They stopped that dumb ass Port Deal Bush was trying to push with the United Arab Emirates. I'm glad. I would rather they err on the side of caution than otherwise.

Technically we don't vote for the President. The Electoral College does. They usually vote with what their state does, but we have no direct effect in the presidential election. If so Gore would have won the 2000 Election. So no not all Americans voted for him. Just the ones in the biggest states.

^^^Werd to that but why do we need the electoral college now? It was made back in the day when 95% of people couldn't read the ballot now that people know how to read give the power to the people

Same reason it was used when it was made. The 'higher ups' didn't want the uneducated having ALL the power when voting for their president. With people today no one researchs the issues and values of their eventual leader. Granted the people seem to sway the EC but the EC can vote how they please. Until the American public show they are intelligent as a whole and don't go withthe 'biggest fad' then we'll have an Electoral College.

now explain again why the uae cant own our ports...when they have no even suspected ties to terrorism...unless you count the fact that theyre arabs...

we dont own our ports anyway...some guy from england does...and its not like if terrorists were really gonna attack us that they would need to own the ports for this...it doesnt make any sense...the biological warfare shit could easily be carried in luggage or shipped freight...or even brought into the british owned ports on boats...the thing im having trouble seeing is how terrorism even factors into the ports at all...drugs are a much bigger port authority problem than terrorism could ever DREAM of being...

Okay...The port deal was crushed almost unanimously by Congress. I don't quite understand how Schema thinks he knows more about the deal than they do. Even Bush's own Republican party doesn't support him here. That should be the red flag. They say there's a risk it'll compromise national security, and I believe them.
