Scientists Have Discovered "Most Earth Like Planet" To Date

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20070...et-ca02f96.html

And we're coming to fuck it over just like we're doing now

WhoAmI 04-25-07 06:53 AM

it aint even worth going to that planet for the simple reason that red dwarves would provide unstable living for anything on the planet...BUT it will still be there when our planet gets consumed by the sun so meh why not

Ebircs 04-25-07 10:43 AM

wow if they call it planet X....................................

THAT would b wierd/.....

BigTony.Self 04-25-07 12:13 PM

well a clear look at that article would suggest that by the time we could get there to fill it up that red star that it orbits could be burned out.

Tha .Q 04-25-07 12:14 PM

20 light years away

so, at the speed of light, it'd take 20 + years to get there...NON STOP!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are them worm holes when you need them?

yo fold your arms and blink thats how jeannie does it........

K.ontroverz.Y 04-25-07 04:36 PM

20 years away. hmm. so basically they'll die before they get there and bacc..

hmm

Compose 04-25-07 06:02 PM

^we cant even get to the speed of light, if we did manage to get there or go past it i think time travel will be a lot more sought after then this planet

La Cosa Nostra 04-25-07 11:29 PM

Whats the bet thats where well end up after we fuck this planet up....

Adam and eve style starting the next human race..

Were like a fucken virus I swear....

M&rk 04-26-07 12:59 AM

^^^ stop stealin lines from the matrix

Terumoto 04-26-07 03:05 AM

It's only a matter of time before we colonize other planets and shit. To get to this planet, they would need to build a spaceship that could sustain an entire community, then the people would have to live on that space ship for years and years until they reach the planet.

If they can build an artificial environment like that that can sustain so many people into a spaceship, they would have done the same and just attached it to mars or an asteroid or some other planet. Maybe the first place outside earth we will colonize will be the moon...

This reminds me of cowboy bebop lol.

Tha .Q 04-26-07 10:23 AM

They're be colony on the moon before another planet.

well in a situation like this SPACE STATION technology is the only thing that would make sence in finding new spots for plant life and sustain water.... they would need multiple fueling stations to get back and forth and with the way they make that army food im sure they can put a tremendous amount of food on each station

wrong

you're thinking of a white dwarf star....red dwarf stars last a whooooooole lot longer than that

the moon would be the stupidest place to start a colony of people on. it doesnt have gravity or scenery. whatever we build will keep getting demolished from the meators and shit that hit the moon 24/7. and it doesnt have an atomsphere. if anybody was smart they'd go to mars since its the closest PLANET where the atomsphere serves more as a barrier from meators and shit from outer space. while you can go out and breathe fresh air, enjoy the scenery and probably be ok in pants and a t-shirt. and its alot larger than the moon. its just gotta scientifically be proven that theres no deadly foreign viruses and shit like that. if you build a giant ass building on the moon that can support a community its going to be more of a giant nuthouse that turns people into mental patients with nowhere to escape. i cant take even being locked up in the house for a day let alone some giant building for years. or however long u plan on living on the moon.

i def agree with the moon idea but as far as inhabiting any planet the most sufficient peice of knowledge we need to obtain is does it have water without that we are all dead

Dufflebag Boy 04-26-07 12:32 PM

^^^we could always transport water. but the thing is we cant actually create water can we??? if we do transport water to another planet we'd be using it all up here. i dont think theres enough to go around. i dunno how we'd handle that. hopefully there is water. and they did find water on one of jupiter's moons right?? we could always probably use that somehow lol i dunno

BigTony.Self 04-26-07 12:39 PM

fortunately for anyone of us now its not gonna be an issue but def something that might wanna be addressed and hopefully we fix if we do consume another planet maybe not using every resource the planet has to offer like we did with this one

einsteins theory of time travel is that you cant travel faster than the speed of light...but the closer you get to the speed of light the slower time moves around you so basically if you were to travel near to light speed to that planet...sure 20 years would pass...but you would feel as if little time passed at all...and you wouldn' age as rapidly as time around you is because of the time distortion...so it may be possible to travel to that planet during your life span IF Einsteins theory is right...which we will prolly never know because of the
mass amount of energy that would need to be used to carry out such an extensive task...

Compose 04-26-07 01:52 PM

^yea, you need an infinite source of energy to get to and past the speed of light, otherwise the mass or whatever is going would collapse on itself, i believe thats how it works...and so far there isnt an infinite source of energy like that to provide a spaceship 20 years of travel etc. all that, but yea in earth years it'll be the same from you related to the traveler but to the traveler it will seem a lot different if you were in the ship and shits
