Future of cd's?

Do you think that ipods'll put cd's out of business like cd's did to cassettes? Simple question.

locknes 03-13-06 10:38 PM

No Because If A Rapper Makes A Cd What Are People Going To Buy It On (CD)If I Pod Had Chips Or Something Then Mayb But For Now Cds Still Run The Show

Tha Q. 03-13-06 10:39 PM

I think Ipods will be obselete before CDs will.

Nah, I think CD's will get smaller in size and bigger in storage. To the point where they are as small as iPods.

Crazy Hades 03-13-06 10:48 PM

Or man will continue to waste millions on stupid things like creating IPods when CD and portable DVD players work, just for the sake of luxury, when it can be better spent to contributing to the future of mankind and curing poverty.

That is why I use my friend's IPod and don't by my own.

There's so much wrong with what you just said, I won't even address them all. But, it's kind of hypocritical typing that on a COMPUTER, don't ya think? Technology betters our lives. People often say about cars, "They don't make them like they used to." I say, "THANK GOD THEY DON'T." Things improve as technology makes things once deemed impossible fairly common place. Why use a CD player than can only play 20 songs at the most at one time when I can carry around an Ipod that stores thousands of songs at the touch of a button?

Doesn't add up.

Crazy Hades 03-13-06 10:58 PM

- shoots. - Because I'm hypocritical bruh. Computers are a big step in technology...makes shit easier, and the common man can get access to it. Shit like IPods don't seem necessary to me, buy a CD Player, but not everyone has the money and everything...

word. I'm tired, I don't make sense.

SAme thing can be said about a computer. It goes to what you deem "valuable" or "important." Personally, being able to listen to music is as important to me as being able to get on a computer. Music betters our lives. Man, this can be taken in soooo many different directions.

An Ipod is superior to a CD player. You have to change CDs constantly = inconvenient... An Ipod is more resourceful and practical, IMO. If you don't have a computer, then you don't have a computer.

You don't need a remote control to operate a TV. But, when was the last time you actually got up to adjust the set?

Crazy Hades 03-13-06 11:02 PM

Lemme sleep on it...I guarantee ya you'll have a debate on it just for the sake o' debating if you want to.

Sean Gunner 03-13-06 11:04 PM

$50 for the CD player alone, then $15 per CD and then you have to carry them all around in a $20 case.

$85 minimum, but that doesn't count the batteries.

So ya.

KOOL COL-B 03-13-06 11:09 PM

i bought my discman frum a guy who stole it, so it wuz just $20.

lmao @ rev wif a $20 cd case, i just pick wich cd i wanna listen 2 n thas it. or u can go 2 tha dolla sto n buy a cd case thang fo a buck.

fuck ipods, they take away frum tha sale of cds, n wen i put out cds n shit i want ppl 2 buy tha music. its aight if they buy tha cd n then put it on tha ipod tho. ipods r like $500, if u can afford that u's a rich ass mofucka, werd

iPods are never gonna be obslete, they r just to fucking raw

if anything, cd's are just gonna get smaller, and that=smaller cd players, which is better cuz its more portable, i havent bought a CD in about 2 years because of P2P programs and torrents, i have all my shit on my iPod, and once i get my 60 gig ipod for my birthday, im gonna keep it until they come up with a new one, then im gonna just trade that one in for a discount and get the new one...hmmmmm

*goes to make iPod Thread*

∆ P E X X 03-14-06 12:33 AM

CD = Storage medium
iPod = Storage device that uses a stoarge medium.

So "No".

Abraxas 03-14-06 12:38 AM

They'll make a mini-cd smaller than your thumbnail.

La Cosa Nostra 03-14-06 12:41 AM

Cd's still have life in them... There will be a continous stream of improved versions of cd's. But it will be a long time before they are compleatly antiquated.

I-pods arnt really going to antiquate the cd...

What may antiquate the cd in the near future is the ability to purchase entire cd's online for a cheaper price due to less manufacturing costs. Eventually there will be stations where someone can go to, wirelessly connect with a hand held personal pc and seemlessly download entire cd's right out of a wall unit at an automatic charge.

This technology is already being developed, but it is still in its infancy.

But even this wont fully antiquate the cd... As the cd is a hard copy storage medium. The best hard copy storage medium man kind has in common use currantly..

It wont be going anywhere any time soon.

And remember also that cd's arnt only used for music.

.Judicial. 03-14-06 12:43 AM

I don't think so, atleast not anytime soon, Ipods are probably gonna get to the level MP3 players got to when they first came out...Cd's will be the main source i think tho...

Tha Q. 03-14-06 07:36 AM

How about this idea...

For those who don't own computers in order to use Ipods, build special chips that can hold music. The chips or slot cards could fit in a special player. Then, you can go to a music store and upload singles or entire albums onto your player. It can even be linked to a debit card type system so that you don't even need cash on hand. You can purchase a "music download package" which allows for a certain number of downloads onto your "chip" or slot card.

hmm...iono

Shit man, your not behind are you.....

That technology is already being developed like I said 2 posts before you.

Tha Q. 03-14-06 07:57 AM

^^I didn't read the posts before me. But, I guess it is a good idea though. Now, if only I can think of these ideas YEARS ahead of the next man--cuz I had honestly not heard of it before--I'd make bank.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

La Cosa Nostra 03-14-06 08:06 AM

Well with these type of things its all about having the know how to create the technology. See you could have a great idea, spend half a year figuring out how to do it only to get beaten to the punch by someone who already knew their game and came up with something similar.

Then theres problems like larger companies will develop variations of your product and swamp your market before you even start to rake in the big bucks..

The technology market is not one for the little guys I'm afriad.

.Judicial. 03-14-06 08:10 AM

^^Or we can just sell our ideas to the big companies and just get easy money for just thinking...I'd definately sell my idea knowing I'm going to enter the market and get murdered and end up losing money on production and all that.....

La Cosa Nostra 03-14-06 08:15 AM

You could only do that if it was an extremily origional revolutionary idea......

And even still theres a big chance they'd just find a loophole in your patent and fuck you over all together........

.Judicial. 03-14-06 08:16 AM

^^lol how true....so the saying lives on..Rich is getting Richer The Poor is getting Poor-er

Yea...you def. have to know how to make a prototype of the idea and patent it before someone else does. I've had alotta invention ideas over the years that I've never put to market or attempted to construct.

Here's another one: Metallic Gloves for Doctors and NUrses who work in 3rd world countries...The gloves would be impenetrable to needles but still pliable enough to move like normal latex.

iono...I think if I truly wanted to, I would do whatever I had to, to get a prototype built of whatever Idea I come up with. You ever see those "INVENTION" commercials where they send you an invention kit?

lol

La Cosa Nostra 03-14-06 08:21 AM

Speaking of needles.. There was a new one recently where the needle automatically retracts after the injection is made, thus leaving no sharp points that are harmful to people.

The reason it was such a good idea is that pretty much now everyone is going to be required to use these and regular needles will become a thing of the past...

Its stuff like that that will get you the big bucks.. You jus gotta find a good market, discover a problem and invent a sollution.

Yea...cuz u only use a needle once anyway

Even that will probably be obselete in 20-30 years when they'll use lasers or some other technology to inject you with medicine. I heard something about that already. Gloves will still be needed though to prevent cross-contamination.

Tha Q. 03-14-06 08:26 AM

lol...speaking of other crazy inventions...would anyone ever try the "spray on" condom?

.Judicial. 03-14-06 08:31 AM

spray on condom???how does that work???does it like turn solid on your dick and you have to peel it off afterwards?

La Cosa Nostra 03-14-06 08:32 AM

Sounds messy....

It's probably the same science that allows for "paint on" band-aids.
