congratulate me haters, as of today Blayboy is officially signed to Phokis Records out of Raleigh, NC... and yes, i've been doing audio for less than a year.... but its called marketing. think about it, everybody has myspace, right? as dumb as it may sound to some of you, i pushed my page so hard to people until i was averaging more downloads a day than most people get in a year on soundclick... and thats how this record label originally got in contact with me was on myspace... so call me a fool, but it worked. and now i'm signed to a REAL record label, not an e-clique lol, so you'll be seein some albums from the kid soon...

Not live, just to visit. I don't know, possibly Chapel Hill to check out UNC while the students are away. She wants to go to the outer banks, so we will pass Raleigh on the way, but I don't know if that will happen this summer.

but, its basically more like a team than a label... there are only like 4 (5 now) active artists signed to Phokis Records, and they got their own recording studio, but the thing is because its all artists (the leading artist owns the label/studio) they arent trying to make profit for the label at this point... artists keep 100% of the sales they make off of albums, and we get free time in the studio of course to put those albums out...

Have they got good distro deals?

Are their artists actually raking in much?

How many albums do they want you to make?

Obviously if their not taking any percentage of the profits, what they do for you is going to be extremily limited and any promo will obviously come out of your budget..

So as it would turn out, you may actually never make a cent from these guys... Let alone actually get anywhere...

Like I said, I'm happy for you.. But I'm concearned you might get caught out on a bit of a dodgy scam that wont do you any good....

I was just wondering have you heard of them because they're supposed to be pretty big in that area.

The music industry is sheisty... And to be honest, this label youve 'signed' to doesent seem to be all that crash hot from what I can gather..

Seems like a real backyard unprofessional "lets take a stab at this" type of set up.. I dont mean to be rude or nothing, I just know cats get hungry for this too much and leave themselves vunerable to being fucked around by some people who have absolutly no idea what their doing....

but thats not even whats important to me right now, this is more like being a member of a team thats trying to come up too, so i have some backing, which is what i need...

If their not complete amatures, then their basically gonna use blay's cd sales to fund everything they wanna do.. Which means at the end of the day, blay will be making the music, but getting absolutly nothing back for it... He could also very likly end up in debt if these guys have to over-spend on the budget if his sales dont do too well...

It really just depends how pro these guys are...

If their just backyard idiots who have 'dreams' of starting a label.. Then their most likly just gonna end up screwing around and not get anywhere...
