The HYPOCRISY that is...Hip Hop
On more than one occasion, I've heard rappers say, "Hip hop is all about venting and going against the establishment." At least, that's part of the history of hip hop. But, if that's the case, why hasn't there ever been a successful, openly gay rapper? There's still persecution towards homosexuality. So, why isn't there anyone holding up the banner for equal rights for gays in rap? If rap is all about venting and expression, then have all the artists in history been heterosexual?
Hip Hop is hypocritical in that sense. |
Evidently they have
stfu with your faggot ass gay rights shit man damn |
Quote:
Why don't you STFU with your ignorant bigoted bullshit. damn |
"Hip hop is all about venting and going against the establishment."
where the fuck has any rapper ever said that. looks liek you're back to making up shit again |
Quote:
Basically and there sprobly been a gay underground rapper somewhere but being gay isnt marketable, of course there isnt any openly gay rappers out |
TQ is openly gay.
|
Quote:
TQ is gay??????????? Whos TQ |
Quote:
the person who made this thread, dumb ass nigga smh |
ur gay???? lol.
|
Quote:
umm, to Fakepexx...Dude from Run DMC just said it on VH1...He said, "The beastie boys represented what Hip hop and Rock are all about, raging against the establishment." ^^^So, there's one...STFU. #2...I know being "openly gay" isn't marketable because of people's biases and fears. But, my point is, if rap is about venting and expression, then why in the 25+ years of rappers hasn't there been one to actually talk about being gay. Again, am I to conclude that in 25 years, there's never been ONE GAY RAPPER? Niet. |
its not impossible
stop tryina make the whole world gay, Q |
Quote:
Didnt know you were gay But the population of gays, are most of them into hip hop So deeply that they would consider rapping? I meanw hen you think gay people, you dont think people into rap for the most part I mean I dont know shit about gay people I might be assuming something untrue. But I dont think theres so many gay people in the group of people that decide they wanna rap that its really suprising. ex. your the first openly gay person i seen on a rap board. Especially rapping In my school there is about 3 gay guys and I dont think they like rap |
like ive said before......a gay rapper wont sell.............thats why
|
Quote:

Quote:

lol...Crack will set you back.
Amazing...there have been rap songs about: Sexism Classism Racism Yet, none about homophobia and bigotry... Case closed. |
Quote:
he can do whatever I just beta him in a battle after he talked so much shit  |
Quote:
Ice Cube has said it, Sticman from dead prez mentioned it, 50 has said it, Slug has said it, Sage Francis probably did (lol), so yeah, plenty of rappers homie. Quote:
That kind of attitude is why armchair intellectuals and politicians hate hip hop and its population. Quote:
He isnt tryin to make the world gay, he's just pointing out how there are still hypocrisies in hip hop culture with regards to general culture and lifestyle. Quote:
They could, it just depends how liberal the audience is, if its todays casual listener, then yes. But its possible a gay rapper could sell, as long as he's dope and creative, the gay part just adds to the publicity. |
a lesbian female rapper would sell LOTS but nobody likes ta see a gay guy
its just plain out nasty and wrong...no offense Q nuthin against u as a person but im a homophobe and glad of it |
Quote:
That kind of close minded thinking is analogous to that of your rock/punk/metal listener who wont listen to or associate with rappers because they represent the ills of society. Drugs, bitches, money, gangs, etc. If hip hop cant accept a guy because he's different in his sexual preference then hip hop is being hypocritical in trying to advocate "freedom" of expression and right to aesthetic pursuit without having people point fingers in bigotry. We might as well kneel, look up and shout "Sieg Heil" if we make leeway for cultural double standards. |
Quote:
Its funny how some1 that has more talent can be beaten so easy By Some1 of even greater skill...It's scary how hard I pratice until I'm up par with the RV to Powers... |
Quote:
oh excuse me I thought most armchair intellectuals and politicians hated hip hop because it resides with the african american lifestyle and culture. Oh, and politicians are WORST then rappers, lmao, if you havent noticed ever politican that has came out gay, RESIGNED! if a rapper came out gay, do you think he would stop rappin? I dont think so lets still be thankful that we havent came across a gay rapper yet |
Quote:
It happens all the time yeah, some niggas may be aiigh, but someone thats better can beat them with no problem how is that funny? |
Nope wrong, if you actually listen to politicians or journalists and dont believe everything you hear about them, they dislike hip hop because of what it stands for (urban violence, money, drugs, sex, etc), lastly the african american lifestyle thing is just a makeshift afrocentric people come up with to assert themselves as victims and "products" of their environment.
|
Quote:
wow, u speak truth 1 |
basically when rappers get fame, they dont go against the establishment...so, maybe if a gay rapper became famous he would stop going against the establishment....and become straight???
|
Quote:
Oh, so I assume you listen to journalists and politicians Or is that most influential ploticians are waht, in their damn upper 40's or higher? and they're WHITE!? Fuck politicians, what older white person likes rap, period!? |
All Im saying is, if you expect white collar people to think good of hip hop why not just make an example? Why do we have to portray negativity and the mundane? If you want hip hop to become a cultural movement you have to start with a positive outlook and an analysis of the real problems of society and not just whine mindlessly in rhymed verses. The only way you can expect hip hop to grow is to provide all kinds of people, with no discrimination in heart, the opportunity to experience the wonderful thing that is hip hop.
To stop going against the establishment is just conforming to the establishment, because if you, the african american preacher of political distress towards minorities discriminates against a specific type of people, you're just setting yourselves up for more of the same. |
^^^Exactly...sorta like blacks being racist against other blacks
shit is redundant and ridiculous wow male...ur rockin right now lol |
It was like that with white folks getting into hip hop, I remember a couple years ago there was a slight angst against white rappers, dont you? But when you have creative MC's and exemplars like Eminem leading the way it changes peoples perspective on it, so now its rare that we witness that kinda thing with white MC's.
|
Just do it Elton John style..
Made a shit load of dope albums, then said he was gay after. I mean he lost a lot of fans, but he made it in the industry. |
Gotcha...I hope one day there will be a gay rapper who doesn't fit the "stereotypes" of being gay. It'll be nice to see just to show that being gay isn't a handicap. They/we are regular people.

Yeah, dont let these net kids keep you from doing your thing, if you wanna make it big Q, gay or not, stomp on niggas and keep walking.
|
Quote:
well that's pretty ironic seeing that the first hip hop song ever had absolutely nothing to do with raging against the government. not to mention hip hop is an expressionary form, so how could it be "all about "anything? thats like saying painting is "all about rainbows and smiley faces". |
If this is the case then neither should hip hop dictate a person's ability or style because of their orientation.
