Better sound for my laptop

I want to get a new setup for recording and everything soon, but first I know I need better sound capabilites as a whole or else spending hundreds on recording equipment will be pointless. Can anyone who has any sort of extra knowledge tell me if this would be a good way to go? kthnxbye

Just upgrade your soundcard, get better speakers or headphones, maybe a new mic, and a good recording program which you could probably get a copy version of it. Musician friends is a good site for getting recording equipment or try e-bay or maybe see if someone is upgrading their stuff and buy their shit for cheap. If you need a recording program let me know I have some stuff. I'll hook you up my little teddy bear.

anyone telling you you need a soundcard should eat the fat end of a bat.

just go in audio assistance where you can get the answer you're really looking for in any of thousands of threads already in there instead of getting drivel from halfwits.

What do you mean? I remember I had a dope external soundcard, and then it died and I had to use the onboard card that my motherboard had. My quality was far, far worse.

yup. and there's far better alternatives that don't cost as much and will be much clearer.

unless you're recording live instruments, you don't need a soundcard.

so FastTrack substitutes as a pre-amp too correct?

all you need is FastTrack, a mic, and a comp and you're pretty much set?

a phantom and wires and that's it

and ofcourse any crap you'll need to suport the mic, like any stand and a pop filter etc, but that goes without saying.
