Are any of you concerned about hearing damage?

There are countless warnings about earbud style headphones--like the ones that come with Ipods--causing hearing loss. Some of the signs of hearing loss include having to say "huh" or "what" during normal conversations. Also, having to crank the television up often is another sign. Personally, I'm not that concerned because I usually listen to my Ipod for less than 30 minutes at a time, even though it's at a high volume.

CRiSS-CROSS 03-14-06 09:07 PM

yeah.. actually I am.. i never listen to my ipod blastin anymore.. heard a radio thing about a guy going deaf in like 3 years because of ipod earphones loudness.. and consistint listening.

locknes 03-14-06 09:07 PM

i am losing my hearing i listen a hour a day and the high volume isn't enough for me now it sounds mad low

Abraxas 03-14-06 09:07 PM

That's probably me.
Fucking... Ipod Earphones.....

locknes 03-14-06 09:13 PM

It'll also decrease the amount of dates you go on.

locknes 03-14-06 09:20 PM

^true i rather not listen to the bitch talk!

p4ntzistheish 03-14-06 09:26 PM

If the max my mp3 playr can hit is 25. I stay at 10. I like to be aware of my surroundings as well as listen to my songs.

Logic The Goonie 03-14-06 09:32 PM

Anything loud is going to help cause hearing loss, not just earbud headphones. =/

TeamOne 03-14-06 09:35 PM

fuck u say bitch?

Hmm...Let's dismiss research scientists spent years compiling because Socrates says so. Dawg, earbuds are more intense than normal headphones or noise cancelling headphones. The warning is out there. But, don't come in here and make yourself look like an ass, please. The point is, people listen to Ipods and other Mp3s for hours upon end. How often do we listen to other "loud" noises for 4 hours at a time? That's the point of the warning dip shit.

Well, any fuckin loud music is loud. The earphones don't matter. If you take traditional headphones and turn them up just as loud as you do earbuds, you're not making any fuckin difference. If they are louder, then they're louder, but that doesn't mean the other ones can't be equally as bad if you turn them up that high. -_-

Sean Gunner 03-14-06 09:48 PM

Ya my hearing is pretty bad now.

Nynth Degree 03-14-06 09:52 PM

*Doesn't have any earbuds*

TeamOne 03-14-06 09:58 PM

*wonders if soc updated the radio station*

Logic The Goonie 03-14-06 10:00 PM

Yes, yes I did.

Are you retarded? Of course you can turn them down lower.

You know what...I'm not even going to explain this to you because you're an idiot.

That's the damn point. I'm not saying headphones can't worsen your hearing, I know that, i'm saying it's stupid to pretend earbuds are whats causing the problem, when it's ALL loud music, mother, fuckin, period.

i'm worried about going deaf in one ear and having people talk about me on just that side knowin i cant hear em :(

Mentor 03-14-06 11:51 PM

Im VERY concerned about my hearing cuz thats the most crucial thing of my life if i lose my hearing i lose my life simple as that, if i go deaf i cant listen to music and music is my life so i'd kill myself cuz my lifes pretty much over...my right ear was so terribly plugged that it was popped for 3 days and the hospital was the only people who could get it out (no i didnt go to urgent care just cuz of my popped ear, lmao)
but u shoulda seen the blanket i was laying my head on litterally looked like someone had diarehia and took a large creamy shit all over my blanket i had TONS coming out..but thats really wack and yea u can lose your hearing from anything too loud earbuds are just a lil bit more likely cuz there inside of ur ear but if u look more closely anything made ta make noise gives u a warning and another way u can tell if ur losing hearing is if u hear a constant ringing in ur ears even if u cant hear it untill everythings silent but u really cant live a full life without witnessing a lil loss like that

La Cosa Nostra 03-15-06 12:31 AM

Ofcourse I'm worried about hearing damage...

I'm a fricken music artist.. -_-

Hearing is something I cant do without... I get annoyed when I'm in clubs for too long and I come out and find it hard to hear shit... As for headphones, I dont use them too often.. Only when I'm mixing and shit..

Blay'all 03-15-06 02:22 AM

word, as soon as somebody buys me an ipod im gonna use my sony headphones to listen to it...

∆ P E X X 03-15-06 12:58 PM

My hearing has always been sensitive, I'm a REAL light sleeper as a result and all that so I'm highly interested in maintaining my hearing. I'm also probably one of the quietest people you've ever met!

$20 is way too much just for headphones i got mine for $6 at radioshack they dope..not if u wanna hear bass but thats what stereos are for otherwise they my favorite

mind_immortal 03-16-06 03:58 PM

i know when i was in school at fullsail ... there was a place, which i dont remember the name, but they made custom earplugs ... from molds of your ears ... that would cut specific decibels(frequencies) depending on what enviroment you were working... and what you specify...basically they make what you want ...but i would recommend to anyone working in live sound to get at least a 20 dB cut... for the small fee of around 100$ u.s. i am sure you can find a place via the internet that can provide you with more 411...!!! check it out...!!!

mind_immortal 03-16-06 03:59 PM

prozac.. .you must be retarded...

mind_immortal 03-16-06 04:03 PM

the reason for the hearing loss in bud phones is that the high frequencies are not cut at all by anything but your eardrum and they vibrate your ear drum at 10 to 18000 hz. so that means more wear and tear on your ears ... i suggest you turn it down or get different headphones...also adjust the eq.. to cut some of the high end hz.
