it really grinds my gears
when you ask someone what they listen to, and they go "oh underground rap mostly, like you know strictly, mos def, kanye, common and talib".
um excuse me? underground whom? THESE RAPPERS ARE NOT UNDERGROUND RAPPERS, they are conscious rappers (and this isn't even applicable to kanye anymore) yes, and they do rap about stuff you will not usually hear on the radio but you can ask anybody who they are and they'll tell you. thus making them not underground but conscious. |
people are more familiar with underground, if someone asked me i'd say underground cuz if i said conscience they'd be like whats that mean -_-, even though everyone here has heard of mos, talib and common so you dont even have to say underground you could just say their names, but for other emcees that a lot dont know about i say underground
|
George Bush hates black people...
^ that was the most true shit to come of Kanyes mouth...and to say that on live TV on that Katrina aid thing...werd to him  |
that doesn't make him conscious.
a lot of mainstream rappers who aren't conscious can say fuck bush in their songs and no one makes a thing out of it, it was only cause of the timing that everyone hyped it up |
Quote:
kanye is a backpack rapper still.. just kinda pushing it i usualy just say good music tho |
Quote:
Kanye is a faggot. True story. |
^ G.W. dickrider... did kanye hurt your feelinggggggs? aww. :)
|
PS - you're right pen... and lmao @ all the "concious" or "positive" rappers like we call them sometimes being from Chicago. Lupe is another one.
|
Quote:
well underground means dudes who are not normally heard by the comercial groups. underground is just another word for "local rap" but underground is also a style so it afflicts to both ways. |
Quote:
Nas, Talib, Mos Def, the list goes on and on, are all concious rappers from ny.. What are you talking about? Common, Kanye and Lupe do not = only concious rappers |
kanye is the better of the bunch but not he not underground
|
yall are idiots.
I can't fucking understand most of you. what you rap about doesn't make you underground. underground means not popular, not known in the public. retards. Underground and Mainstream -- those are the classes. but yall act like your either Underground or commerical. |
Quote:
lol @ kanye being better then Nas or Kweli, you're lost |
Quote:
Lmao, what the fuck are you talking about? First, I'm not a George Bush dickrider. Second, how would "George Bush doesn't like black people" hurt MY feelings? Roflz, if you're going to come at me at least make some fucking sense, retard. |
not nas i over looked him but *how did his last album do*Shitted on you
|
Quote:
man your the idiot, you dont even rap and your trying to critique guys who actually rap. stfu :shoot: |
Quote:
How ignorant. Since when does someone have to rap to know their music? I don't rap. I only write. |
Quote:
your a fucking idiot thats what were saying that Kanye, Common, Talib, Mos Def, none of them are underground. They are concious rappers, but are known by the average person. All of them have been on MTV. Get your ass out of here, go slice a wrist or something |
i honestly don't understand what you guys are trying to say?
yes Kayne, Common, Mos Def are mainstream. what point are you trying to get across? everyone starts underground. |
Quote:
But there not underground now shes saying she doesnt like people who say the only like underground, and name those rappers. |
Quote:
mos def> kanye talib > kanye nas >kanye common > kanye etc. you see the pattern developing here// |
^ thats your thought.
not gonna say what rapper is better than who. just want to say that their isn't never going to be a GREAT underground rapper. beacause once they great the public will like em and they'll become mainstream. |
Quote:
Youre an idiot Its all about the industry. They dont want a real rapper on the airwaves, people would realize how bad the jim jones, young jocs, really are compared to a rapper like Tonedeff, or alot of other underground rappers..(Im not a huge underground fan either, but the good rappers that do make it, get fucked i.e rhymefest) The industry doesnt want you to know, and you're the next generation, its pretty scary what the media did to you.. Makin kids who would otherwise be geeks into what they made you believe is a "thug". Just look at the recent white rapper show episode. |
hahahahahaha
ur so funny man they aint hiding shit or keeping nothing away. iono why your even comparing them to jim Jones and yung Joc.. thats a total different style of song making. their more club bangers. but no industry is hiding the underground or shit.. its the fans that make underground to mainstream. okay eminem was underground for sooo many years.. untill he started to make better music and the fans made him mainstream. obviously if ur underground and under no label then most likely industry might play a factor. |
Quote:
You dont understand how much money goes into this industry I guess. They wont risk 100 rappers careers, and there money, to get a rapper like immortal technique on the radio. Because that would 1. Go against everything else on the radio. 2. Ruin alot of rappers careers. 3. Cost them money if only one rapper on there label goes gold. Theres no time to be real to hip hop in a industry where sales have gone down so much. Btw, immortal technique is a huge underground rapper, 1 of 5 people at least, know who he is in my school. |
im not reading this bullshit. after i saw mimesis try to say something about kanye likes he's actually intellectual or something, yeah. . . that kind of killed it.
basically, WHO GIVE A FUCK WHAT YOU LISTEN TO? |
