Welcome To The Machine

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
Where have you been?
It's alright we know where you've been.
You've been in the pipeline, filling in time,
Provided with toys and 'Scouting for Boys'.
You bought a guitar to punish your ma,
And you didn't like school, and you
know you're nobody's fool,
So welcome to the machine.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
What did you dream?
It's alright we told you what to dream.
You dreamed of a big star,
He played a mean guitar,
He always ate in the Steak Bar.
He loved to drive in his Jaguar.
So welcome to the Machine.

Dark Side of the Moon owns [/blows dust off CD]

Adam 07-21-06 10:52 PM

^ Defo a good cd, but that is a song off the cd "Wish You Were Here"

Anyways, I haven't been on RapVerse lately because I found a group of guys who love music the way I do and we're bringing back the Pink Floyd sound (hopefully). I have dusted off my drums and converted my hip hop lyrics to rock lyrics and it's been sweet, I'll give you the soundclick when we're done some tunes, right now still practicing. But I think I'll do Hip Hop as a side project, fuck I love music.

Kirk 07-21-06 10:54 PM

Damn, Red. I'll drum battle you, whore.

Adam 07-21-06 10:55 PM

^ Hahahaha, that'd be ill. Still picking out the new set, my old drums sound like garbage cans molded together.

Kirk 07-21-06 10:56 PM

I know cats who's sets look like it too. Lol.

Adam 07-21-06 11:00 PM

I just don't know which kind to get, so many to choose from nowadays eh?

Tama always been nice.

Kirk 07-21-06 11:02 PM

I'd go Mapex or Gretschs. Me and some friends are doin' some music, sounds like Zeppelin.

Adam 07-21-06 11:20 PM

That's dope man, I love the Zeppelin sound. RIP John Bonham.

Kirk 07-22-06 01:52 AM

True that to the core.

You gonna be recording in analog like floyd too? takes more than watery guitars and ambient drums to get that sound.

there's a reason 70's (and 30's) music is so timeless. And it's analog.

and IMO Dark Side was the pinnacle for floyd, hate to say it, but The Wall sucked.

The Wall didn't suck for what it's purpose was. Darkside was a great album for sure but it was defo not their best. "Animals" and "Wish You Were Here" are probably their two best, and when they reunited in 94 to make "The Division Bell" that came out fuckin' awesome too.

The Wall is probably my least favourite album, but for what it was made for, it was pretty dope.

∆ P E X X 07-22-06 06:20 AM

^yeah understandable, the wall was one hell of a 'wake up' album for a generation finally feeling the hangover for their actions, but man, the album felt so just..flat. especially for Floyd.

The other albums had some nice melodies imo (though i havent' heard them all), but none with the paralells of Darkside - noninclusive of the whole Wizard of Oz synchronizations. Did you know that every single song, every single lyric - even the order and the transitions of the songs on Dark Side can all be interpreted 3 ways? Did you know that entire album from start to finish is an intricately woven metaphor? The organic elements on that album??? wow. Think of the genius that it takes to orchestrate all that - and to somehow fit it all into sound and song format is sheer brilliance.

Dark Side was a snap shot in time of such a rare harmonic balance of so many elements and of a unified group all aligned at just the right moment in social-time that there will never be another album like Dark Side of the Moon

Adam 07-23-06 09:08 PM

^ I totally agree.

That also explains why it holds the record for longest album in the Billboard Charts.

∆ P E X X 07-24-06 03:00 PM

^is that so? wow, never knew that, but yeah lol I guess that'd explain it.

You ever listened to Kid A?

Adam 07-25-06 12:44 AM

On the Billboard 200 Darkside Of The Moon spent a record total of 741 consecutive weeks (over 14 years) from 1973-1988.

And yeah, Radiohead is dope man.

∆ P E X X 07-25-06 03:35 AM

Wow on the Billboard charts every day for 14 years!!?? daaaaauuuuyymm

yo man, RH blew my mind man. i saw a medley they did once when Kid A dropped and to see them switch up sets for their sound board was like damn, you just don't see groups getting that deep into the sound like that anymore. I like their accoustic stuff but damn i flat out love their digital stuff. It's like, theyre not doing the usual thing, you know, digital imitating analog. they're using sounds and creating tones just taking digital to places only digital could go!

who else is doin that??? Soundgarden?? at the closest lol
