"The Art of War" by Sun Tzu is...
perhaps the most useful book I've read since the bible itself...
I love it... I was wonderin tho...Let's say hypothetically everyone reads the book...Then, how does anyone break a stalemate...? Then, true to form, Sun Tzu provides an answer for that... READ IT YALL... and, if you have already read it, READ IT AGAIN! :shoot: |
Read it once a month.
|
apply it to arguments with your girlfriend
|
Aren't books like that against the Christian church?
Well not against... But condemned as sacrilegious? If you've moved past that nonsense, you might want to check out some of the other Chinese classics, or stuff from Lao Tzu or Chuang Tzu. |
i read that the artof war was found with a bunch of other strategic texts ... does anyone remember what they go by and know where to find them
|
I'm not sure. Here's a list of some other Chinese classics though:
http://www.sacred-texts.com/cfu/ I recommend reading the I Ching. |
^thank you

No..."books like that" aren't against the Christian Church... I think u may be confusing man-made doctrine and dogma for scripture... The bible portrays Satan as a "cunning enemy"...It would make sense to understand the nature of Warfare in beating any enemy, Spiritual or otherwise... Wow @ how Catholicism and other "denominations" have tainted the actual scriptures in the bible. God isn't a wimp and neither are Christians intended to be. That perception stems from weak-minded individuals. Not saying you are a weak-minded individual, but the people who perpetuate the nonsensical views of the ineptness of believers. Furthermore, in my opinion, I feel that Catholicism is the single worst calamity to ever happen in the history of Christianity. Sorry 1 |

Don't be sorry for thinking something stupid! :spit: It's clear you didn't use your head with that one. I can give you 4 or more terrible things under the definition of 'calamity' that sprung off from Christianity. First and most recent? the Salem Witch Trials. |
Quote:
^NO...you've misinterpreted...I didn't say the single worst thing to stem FROM Christianity...I said the single worst thing to happen TO christianity. That's what I meant... BTW...speaking on wut ur saying...I think the Crusades would be deemed more catastrophic than any Salem Witch hunt or trial. Christianity has been abused throughout the ages...People have used it to justify everything from slavery to homicide. Anyway, the overlying theme of the bible is seeking guidance from God. But, there's nothing in the bible that says Christians should be misinformed, quite the contrary. Difference. 1 |

I meant Christian Church like... The man-made establishment that represents Christians. Or perhaps misrepresents Christians might be a better way to put it. Books like that aren't against the core values a Christian should have. I was unsure whether you identified yourself with the establishment or the core values, now it's obvious to me that it's the latter. |

I mean...yea...u gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em... Shakespeare had the audacity to insert his damn name into the bible...in Psalm 46 UGH..so, yea, I'm def. a believer in the core values and message of Christ...hence, Christianity...lol...too many crackpots in the world tho... See "The Mist"? lol 1 |
So, with by your logic, did George Bush stem from America or happen to it?
|
Maybe everything that happens to America stems from it, and everything that stems from America happens to it?
But anyway, nah I didn't see The Mist. What is it about? |
Quote:
^^It's a Stephen King tale about mutated insects that terrorize a town when a "mist" descends upon it... But, there's this one lady who decideds to preach a fire and brimestone message in the "midst" of it all... Becomes a cultist...it's actually pretty hilarious 1 |
One question...how can you seek guidance from a God that won't talk to you?
|
Quote:
If it seems as if God isn't speaking to you, as you put it, then, check the frequency of your antenna. God has a still, quiet voice. That nudge on your conscience...that whisper in your ear (that's not yo girl)...that dream you had that troubled you...that person who spoke into your life...it's all God. If God isn't speaking, you best believe it's because you are not listening. Ask God to open your eyes and ears to what He wants from you. He'll honor it. 1 |
I want him to speak to me like a human does to another human...
I know he's not human, but was I not created in his own image? I won't accept him, until he, very obviously, makes an attempt to communicate me. Not subtle either...something that created the universe isn't subtle... |
ya that book is deep as fuck and 1 of my favorates
