When RV Rappers Take It Too Far... *smh*

When I seen that SPuL & Tizz started their own record label, I stopped for a second to think about things.

Why do RV rappers think they have a shot in the industry?

Seriously. Do you people not realize that you're now trying to make it in a hip-hop industry where sales are falling off?

Do you not realize that none of you have the skills/commerical appeal for any REAL label to consider signing yoU?

Do you not realize that once your away from your friends & RV d/r, you're not anything special to anyone?

I'm trying to see what the advantage is to doing something like this, because honestly, I'm not seeing it. Unless you have a good local support (which you're too spread out across the country to really have) then this little label project is going to cost you more money than you'll make out of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone on here isn't talented or anything, but in all reality we have to accept the fact that right now, no one on here is at that level.

No beef, I'm just trying to see where people like you all & OYD are getting with this stuff. SPuL, we cool in all, but when I told you I thought this was a bad idea, this is the kind of stuff I think you weren't taking into condiseration. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but this is a message to everyone, not just calling you out.

So yea. This is my thought.

*waits to catch heat for this one*

lmao you my friend are an idiot. goodnight

La Cosa Nostra 01-09-07 02:44 AM

I agree...

I just dont give enough of a fuck to make the statement myself....

Terumoto 01-09-07 02:50 AM

Look, man, comments like that really aren't appreciated. How could you possibly know what RV and its members go through, or how passionate they are about music? If there is a will, there is a way, and as long as they have the determination and strength required of them to be successful, I am confident that they'll make it in the end. You can't just judge people you don't even know, you don't know how much potential these beautiful people have. lmao, nah I'm just fucking with you, RV members have no future. ahahaha

Logic The Goonie 01-09-07 03:11 AM

LMFAO @ Teru.

^^^
dont u normally sit on a horse when u ride it? that seemed unessisary

Wordz AhGod 01-09-07 03:55 AM

unessisary huh. you just sounded the fuck out that word didn't you BP...lmfao...Unnecessary is what you ment to say.

But as to VP said...he's right to an extent...the part I would say he is wrong at is

1) There are people like JMT, Diabolic, Immortal Tech ect. that are making money and making moves and have a nation wide fanbase wider then just the computer and they are not pop friendly at all...they just have talent and the means to get off thier assess to do some shit with they time rather then work at burgerking or sell drungs for they're paperwork you know.

2) Money is not always the major consern when your making music for everyone...usually after you start making moves locally then nationaly the money follows with out you knowing it or some shit. Your almost always gaurantee to find people who share the same thoughts and feeling as you but they cant put it into words or an art as well as you,me, we can do so they buy the album to feel understood or to hear something out of the mainstream and endless gwen steffane replays on the radio that make you want to slap yourself to death.

Not the parts in which you have a point to me is...

1) You're looking at it from a mainstream point of view in which you yourself or people you know might not want to buy any of the shit you hear on this site. You cannot please everyone but the ones that you do will be pleased and loyal so long as you stay loyal to them by giving them what got them to buy your shit in the first place.

2) Money is coming in rapedly through mainstream shit and stuff that can be played at a club because let face it...who can dance nice and slow with a bitch at a hotspot night club to canibus's new track???no one and that will cost you a lot of money as far as people wanting to get your music out there and forget radio play because they minimised violence shit unless it has a mainstream flow...no killing or raping on the radio....so basically a lot of you would have to dumb your shit down a lot or a bit to get this done and a lot of us are too stubborn and hard headed to do this so we are back to squar one....

just my opinion and say so on this matter you know.

M&rk 01-09-07 04:09 AM

werd, i didn't wanna have to open up word to spell it right... and werd to that ish u said there, he's lookin at it from a gay point of view because...(have u seen the kid?)... he's gay

JTR 01-09-07 04:10 AM

It'll take 20 grand to start a label, 10 if you got connections. Then you need connection in the music world to make it big after that, or A LOT of luck, otherwise it won't work. Especially if none of the rappers you have signed are doing actual albums and selling copies out and adverstising and got marketers helping them. I'm talking prefesional made albums, done in a real studio, wich costs even more money, with real beats, wich costs even more money. Not just soundclick beats and recording from your basemant.

M&rk 01-09-07 04:16 AM

that knowledge is from personal experience?

JTR 01-09-07 04:21 AM

Well, dude, you don't need any experience to know you're not going far doing albums in your basemant with soundclick beats while you "record label" isn't marketing you...

JTR 01-09-07 04:23 AM

And ya, I'm around the music business, I know a thing or two

^ 20 grand is way high (at least in the states) for getting a label licensed. unless you mean the fees to actually run the label (if you're actually doing shit) after getting it licensed, i got a connect to a dude i know in Raleigh that could get our label done for 200 flat. legal & corporate licensing papers, everything.

even 200 seems high, if i wasn't in school and was depending on rap for a career... i'd just make my own cd's and sell'em locally untill i get respect and a few dollars to push for a bigger market

Tha .Q 01-09-07 05:14 AM

IDIOT.

THis is PROJECTION at its best.

Uhmmm, I didnt mean it like that. I have experience, not in rap scene, but for other music, most my familly in the music business. Anyways, I just meant i wouldn't need experience to know you're not gonna do much with soundclick beats and a mic at home that's all... You wanna be a profesional, act like one

To Blay, im in Canada. And ya with fee's and all that, and no connections, it's gonna cost you money to get a record label going.

villagepimp 01-09-07 05:51 AM

Q... I'm an idiot? You have sex with men. No further comments.

But if any of you kids end up on my TV screen someday, I will be proven wrong. In fact, if any of you release an album on a half-way accredited label, then I will stand corrected.

SPuL, we cool, but this isn't just about you, this is about everyone here. I think it's about time we all had a reality check here. If your not in it for the money, that's cool man, but if you're trying to rake in cash doing this, dude, you got one hell of an uphill battle.

WhoAmI 01-09-07 05:56 AM

^^on a hlaf way accredited label? man you fulla shit think about it everyone has to start somewere...you don't have to be signed on a rape deal to a huge record label to leave you....hold on why would i care what some random dude across the atlantic thinks?

I'm gay because I'm a heterosexual male who has a female companion and have an opion that you don't want to agree with?

Okay.

Find yourself a puddle to play in kid.

Start somewhere, then move up. I'm not saying right now... 5-10 years down the road, if anyone here drops on an half-way accredited label, then I will be proven wrong. I apologize that you lack the critical thinking ability to come to this conclusion. I guess we actually do have a better education system on this side of the Atlantic.

Cola 01-09-07 06:41 AM

^ Word, is that like a deal where you get paid to rape chicks? If so, then fucking sign me up man.

∆ P E X X 01-09-07 01:11 PM

lmao @ the amount of halfeducated clowns that think they know what they're talking about.

i dunno about you guys, but i can't think of ONE RAPPER who was told "you're gona make it!" Every rapper hears that they won't make it. shit, everybody in every field of music hears they won't make it!!

the reality is, you don't know wtf is in peoples heads. you don't know someone's drive. or their ability. or their reach, or their plan... or...really..anything. all you know is some tracks you heard on a message board - if that.

personally i think oyd is wack. but look at atmosphere dude, they're not looking to be a slave on a major label, and they make dough. they're completely satisfied with whre they'er at in music and their fans (in minnisota) go absolutely buck wild when they see em. look at vipir records. look at baby grande. i could go on and on dude, there's artists who put out nothing but mixtapes and are fuckin loaded son, AND work at their own pace AND have full creative control of their music.

and once again, everyone told them they would never make it too.

i could go on and on man there's hundreds if not thousands of artists who aren't looking to be uber celebreties and are still completely happy in music.

Past Tense 01-09-07 01:44 PM

^^for real thats what im always thinking about to

whats the point of being famous your gonna be known as a has-been...look whats happend to yesterdays "greatest" rappers

Compose 01-09-07 01:50 PM

^completely true(to apexx)

everyone has a different definition of "making it", some are harder to do then others but you cant judge a person's entire future based on whatever they do on a message board, all these "underground" people, atmosphere, immortal tech, they all get money and are able to do whatever they want yet they're not mainstream, its not impossible

and shit nowadays you can make a living if you're an extremely good battler, going across country winning the bigger battles will get you a lot of money, you wont be rich but just cuz someone starts off on a message board doesnt mean they're destined to fail

Cola 01-09-07 01:57 PM

yeah...but Apexx blows ass......

JTR 01-09-07 02:59 PM

^^ WHOA SICK COMEBACK!!!

+50 gay points for you

JTR 01-09-07 03:10 PM

I'm saying, M.A.S is actually getting itself or is already officialised, they're gonna do shows, etc etc... I can't understand how anyone would tell them "hey you're not gonna make it" because they're actually putting their effort into this and doing what needs to be done, they're going for it and not just sitting on their ass on a computer chair like the rest of RV... They have a chance, and they're working hard, if they keep doing what they're doing then who knows what would happen. You don't know, because you can't predict the future. There's a lot of rappers who start small, and then just blow up and become huge, if it happens you're of the lucky few, if not then you're along side the rest of the struggling artists. You can't start off the best, name me one label that started off putting out platinum selling artists? You're basically telling people "hey, you got no chance, and you're gonna fail, so give up." That's a wack fucking attitude. You don't know that, and basically you're just putting people down for trying to do their dream. That's not cool man, you aren't even giving constructive criticism just simply saying "Hey you're not gonna do shit". It's THAT attitude that will keep you from succeeding, honestly. You go into the music business telling yourself "i'm gonna make it, i'm gonna be huge" you need confidence and that's what's gonna bring you to the top. Life is too short to play it safe anyways. Go after your dream, set a goal, and don't stop until you get there, tell yourself you're gonna do it, fuck what anyone else has to say, fuck what anyone else thinks, you only live once so take a risk, because the reward will be great, and if you never reach that goal, atleast you'll be able to tell yourself that you tried no matter what anyone else said, that's real strength right there, it takes a real person to do that. That's determination man, never give up

listen you've been proven to be talkin shit by numerous peopl in this thread so there's no point in making a failed attempt to downplay someone who has a conflicting opinion with yours. and don't try patronise me like you have a superior perspective to anyone...and i guess people are better at spouting shit across your side of the atlantic...you proved it with this bullshit thread...

once again ...who in the hell are you...you mean nothing to no one on this board outside of rv so your negative opinion has zero effect in the real world...1
