To me it's more of an initiation as a rapper. Like getting an NBA contract. Plus I feel like it'll guide me better as an artist. Unless you have some secret that could push me to superstardom and you're being gay and not telling me. :mad:

i dont want 2 b signed @ all...in the UK, signing to a major offers little benefits over signing with an independant. Only MAIN reason that makes alot of uk artists sign to majors is:

distribution.....

A half decent advance to live off for a while and a reason to get a manager...

That's what A&R's are for, or better still A&R companies, like Taxi or Circle of Songs, etc. etc.

A&R's tell you how to become more marketable, what to wear, shape your image etc., and not everyone's looking for that. They assign you one when you get signed, but you don't HAVE to get signed to have one. Far from it.

don't believe what you see and hear these rappers tellin you on TV man lmao, most of the rappers you've heard in your life are piss broke or are in DEBT from their deals. Labels don't GIVE you money. They give you a loan that you have to pay back that all your expenses come out of. Why do you think it's called an "advance"?

wait till you see what happens if you don't meet your sales target, or worse yet, get shelved. better have a great way to come up with the moeny you already spent, cuz the label's definitely gonna want it. and get it.



Only need a distrobution deal for that. They'll get your CD in stores like Sam Goody, Coconuts, and any other music store super-giant.

I rather be on an independent label like Koch than a major one though. Majors rape ur cd sales....The fuck am I gonna do wit 15 cents or less per cd? Sheee... lol Atleast on Koch you have a chance of gettin $8 per cd (depends on deal I guess). But yea, in majors, that shits like unheard of practically.

P.S And if I got famous, for the record, I would buy a fake ass chain. Why? Cuz no one would doubt my credibility, cuz the public would think I'm rich.
