Anyone here ever done "Slam Poetry"? Because we're having a Slam Poetry contest at school on June 5th. We just saw a video on it today and it's pretty fuckin ill; picture rap, minus worrying about flow, plus being WAY more abstract, plus acting and minus having to rhyme every bar. |

so like, talking? :) werd |
 LMAO Almost. |

You can do whatever kind of poetry you want, I could rap for sure, it's just that this is SUPPOSED to be a different kind of thing (as far as I've seen), it doesn't have to be that way. |
Just pull a Jay-Z..... bite some ill lyrics and just say "Im not a biter im a writer, when I say a big line im only biggin up my brother" replace big with any artist you use.. case solved... |

eh, i like rap more |
at the house of blues they have slam poetry that shit is dope |
rap is better that slam shit is moreless unryming poetry.... |
Slam is dope... If you listen to artists like Alias, Sole, Sixtoo, or Dose One alot of times their tracks are actually more like Slam poetry than traditional rap. I like spoken word better myself, Slam is cool but all the pieces are super agressive. So sometimes if I'm in a mellow mood I'll be more apt to listen to spoken word over Slam. But, Slam is dope none the less. You should sign up. |
