the difference between a mc and a rapper (you d4L cocklovers need to read )
there is a big difference in these i dont consider rap to be part of hip hop beacuse it wasnt there when hip hop began so its not a element
while mcing has been when hip hop started it began with mcing most of yall no this story so im not gonna keep going but anyways like i was sayin ther is a differance between a mc and a rapper which is something alot of you forget FIRST OF ALL A MC CAN BE A RAPPER BUT A RAPPER CAN NEVER BE A MC here is a Good example METHOD MAN = mc +rapper why meth well he knows how to move a crowd like a mc and is a lyricist . he is rapper because he sets trends and people follow him same goes foe eminem tupac biggie nas these people are both next example MC KRS-one he isnt seen as some one who sets trend but he a mc most and formost he is about lyrics never realy cares about what others think he can move the crowd this is a mc as do others Rapper this is some one who was created by the record label hip hop never created a rapper the industry did this is what you have to understand a good example of a rapper is lil john he doesnt write his own lyrics he just cares about selling record has no creativity the also change there style to fit in with what ever is hot this is not hip hop so to some it up rap is not part of hip hop mc is |
u can't create talent
sorry And, ENTERTAINING is a talent... Which is why Missy (though some people disagree) is talented. You might not like her talents, but she's talented. She's entertaining. I have an ability to evoke emotion from people. That = a talent. The names you named are simply talented at what they're talented at, some more than others. That doesn't make them "real" MCs as opposed to others you label as "just rappers" in a disparaging way. Consider this. Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world, PERIOD. He can do EVERYTHING pertaining to gold extraordinarily well. Take someone who doesn't play as well as he does. Does that make him a "real" golfer and the other guy "not a real golfer"? No. It just means Tiger brings something different and extra to the table. The same can be said when comparing D4L and KRS-1. And, believe it or not, not everyone loves or respects Tiger Woods, even though he is the greatest golfer on the planet. 1 |

i wasnt sayin any one was better and consider this Jo lewis is the greatest boxer ever right he step in the ring with a kick boxer the kick boxer kick but jo lewis doesnt is that fair thats the way i look at it what im trying to say is they are to completely differnt thing a rapper and a mc also if you say records sale make you a good mc that is bull shit lets put that in affect THEN mike tyson would be the greatest boxer ever cause he filled up the register but he isnt as skilled as Ali or joe lewis or sugar ray what im trying to say is they are to completely differnt thing a rapper and a mc |
Quote:
Yea...but aren't you implying that an emcee is somehow "greater" than someone who is a rapper? If that's the case, what do you base that on? KRS-1 is an emcee...okay...But, has KRs-1 ever sold out Madison Square Garden? Has KRs-1 even sold 10 million of the same record? I could argue that rappers who did the aforementioned are "greater" for that simple fact. It's what you prioritize. |
Quote:
thats like sayin alex rodriguez is better than babe ruth cause he had 250 million dollar contract so acording to your theory a-rod >than ruth cause money or like sayin mike tyson better than muhhmad ALI cause he sold more seat your theory MIKE TYSON > muhhmad ali cause money shaquille o'neal > karrem abdul jabbar cause money no i dont thnk so |
Quote:
NOPE...If 10 million people buy my album, it's because 10 million people felt me enough to buy it... I'm saying that maybe there was something about TYSON that made people want to see him more than ALI... Again, it's all different... But, referring to D4l lovers as "cocksuckers" then saying D4l are not emcees implies that people you consider "emcees" are greater, which is your prerogative. 1 |
Quote:
see you got the term mc mixed up with rapper they are gimmick rap crew and why are u argueing with me i remember when i sent you the fishscale album you said i like ghostface cause he has no gimmicks he is a real mc i have the post if you dont believe me |
Quote:
I would never say, "he is a real mc"... I said he is REAL/PURE HIP HOP. There were no comparisons drawn between "emcee" and "rapper". That's something you're arguing, not I. 1 |
Quote:
^^Let me clarify. I didn't say that in the context of comparing or contrasting emcee to "rapper"... |
ok then whats this
and where can I DL this album, or some songs? I love Ghostface Killah... He is a real emcee. __________________ |
Quote:
^^Again... emcee/rapper...I use them interchangeably...I wasn't comparing the two. |
yes you find an excuse for everything and for your information ghostface never had beef with biggie
|
Quote:
ur tone isn't necessary bruh... and Ghostface dissed biggie. PS...Ur welcome for the info I gave u in the PM. 1 |
Rap is not part of hip hop?
phew 1 |
wtf u are dumb as hell..who the fuck rofl...
First of all.. there's no one on D4L's dick. I myself think they are whack. so get your facts str8 idiot. second of all. how and the fuck are you going to sit here and decipher the difference between Rapping and Mc'ing. are you really that dumb? I cant even ponder on this shyt its so foul. Mc's are rappers you duck.. Rapping/mc'ing however you want to put it is one of the elements in hip hop . NUFF FUCKING SAID it doesnt have shit to do with talent or lyrics or the impact the artist had in the hip hop community stop trying to look past something thats so simplistic. D4L is hip hop just as well as your hip hop because YOU RAP. your talent means nothing..we arent judging who the fuck is better hip hop and who's not. THats totally different from what i was speaking of.. IM speaking about people saying certain rap artists arent hip hop ..but they only reason for saying that is be cause they think the person lacks lyrical ability. which is stupid....thats just like saying to someone who graffs that they arent hip hop because the shit they tag up is whack..are you serious? come on man.. its not that hard to understand..' |
and by the way. MC means nothing more than master of ceramonies. has nothing to do with talent once again. just because your whack doesnt mean you cant be called an MC/Rapper.. wtf@you thinking there is a difference between rapping and MC'ng..its the same shit...spitting bars to a beat or accapellas depending on preferance
|
Quote:
yep...same thing I said with the analogy of Tiger Woods and the other golfer who just simply isn't as good...They're both golfers, even though Tiger is better. Some people like to make that distinction for some reason though...MC..RAPPER...it's the same thing IMO. |
Quote:
actualy he was showing biggie he notice they actualy met before biggie died nas was the one that blew it out of proportion any ways he made a nice story and if they realy had beef why where big and meth chillen when meth is part f the wu so it was more of a subliminal to notify big that they knew also if you listen to they also talk about people stealing there slang and big bit there slang remember back then it was a big deal if some one cam with a word and you started using it it was considered biting. |
Quote:
That's bullshit wtf you talking about. |
Quote:
yea yea yea...cuz we ALL KNOW that anything that they came up with was NEVER, EVER said or done before in some way shape or form. Unless you absolutely duplicate something verbatim and use it in the same context, it isn't biting. No one has a patent on the english language. |
lmao@what you put in your sig. haha.
THIS is reason why niggas in the industry beef NOW. because they are all so busy trying to strip other artists of being hip hop .when thats just str8 disrespect ...if your going to take part in hip hop firstly u need to understand not everybody is the same and there is different styles out there.just because lyrics are garbage..and it has a catchy tune that you dont like doesnt mean its not hip hop. where do you get off telling another artist. who's doing the same thing your doing they arent hip hop? |
Quote:
im just sayin back then it was a big deal its called jacking peoples slang |
^what makes you more hip hop than D4L?
|
Quote:
that's a good ass question Both are hip hop...I just think D4l's song is annoying as all outdoors. 1 |
Quote:
i respect the art |
Yes it does get annoying . but who is he to say they arent hip hop when he doin the same shit they are..THAT IS if u do audio or songs or whatever :-/. well actually..what is it that you do ? u audio or text? or just post??
|
Quote:
and who said d4L disrespected the art?. and thats still not answering the question. What makes you more hip hop than d4L. |
id say a person who respects the art respects that there are different styles that come to the table. your just sayin they arent hip hop because they are whack. is that really a good enough reason?? do you think thats a really good reason?
|
u know what...Im bout to say FUCK hip hop...Shit is so petty...Why can't people make music and everyone else make their music? Why does there have to be bull shit beef?
Express yourself...And if you can make money while doing it, even better...Last time I checked, there wasn't anything wrong with making money. hatas man I'm bout to turn to opera. Be on some "FIGAROOOOOO FIGAROOOOOo shit. |
This what somebody else said ..had to qoute it..

Glanced through your post.. And guess what..... You are compleatly and utterly wrong. An MC is a term that stands for "Master of Ceremonys". You dont even have to fucking rap to be an MC. Someone who introduces comedians onto stage for a stand up night is an MC.. Someone whos on stage talking before and after speeches at an awards night is an MC... Shit man, even the narrator of a fucking opera is an MC... And yes, you guessed it... No matter how bad YOU think a rapper is. If they have ever been on stage entertaining a crowd before. THEY ARE A FUCKING MC. And furthermore, if they have ever spit lyrics over a beat... THEN THEIR PERFORMING HIP HOP MUSIC.... You my friend........have a lot of learning to do before you go make a complete fuckwhit of yourself again... I recommend untill you actually grow in the brain department, dont make anymore threads..... |
Nos, your examples of who MC's are is what locknes is saying. in hip hop, an MC knows how to connect with the crowd and move em! rappers make crowds dance. big difference! I see what locknes is saying extremely vividly because believe it or not, he's right.
Lock, I feel you man, I'm a product of the original hip hop generation and lived it as it was happening, I know what it's liek to sit on your boom box pumpin out KRS while people break, dresed in their acid wash Jordache's with some pumas and a bomber jacket on. I know what it's like first hand to sit and compare the skills of rakim to big daddy kane and be smiling about the whole thing, that's what I grew up on. Sadly, you're faced with explaining the difference between the original which existed before most of the people you're explaining it to were even alive. Another chunk of that group had no interest in hip hop at all till 'recently' and by 'recently', I mean within the last 10 years and less. Any refferences to the originals is just a look back to history that they can't relate to since they weren't around to experience it. They "imagine" it, they don't "remember" it. now how are you supposed to paint the picture when you're stuck using the terms today which have taken on a whole new meaning? The lines are su blurred now. It's a tough situation for you and the reader. They can't fully relate to you, and the language is so destroyed that you can't explain it to them, it's almost like garbled speech to someoen who's hard of hearing. Neither of which is either of you guys fault. |
Fuck D4L .
|
Quote:
You realise this locknes guy is probably born early to mid 90's... But my point is, what you guys are trying to do is create a subsection of MCing. All it is is a term that is universally recognised as being the label placed on someone who hosts a night of entertainment.. I understand the concept you guys are trying to get accross because I once thought of it like you do.. But then I realised, whats the point? Its a trivial argument thats based compleatly on personal preference. There are people out there who probably really enjoy going to a D4L concert.. And the little weeners from that group, whether real hip hop heads respect them or not, do get up on stage and host a show's worth of entertainment for their teenie bopper fans... They are essentually emcees whether cats like it or not..... |
Quote:
Well didn't you hear about WU-tang member that dissed D4l on stage? |
Quote:
Yes..... It was ghostface.... He called them poppy bullshit rap or something.. .........How is this relevant to my post.. |
Quote:
Cus when that happened D4L lost alot of its popularity. |
Quote:
I see what you're saying, but don't get it mistaken, I'm not trying to seperate anything. they ARE seperate and ou're used to hearing people try to combine these once seperate things. We all know what MC stands for but it's spoken in the context of hip hop. a Matré De is an MC technically, but it the hip hop sense that master of ceremonies takes on a whole different meaning. a meaning that locknes has illustrated correctly. as far sa how I feel about this or that, that's irrelevant completely and dosen't comeinto play. The facts are the facts. How I process them is irrelevant, I'm just here to state facts. btw, the potential age of locknes is a non-issue seeing that he's educated and has a full grasp of the truth. isn't that the point? peace. |
The difference is, what I'm saying is universally recognised..
What you guys (and how I used to think) is esoteric and only understood by hip hop heads.. Which is fine I guess... And cats like KRS-1 have done songs on this type of shit before aswell so hes definatly an authority on the subject.. Just depends on how you look at the term.... And btw-- I mentioned the age thing because this guy most likly is 'imagining' and not 'remembering' as you put it... Thats all..................... |
Quote:
what you're saying is universally recognized? by who? no one I know of who saw it at it's origins accepts what you're saying as truth. that's the new "truth" perpetuated by an industry who's so greedy that they blur the lines of history to put their products on the same level as the puritins. you don't have to buy into that. "Hip Hop or Rap" doesn't make [insert artist here] any less or more than they already are, it just gives you the proper name for their category in music so you don't say something innacurate in the presence of someone who knows the facts. mushing everything together is a dissoving of history and to be honest discrediting one of them to a large degree. as for lock's age, we don't know how old he is. I'm not gonna speculate what he might have or might not have experienced since his knowledge and perspective is that of an 'old head'. he could come out and say he's 14, or 40, it wouldn't change his knowledge, and that's what matters. |
