, does someone need to wait until February to appreciate that? What needs to happen is Black history become as integrated into the History books as the Boston Tea Party and other major events in history. If it were left up to some people, black people wouldn't show up in American History until 1960, you know, the year we all starting "whining" about equal rights.

Fuck black history month. All it does is make being black look like a handicap. THey got black everything. NAACP, Black movie awards, black entertainment telivision, and black history month. And this is different from black fountains and bathrooms... how?

Actually, organizations set up to protect the Civil Rights of minorities such as blacks are necessary. But, I understand where you're going with the "Black Awards" shows, etc. When I attended a 97% white college, there were organizations set up for the few blacks on campus as a safe haven where we could come and share common experiences. Those are necessary. I just don't think the idea of "Black History Month" should carry over into the 21st century.

I bet if you believe there's even a REMOTE chance of blacks losing their right to vote, you should spend more time in those books.

Young_law 02-08-06 03:59 PM

dawg there is, son YOU need to read up on YOUR books

Blay'all 02-08-06 04:00 PM

that would be crazy

You must not get where I'm going. Techinically, there are all sorts of laws on the books. But, they are NEVER enforced and WOULD NEVER hold up in modern courts. You know, there are such laws as: "It is unlawful for a man to wear a hat and walk down the left side of the street." --ish like that...

neway...I don't doubt what you're saying. I'm just telling you that there is ZERO chance of blacks losing their right to vote ANYTIME soon.

Young_law 02-08-06 04:06 PM

those laws arent in tha consitution, this is about our amemndment being invalid, but i c where u cumin frum

Indeph 02-08-06 04:07 PM

the patriot act answers all these problems..

I understand that's in the constitution, the 15th amendment, I believe?

But yea...no chance of him being able to pull that off...Not in this modern day and age...Perhaps 100 years ago...Not now.

Young_law 02-08-06 04:11 PM

unfortunately there is, i mean i know its not gonna happen, but if george bush was secretly a kkk member it would happen

Indeph 02-08-06 04:12 PM

Actually, in the last election 99% of blacks voted Democrat, obviously exposing the iron fist that you guys hold in the polls.

Incineratedrose 02-08-06 06:00 PM

George Bush cant even run again next year, in case you tards forgot, you can only serve two four year terms. Which, hes currently wrapping up his second.

Have you ever heard of the system of checks and balances that goes down in the courts, you fucking homo? Even if George Bush was a KKK member he couldn't just say, "Sorry, blacks are no longer allowed to vote." It doesn't work that way. YOU need to read some more shit, son.

Young_law 02-08-06 06:02 PM

listen dumb ass, the point i was trying to make was that next year, out right to vote runs out, fuckin homo

And now you listen; VOTING RIGHTS DON'T JUST "RUN OUT." What the fuck, you make it sound as if it was a timed thing. "Alright, black people have voted for a couple of elections, let's make them slaves again." THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS. THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S GOING TO WORK. You don't have a point, as you're just talking out of your ass. You obviously have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

Young_law 02-08-06 06:28 PM

listen u fukin piece of shyt, how fukin dumb can you be? if we lose our voting right, that doesent mean we r slaves again shitbag, i do have a point, if you read the fukin constitution carefully, in 2007 our right to vote technically runs out, so unless u recently read the WHOLE FUCKIN CONSTITUTION then you cant tell me shit, cock sucker

Incineratedrose 02-08-06 06:38 PM

Wtf, when the constitution was enstated, or even written, you didnt have voting right AT ALL and you were still slaves, for another good amount of years. So why the shit would they include black voting rights and that they should run out in 2007, when you didnt have voting rights PERIOD at that time.

Nynth Degree 02-08-06 07:26 PM

Black people!? Where!?

will idk i guess it depends on who invented black history month.....i mean if its a white man that created it then i easily see ur point but if its another black person then its ta truly represent black power more like a holiday kinda like how christmas is there ta represent the day jesus christ was born...atleast in my eyes thats how i see it

Magic5 02-08-06 11:26 PM

You're comparing learning about African history to the day that Jesus was born? Lmao. Good analogy.

I've always been curious as to why people encourage Black History Month. It's all just another part of history in general.

Compose 02-10-06 04:39 PM
