actually it's the etymology of the words that determine how warped the accent really is. An amount of certain vocabulary didn't come into existence until land in America was colonized already. In other words, your perception that Americans have a warped accent and Americans' perception that an Australian has a warped accent only goes so far when speculated, and we'll find that in fact it is places like Australia and New Zealand that have a warped accent because their linguistics were not the same as ours until we arrived to share the lingo.

For this very reason we have places Northwest of the UK and Northeast of Canada that are allowed to say "Fook" on television as a deviation of 'Fuck', although having the same meaning, their accent determines it acceptable by the populace.
