the courts forced me to pay a donation to a non profit organisation of my choice. Theres a church 50 metres from me, so i payed a 200 doller donation to it.

Im still broke.

Yeah but he blesses those who give willing remember the rich who gave heaps of there money too the church too "show off" and then the lady who gave all she had and had faith was truelly blessed...so just beacuse he does it doesn't mean that he will

Theres a few contradicting takes on this given in the bible..

1. What Q has been saying, give a % of your income to the church and you'll be blessed.
2. Give all you have, and thats better than giving what you can spare. (Wealthy guy vs poor lady story)
3. Money and worldly things are not important, and should not be of concern. The bible says that God will look after you, and you dont have to worry about anything. (Matthew 6)

So wtf. It looks as though some of these are those parts of the bible that have definitely been tampered with.

You would think someone would be uneasy when after all of the spiritual advancement talk someone says "ok we're passing around the collection plate give generously god will appreciate it".

Or you could actually give to the poor, like a struggling mother who you know will spend it earnestly and not waste it away on booze. Would God be happy that you gave money to the church, which is only a medium in which you can pray, where you can pray and worship in other places, or if you gave financial stability to God's other children?

It's the prospect of giving it to the church therefore allowing them to help more people. :bored:

Or like the prospect of giving directly to the poor people instead of allowing a potentially greedy church to spend it on more unnecessary candelabrum so they can preach to God while the church still retains that wonderful holy smell of incense and moted light. :bored:

^ churches do need money in order to run, thats a fact...

but when you're talking about this shit you see on TV, yeah those are scams... the collection plate at church isnt tho lol, nobody (at least at my church) pretends that thats going to God, we know we gotta pay the light bill, electricity, pastor, ect...

Yeah they need money to run.. Thats why they bloody tell everyone in their ancient jewish texts to give them 10% of their income or god wont be happy!.

Back in the day those fuckers provided a service for things like time keeping and notification of upcomming celebration dates and ringing of bells to note certain times during a day. Community funding was justified back then..

Now they do jack shit for us aside from leading the weak minded around on a wild goose chase full of fairy tales nobody can prove and adaptations of older folk tales and philosophies which they lie and claim to be their own.

Even genesis doesent belong to the bible... You can credit that one to jewish slaves working for the ancient sumerian civilisation adapting their creation stories into their own language.

look, with the money thats in the collection plate at my church we can barely handle paying the church's bills and paying our pastor a salary... i know this because we have a treasurer and i attend the vestry meetings, nothings hidden, and nobody says that giving money to the church is going to get them into heaven, lol...

you can keep talking about these consipracies in the church that you think are true all you want, but i'm speaking from what i know, my church... and nothing you've said in this thread applies to us. i dont believe that giving money to my church is going to get me into heaven, i believe its going to keep me warm on a cold Sunday morning in December. the end.

Do you know the difference between tithing and collection plates? Because last time I checked, a dollar in the collection plate isn't 10% of your finances.

A lot of christians obviously dont share that opinion..

Oh yes, because you know, being in God's grace after following the Scriptures which most people don't (though it probably was added by the Roman Catholics so they can get money), you so totally are not going into heaven.

Well I think the intended connotation of Q's thread was that he is mored blessed than others because he tithes in addition to being a good Christian.
