ummm...tell me why I didn't register with www.sweetwater.com and have everyone I referred to them use me as a referral. I'd have so much commission right now, I could probably buy something sweet from them.

I got my Samson in late October 05.

Since then, about 20 people from RV have gotten the Samson C01u.

i got the MXL 990 and i bought it for $50, christmas special...and i got some nice ass quality...not to boast..but yea....its not just the mic........its your soundcard and your recordign environment......

but this samson, i have listeend to the people with it..and their quality is incredible...i'm still amazed on how a usb based mic with no stand alone phantom power has such nice quality

Nah...I recommended the mic to at least 75% of the people on RV who bought it from sweetwater duke...

I know they have a referral program...I shudda thought of it...

C01U is pretty nice and clean but sometimes I wish I got something that didn't raise my pitch ._. wonder what HT uses...

thats abit over hyped.. its ok for what it is, but as far as condenser mics in general go its not that great.

definately, ive NEVER EVER EVER been in a real recording studio that doesnt use an AKG mic.

i havent got an AKG mic, but im looking to get one soon when i upgrade my equipment(again)

ive heard neumans are good, but ive never heard anybody go against AKG mic's.(im talking mainly about the high end price ones)

i'm pickin up a AKG 3000 C soon....................i dont know when..plus i think i am gonna get a m-audio interface......and i'm building a small lil booth

i like my co1u.. it'll do me for droppin mixtape round my ends init.. go in the studio for proper tracks..

but the co1u is deffo worth the money

E.C, you need to tweak your ears better, trust me, im partially deaf, and still have a good ear for music and even i can hear that the mic isnt up to what people claim it is.

yea but think... quality depends on people mixing.. i cant mix for shit n my tracks don't sound tooooo bad levels are off n all that. but for £70 i think its worth it...

or... you can get a condenser mic, say £120 then u need the lead, £8-£10 then u need phanton power £25- £££ call that £155...

to kids thats alot of money init.. but it'll b ill quality

money wise samson all the waaayy.

Put it this way. a mic like the c01 makes it HARDER for someone who's nice with mixing to get sweet sound out of the vocals.

cheap mics have lower ceilings. put it that way.

if you puttin out CD's then trust me, it takes more than that... my setup is very basic, but quality is good and my mic is decent enough for producers to work with effectively, i havent found one yet that says they like working with the samson.

for the price its one of the best condensors out.


Just so you guys know, quality does not depend on your mic. trust me. i know.


it took me a year to figure this out. it doesent matter if you record with a fuckin MXL 990 (an OK mic), or a fucking $5,000 neuman mic - it depends on your equipment. I.E. Preamp is VERY important to bring out the character of the mic.


Mixing can make ANY mic sound listenable. REAL mixing and mastering at least.


is probably not the best mic in its price range, but its not supposed to be, its supposed to be the best USB mic. which it is. BLUE has one thats pretty dope also, never heard it tho.


and for you guys who dont know to much about setups. the samson is for PORTABLE projects. such as people with laptops who record in many different places. its not meant to be a replacement in your home studio/studio setup.

but as far as the c01u, im getting the c03u for my laptop. so i can record anywher ei need to (going ot college and gotta leave home setup at home lmao.)


yea the differencfe in the C03u and the c01u is that the c03u has a -10db switch (because the mic records hella loud)
and a Bass Rolloff ( for the mic rumbles and shit. makes it so they arent recorded as noticebly)
