Can Aids be cloned?
 

Say if someone with aids was cloned. Would the clone have aids. Can cloning technology clone the aids cell. From what I hear the aids cell is constantly changing. So can it be cloned. Your insights.

Unless AIDS changes their genetic make up, a clone of a person with AIDS wouldn't have AIDS.

A clone of AIDS (which doesn't even make any sense at all) would just be the same as what the cell was like when it was cloned, and then it would keep constantly changing.

Who would want to clone AIDS? If a person with AIDS was being cloned, who gives a shit about trying to accurately clone the AIDS cells as well? Wouldn't they be trying NOT to clone the AIDS?

No...cloning takes the person's 46 chromosomes and insert them into a serogate host cell...

One thing tho...as your DNA naturally replicates, the ends of your chromosomes shorten slowly but surely...These are called telomeres...

When you clone someone, the damage done because of telomeres gets carried over...A person who is 80 years old has 80 year old DNA...a clone, even if it's cloned as a baby, would have 80 year old DNA...therefore, it's likely that cloned baby wudn't live long--i.e., depending on how much longer that 80 year old ORIGINAL would live.

If you make a clone of a person who has AIDS..... it stands to reason that The Clone of the AIDS infected person would also be infected wit the virus.... unless the clone was made prior to the contraction of the Illness...

If you had done even high school biology, or knew the slightest thing about genetics, it would be obvious.

AIDS isnt a disease that changes somebody's DNA. Cloning is based on DNA. Therefore, a clone of a person with AIDS wouldn't have AIDS, because their DNA doesn't have AIDS in it.

but anyhow wouldn't it be more important to cure it rather than replicate it in a clone?

By the time were able to replicate we might be able to cure it. Or methods of cloning to get rid of aids. Change bodies but keep one memories intact. But then...spiritual enlightenment might be invovle as in where you dont have a soul.

all im saying is that this hasnt been proven and its all theory at this point.... my " 2 cents" on the subject are that Aids is Super invasive.... how could it not lace itself into ones chromosomes and DNA .... it infects your cells.... your immune system.... So thats why im saying.... how could you clone some one w/ aids.... and the clone not have it aswell.... unless they were cloned prior to contracting this illness..... i cant accept the fact that their clone would not have aids... Perhaps in the future when technology advances to the point where this debate is no longer Hypothetical ... then maybe we can have an absolute on this matter.... but untill then... i'll agree to disagree with you gentlemen :)

You agree to disagree because you're an idiot. It isn't theory. AIDS isn't magical. You can clone the virus itself, which they've done for experimental purposes, but you can't clone a person with it and have them have AIDS. That's called biology; the debate isn't hypothetical, you're just too much of an idiot to accept this simple fact. AIDS cannot latch onto chromosomes. How can you say 'my two cents is that...' when science, experimented on and proven, by people far smarter than you, has said the exact opposite? How much more advanced do you want technology to be for us to prove it? Maybe it should be able to shrink us down so we can watch with our own eyes the supersized-version of AIDS 'infecting chromosomes'?
