btw, mixing boards arent too important seen as most software does what the mixing board does.
Alot of engineers use mixing desks/boards cause thats how they learnt. Its a new age, might pay not to waste your coin bro.

La Cosa Nostra 03-13-08 12:43 AM

this dude i know bought 14 grand worth of studio equiptment...

ill be using it for free..........

Chris Stylez 03-13-08 01:00 AM

@ gotsoul

Did you build your own studio or did you get someone else to build it for you?

Ysdat 03-13-08 01:11 AM

Built it bro. My bros a builder so he helped with the booth, I done all the studio foam n shit. As for my gear, just got coin together and bought it.

Booth in total cost just under a grand, fucking worth it though, not one bit of echo heard when recording.

have to be stupid then. Mixing boards are still very useful in this day in age. Especially if you're talking about live shows. It is possible to just have pro tools hd and have all the fucking channels and buss's you'd need but a mixing board provides a more warmn and smooth sound. I guess if you want an easy set up with a processed sound then do it up, but shit don't say mixers are worthless. They're still very vitale in this day in age.

J.Roy 03-13-08 10:26 AM

but anyways back to the subject

I go to a school for audio production so, well, I have virtually anything I want to use. But for my own personal use at home I have.

like 5 pairs of monitors. I love my tannoy's.
a Korg Triton Studio keyboard.

Sennheiser 280 HD Headphones
AKG K240 headphones
a lot of headphones
a couple of pop filters
AKG Perception 200 Condensor

What the net hears isnt what I distribute. I have a career in this offline, the net songs are the worst of the worst.

Like I said ProTools is on its way, cant just snap my fingers and have the coin for it.

Stayhating.

03-13-08 03:04 PM

^ You stay hating.

Nynth Degree 03-13-08 03:10 PM

I go to a local studio, or when I'm in Chicago I hop over to Indiana where my guy who records/makes beats lives. I never really cared what equipment they use, I just stick with making words rhyme. Same thing with price, never really cared 'cuz people bring me in on their time since I can do most tracks within 1-2 takes.

WhoAmI 03-13-08 10:37 PM

i just realised i've never heard your material 9th

send me a clip whenever you feel like it and have time n shit you already got my hotmail addy n shit methinks

J.Roy 03-14-08 09:18 PM

I really hate when people say that the quality and material of there music isn't the best online because they have a life offline. 99.9 percent of the time you're bullshitting not only us, but yourself. Fuck just representing your best offline, represent yourself the best ALL the time.

L.E 03-15-08 03:53 PM

A spoon and a bucket.

Blackmage 03-15-08 07:49 PM

Getting another MXL 990 just cause i don't care if it's perfect. Long as i can hear it and the people here feel it. Was gonna get the mxl 400 or the akg perception but my man here who records tells me the perception is about $60 over priced for its worth and if i'm going to go in on a mic $350 is proly the minimum limit cause all 1'' gold sputterd diaphragm condenser mics in a range under sound pretty much the same. Now my boy's helping me pick out the pre amp it's about 3 bills+ some by art i'm not good on the specifics of setting up a studio or anything so here's the list i guess

-MXL 990
-Art pre amp (cheap like 100 bucks don't know model)
-Sennheiser head phones (same other guy in thread had)
-Hp comp with loads of memory (mainly for Oblivion and city of heros though)
-Speakers by creative (BITCH!!!)
-Have no idea why it matters what kind of monitor i have but bro put it in so 21''flat samsung
-Pop filter and wind screen(If they're the same thing iono, cost me like $90 sum like that)
-Some kind of $150 interface so i can connect it to my damn computer

Was going to upgrade the mic and pre amp but now just upgrading the pre amp.

**Deuces**

Chris Stylez 03-15-08 09:50 PM

^^^ Yo black. Your best bet is to build your own PC. Dont buy the prebuilt crap.

Coming from the guy that seems to know it all recently.

I said I post the worst of the worst online, simply for feedback. If Im happy with a track and plan on using it, I have no reason to post it online seen as Im not searching for a internet fanbase.

Well good luck getting fans. The internet is where it is at these days. Who the fuck buys cds? I took a class about this shit. I know inside information about all this shit. Building a fanbase is building a fanbase. If they're online and like your shit and want to buy it what are you going to do with your "worst of the worst"?

J.Roy 03-15-08 11:52 PM

BTW Blackmage GET THE PERCEPTION 200, it's well worth it. The 990 works better with drums and what not. BELIIIIVE THAT

Ysdat 03-16-08 12:23 AM

What exactly do you mean by build your own pc? You mean customize the tower characteristics or what cause i never really knew what that meant.

I heard it's not so much the mic but what you run it through. I'm not really sure what the specific characteristics of a mic are or what they mean i just look at past buyer responses and prices...

I KNOW I'M LAME...

J.Roy 03-18-08 05:39 PM

^^ if you get it try to get a blues tube pre-amp. That right there with that is fucking ILLL. Oh snap it's so ill. You won't believe your ears.

Terumoto 03-18-08 07:03 PM

Yo Past Tense...

What's a link to some of your beats? I wanna check them out

Basically buy the motherboard, processor, hardrives, ram, case, and put it together. For like the same price you will get a PC that will last you so much longer.

Put it like this. A Pre built factory Desktop will last you about 2 to 3 years for like 5 to 600 dollars.

A Custom built desktop will last you about 5 to 7 years 10 or more if you get top of the line everything. for about 700 to 800 dollars.

Like my last pc that i built cost me about 650. I had the pc for like 8 years and it lasted me this long. It still runs pretty good. So invest in building your own pc and doing the labor yaself.

J.Roy 03-19-08 11:52 AM

what kind of hardware are you running with phenom?

Phenom-in-all 03-20-08 03:23 AM

At my house, jus a midi controller keyboard, and thats it man. I run 99% of my beats out of reason, and thats it. Here's my home set up. Notice the gf's cat, and my *ahem* coffee grinder on the table, with two timmy's coffees. lol. .

here's before the cpu desk at my new place:

time to get to work on a beat...

***edit... jus found this pic. soooo classic. lol hood recording central - Thats my homie Rayne recordin while holdin my Godson.
