You want to lose weight or gain muscle? Because muscle weighs more than fat.

You want muscle, sign up to your local YMCA, get a protein supplement from your local pharmacy if you want, exercise a different section of your body every day or every other day (abs and legs on one, chest and arms on another, and keep it good and switched up with back and such so you don't have a routine, so your body is confused and can't compensate fast enough to make sure you don't rip those muscles good enough --- you get bigger muscles when you rip down the old ones and the body builds better, bigger muscles that can take more). Check out some workout sites and such as well, perhaps static training would be good for you --- it doesn't work on muscles really, but it works on giving you hellaspeed. It's what Bruce Lee did.

the easiest way you tone your gut up is to believe it or not, walk 1/2 hr or more daily. If you cant' do that daily, try it on the days you work out, skipping the days you don't also help tremendously.

This is because your body burns off the blood sugar in the first 10-15mins of walking (not running or jogging which cause differnet reactions in the body) and sees that you're still doing more work, so it starts to deplete from your stored fat for energy. This also increases your heart rate and your oxygen intake with deep breaths (which raises your body temp) which will jump start your metabolism to start burning fat for you ON TOP OF ALL THAT! And I didn't even mention yet that you'll be burning calories like a furnace in the process!!

Also, drink looooooooooottttttttttttttssssssss of water cause there's no such thing as too much water and cut sodas and ANYTHING "diet" or "reduced fat" out of your meals immediately. It's not the "fat contest" that makes you fat, it's the synthetic chemicals they put in those trats that slow your metabolism down, strain your pancreas and in sodas case damages your liver, so that you CAN'T burn fat the way you naturally would.

Water purifies your body by getting rid of those putrid chemicals that made you lathergic in the first place and helps speed your metabolism back up. So does eating organic foods and fruits. I'd suggest getting your favorite fruit and snack on that in place of chips or candy or liquid candy (soda) any and every time you get the urge to. Go nuts!

Don't forget: unless you're straining your body in order to lose weiggt (aka starving your self) you'll always gain some weight before you start losing it all. Especially whne you start drinking water since your body is so used to not having it it's gonna store it, then after it sees it's abundant it'll stop retaining it and boom, the pounds literally get pissed away.

^^just one of many many ways.

Ya, you want to tone your body or you want to build muscle?

Tha .Q 06-26-06 02:54 PM

3 steps to cut ur belly fat

1. Cut out excess sugar/carbs in ur diet (i.e., lower overall calorie intake)
2. Begin doing cardiovascular exercise 3 days a week for @ least 30 minutes each time (walking, running, step aerobics, Tae bo, etc.)
3. Implement a crunch routine for your abs...4-5 days a week.

If you stay faithful to this routine, your stomach will be hella tight a couple month's time. And, you'll actually begin seeing/feeling results in the first two weeks.

Holla

^word.
forgot to state that that half hour of walking before any excercise you'd normally do will absolutely obliterate excess pounds in no time. You're already burning BODY FAT instead of blood sugar, and the demands of working out will multiply that. You'll be burning pure fat, instead of just working off surface energy.

Just keep your protien high and carb intake up!! DO NOT EVER COMPLETELY CUT CARBS FROM YOUR DIET, THEY BECOME YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL!! and if you respect the ability to focus, to function throughout the day, you don't enjoy feeling light headed and you see the detriments of 'brain fog', then never ever cut carbs completely rom your diet.

Jay Rose 06-26-06 05:29 PM

honestly most all of what everyone said will work the key is keeping up to it....thas the hardest part....do 30 crunches a day, well if you keep up to it your gon see the effects...walk everyday, yep youll see results....run jog, weight train anything, just remember its about keeping it up....just a lil back up to everything i know im completely co-signing on everyones comments but just reminding yall to stick with what you choose to do

oh yea, n dont drink beer.....(my downfall)

∆ P E X X 06-26-06 06:30 PM

you should never work out every day. your body adapts to physical demands put on it so it builds muscle outside the gym, not in it.

working out anything every day = overtraining, and doing an extreme few reps = not training at all. gotta make them muscles work son! then give em time to relax, then work em again, and so on. be built in no time.

Terumoto 06-26-06 07:34 PM

Apexx is right...

For losing weight, believe it or not walking is the best. Your body has three energy systems, one is APT/PT (maybe PC?), one is the anaerobic system and the last one is the aerobic system. Don't worry about the first one, you just need to worry about the other two.

Anaerobic - Alactaic acid system, which is the one that causes lactic acid to build up in your muscles. This one is used when training at maybe 60% or higher intensity. Doesn't help with losing weight.

Aerobic - This is the energy system that burns fats and proeteins for energy. If you have any fat, it will take that first (which we all obviously do), and only in extreme cases does it break down muscle for energy. This system is used probably around 20-40% intensity... And walking at a steady pace gets you right in the zone.

Thats it for losing weight.. also eat right and all that shit thats already been said.

------------------------------

As for getting toned... Do you want big muscle or functional muscle? If you dont need to be doing a lot of stuff that requires quick movements and power rather than strength, you'll want to just build muscle quickly. So eat a lot of meat, eggs, etc.. anything with protein.. get yourself some protein supplement (whey protein is good) and have that. Get into the gym doing low reps and high weight... But make sure you're doing enough work for the protein you take in, cos if you dont it'll just turn into useless fat.

If you want functional muscle, then I suggest staying out of the weights room altogether and keeping away from protein supplements. I doubt you would want this though.. The majority of people are just after muscle mass. If you do want to go this way, just let me know and ill explain it better.

∆ P E X X 06-26-06 07:58 PM

^^well said.

To keep that protein usage at it's peak, it's suggested that you eat meals high in protien AFTER you work out. Your muscles become the #1 priority on the "protien request list" so it gets used to its fullest. Consuming the same amount of protien before working out results in less muscle absorbption.

oh yeah also, your muscles eract at their peak when you're using weights heavy enough to ONLY do a max of 10 to 12 reps the first set, then 8, then 6, then 4. if you can do more than 12 reps with that weight, you're not working the muscle.

word to the muscles.

Golden shellz 06-26-06 08:42 PM

Good...

Diet, not eatin a lot of shit that wont do anything. Eat less fatty foods and more healthy foods. Work out as often as you can. if possible hit the gym, all the tools are there. Dont get lazy when it comes to working out too. Finish reps, dont slack off.

i'm not going to consume crack or any other drug just to cut a few pounds and make my body look leaner....the hell are yall thinking............

Anomalous 06-27-06 12:24 PM

Run every morning for about 10-15 min, crunches you should do 3 sets of 10 crunches with about a 10 sec rest inbetween (after a week or so, increase it to 3 sets of 12 crunches etc etc) do some jump roping such as 2 minutes of straight jump roping...repeat 6 times

for eating...if you drink soda a lot, then if you stop for just 1 week, you might feel the difference. lots of water instead, drink juice, eat all your green vegetables, even spinach but i hate brussel sprouts everything else is great.

just dont go on any Special K diets lmao

this link has a lot of home workout tips and articles for you to read if you cant get a chance to go to the gym...

No doubt bruh...it's all bio chemistry...Th e body is an engine...and is quite predictable

In general, the body needs 15 calories per pound to maintain current body weight. So, in order to gain weight, you go above that amount. To lose weight, eat under that amount.

Once you understand how the body works, you can control your weight at will.

It's really all science.

E.g. Someone who weighs 100 lbs should eat 1500 calories a day to stay at 100 lbs, barring any excessive exercise.

Just multiply. If they wanted to lose weight, they could cut their daily caloric intake to 1000 calories...Get it?

If you want advice on fat reducing foods, holler at me. Bro, I've been doing this and studying this for years. I've gotten it down to a science.

Abraxas 06-28-06 10:46 AM

run 10 laps every other day...
do intervals...
eat veggies NO CARBONATED drinks...
NO fries or sweets.
DO crunches..
About 300 of them every other day.

MC Venom 06-28-06 11:05 AM

I would say low fat foods and going for jogs an hour a day. =P

Terumoto 06-28-06 11:26 AM

Keep in mind that taking in less calories does not necessarily mean taking in less food... It means taking in BETTER food. Sometimes people need to eat more food than they usually do to lose weight.

Shear Kaughn 06-28-06 11:28 AM

yea..i'm starting right now, i'm only gonna drink juices and water, none of that carbonated caffiene crap............

That's a great start. be mindful that most juices are high in sugars. look to see what percent of real fruit juice it is or if it's "all natural" yet.."made from concentrate" which is contrdictory.

if they fuck with it, you shouldn't.

What's more interesting to me is why blacks and other minorities have higher rates of hypertension and other chronic illnesses.

Even more intriguing to me is why bad food costs less than healthy food, especially in impoverished areas.
