I was watching the news this morning and they said that Sydney, Australia has a higher crime rate than New York.

i live in NY but whats good about having a high crime rate =/, NY isnt really like that anymore, yea theres certain spots in each borough that you have to worry about walking through depending on how you act, but all places have that kinda shit just NY is a little rougher i guess...if you look like a hardcore tourist in the poor parts of brooklyn or bronx or uptown manhattan then obviously you might get robbed or somethin but manhattan is probably one of the safest places to be besides the terrorist bullshit, but thats probably cuz theres so many people and nobody would think of shootin someone in front of mad people =/

The reason I said new york is owned is because everyone from new york thinks theyre so badass.

But yeah there is a reason for it.. Its not that new york has more "serious" crimes. Its just australia either locks their crims up for shorter or puts them through the judicial system and they come off scott free.

The government is employing a strategy that consists of building more jails, training more police officers, increasing the effectiveness of the jail's rehabilitation programs, and giving crims stricter punishments.

But its wierd... ive never come across any crime unless it was like underage drinking or smoking dope or something stupid like that.
