okay im throwing this out here

rv is suking majorly as adam pointed out in another thread

i posted some thoughts of mine in the thread

now i beleive that if the mind-core of the site come together we can fix this

thats why im proposing the CRVL (Coalition of RV Leaders)

dont pass me off as a lunatic this is something that could work

it would be a council of mods, established crew leaders, & influential/active members.

just brainstorming i got this so far...

MOD COUNCIL - 9th Ysdat Nosta Mim & Indeph
LEADER COUNCIL - Willa, (TC rep), Mr. Johnston, DV, & Malice
MEMBER COUNCIL - SPuL, Tha Q, The Rev, Crazy Hades, & myself

now the council is by far not well thought out its just some names getting thrown into the mix (im hoping i can get some help on organizing this from Ysdat)

however the purpose would be to figure out how we can fix these problems internally. granted there are things strobe can do to make the site more interesting but we can do this through mods adapting rules and whatnot and if theres something we need strobe to do we can formulate a case to have it changed

I thought this was a thread about battling specifically. Well, here's my spin on things:

#1...At the end of the day, this is still a RAP site. Therefore, if people are actively dropping raps and pieces, there shouldn't be an issue.

#2...There are rules to any forum. Everyone here has probably broken one or another at some point. So, if Mods are going to enforce the rules for one, they need to enforce them for all.Period.

#3...The voting system is ridiculous. I remember dropping a good 5 sentences explaining why I voted for someone. They had the vote removed due to, "insufficient explanation." After that, I vowed to never waste my time ever again.


#4...Like MM and you said in the "ban Q" thread, people need to return to the basics--i.e., RAP. Battles are the way we've always handled things on this site. When I first came to RV in 2004, that's all I did was battle because it was fun. Then, for some reason, people stopped battling and it turned into non-stop bitching, babbling, hating, beef, and bullshit. We are all guilty of one or the other at some point.


I'd be willing to be part of a council if it plans to be civil.





Battling should be a top priority on this site again.

I don't understand what you're trying to propose. You have a "coalition" of people, but they do. . what? Think of ways to make the site better? How many possible ways can the site get better (that a group of like, 10 people can do)? The site lies in people wanting to battle, vote and leave feedback.

Who says "RV sucks"?? The people getting the least from it. I don't see a single audio head complaining that RV sucks. Only texters who are losing out because the interest in text is along the lines of "dead". Audioheads don't see a problem.

I would never do that because anything I don't record, I stow away as "random lines" or thoughts...Most emcees have verses they don't record and just save for future use. And, I agree that the audio forum is very active.

how's that even possible with so many people going audio? Your "solution" that you're looking for so desperately...is to stop people from progressing to audio. That's the only way that text wil be "fun" again.

I'm not trying to shoot you down or nothing, I'm saying that the "problem" you have is the "solution" to another problem. People are gonna gravitate toward audio period, its the core of rap music. People on this site are MORE in touch with rap, not LESS in touch. not much you can do about that.

P.S. maybe your solution is to stop doing text.

Every 2 months we try to have a huge fucking RV revolution because older heads think the site is "dying". After about 3 days it dies out and nobody REALLY cares anymore and shit stays exactly the way it is. The only way we canmake RV better is a consistent individual effort. If you try these fuckin coalitions and the leader falls off because off inactivity or they just don't care anymore, the whole thing dies and we start from square one. If each individual would like, put more effort into giving feedback and voting then maybe, just MAYBE things would catch on. Personally, I'm gunna try and vote on one battle for every 10 posts in LL, and reply to at least one Open Mic a day and 3 songs a week. Why more text then audio? Because that's where most heads start and it's where I started, that's all.

If you stick to your personal plan long enough, you WILL make a difference.

I don't know why everyone trips off of text vs. audio so damn much. They both have their unique styles. Sure, audio heads are better "musicians" but text heads are FAR more witty and creative. I'm not saying either one is better, they both require different skills. If doing audio means you're closer to rap, so what? Doing text means you're a better poet, so in the end, it doesn't REALLY matter.

By default, audio heads would be "greater" because their audio is text, where as a textcee only has text.

Overrall. I think Zig is right. We need to toned down the rules for voting. Just trust the judges decision. If someone wanted to make a bull-shit vote they can and just stretch it over 3 page essay of why you won. When it comes down to voting for battles it all based on opinions and personal liking. Thats why the debate of who is better between Jay and Nas still goes on.

Also The Open mic thread is dead. I have dropped 5 OM's and only one of them gets any feed.(Also while ya'll read this please leave back feed.) I beleive the sites basis is dying. Because I know good and well that you all did not come to this site strictly as audio heads. You all started off as text-heads. So why put out text-heads and all our future text-heads for audio. We should try to put more effort in RV's text community. The only thing it can and will do is make this site better and more active. To have activity on this site instead of a shitload of members on this site we need to have consequences for not batteling, giving feedback, and not dropping material. If we dont have consequences what is going to make people put effort into this coalition.

Another thing is we really got to stop putting down all these other members. I think we should rather give feedback and advice on how they can improve their skills rather than say you suck and walk-out. When I first came to Rapverse I thought this site was mainly for Batteling, Elvating, and getting feedback on your material and it was like this when i first came here but it quickly just became nothing but drop your material and watch it collect dust, bull-shit over topics, have pointless beef. I know at times there is going be where you just not going to like somebody. Thats when you just battle and get it over with. We just need to respect all aspects of rap and music. Audio and text and give both of them there equal share of interest. I know personaly I starting tomorrow Im gonna try voting on 3 text and audio battles, and peep 3 OM's a day. Like who eversaid this crap, the only way we are going to make a difference on this site is threw individual effort.
