Tha Q. 11-03-09 03:47 PM

man...screenplay I'm workin on

based on the work I did with some mentees and their struggles...goal is to write this screen play and have it adapted into a film...don't mind indie...

But...I tell you...I have a greater appreciation for writers (LE)..directors, and movie producers now...huge undertaking...

And, I have NO IDEA how to do it...but Imma delve into it anyway...hopefully God will stir me in the right direction...put the right people, places, and resources in my life to make it happen.

Is that really the poster%

Adam 11-04-09 11:29 PM

lol @ the poster..

Not even because it's such a shitty graphic and layout, but the fact that it says "In Theaters"

You crack me up.

WhoAmI 11-05-09 03:48 AM

there's nothing wrong with having ambition...but it will be a longshot getting it into theatres though, but at the same time nobody knows what the future holds so anything's possible

just be sure to train yourself to write to deadlines, cos the pros can throw together screenplays in 8 weeks or, in some cases, less

Ysdat 11-05-09 06:58 AM

Yea...I'm actually deep into the story already...

I got my hands on movie scripts from this web site someone gave me...It's a unique format and a fun process...

BTW...I don't listen to haters who pretend to know the future.

Dang man, its pretty sad you hate because hes actually doing something with his skill. While hes doing something worth doing, your just talking crap like you always do. Please grow up.

Dabatos 11-05-09 10:18 AM

Oh yeah homie if you need some pointers hit me up. I was trying to be a writer for television show a few years back. Even almost got into cal-arts (California Institute of the Arts.) Ivy League art school but couldn't get the funds to attend :(. My uncle told me whenever I finish my first draft of my book or idea of a television show with a script, He would introduce me to Mel Gibson in Valencia, Ca. But things happened and now I'm using my skill for writing sermons and bible studies lol. If you need help or want me to check out your work hit me up bro. You just reminded me how much I loved writing stories. I'll msg you the link later to the rough draft I had.

No doubt man...preciate it...I'd aways wanted to write a book...But, every time I started, I lost interest in the story-line and nixed the project. That happened about 3 times. This idea came to me in the form of a dream...I do believe God gave me this vision. So, I read some movie scripts--e.g., Pineapple Express, Beetle Juice, among others--and started writing mine.

Just 2 days in, I already have 20 pages written. It's an interesting process...

But, I will DEF. hit you up if I need more pointers on it...

1

Dabatos 11-05-09 11:58 AM

fa sho bro!! Nice 20 pages? thats good man. Yeah writing scripts is way different from writing books lol. It's interesting how the scripts go right? lol. Its fun to free write as you write the story, but for me, it would be 1000x to write a story line first than edit it as you go. Makes it a lot more easier, and you can add anything to the story line later on. Best of luck on that homie

Hahaha... few days ago you were boasting about making 200k a year and being able to do anything you wanted.

You're such a hack.

Also, I'm not talking shit, I'm just being realistic. Truth hurts.

yeah it is an interesting hobby, i had to write a screenplay when i was studying film a few years ago...also don't forget you need to limit your screenplay to a hundred n something pages (i think it was about 100-115, don't quote me on that one though) or the people that matter may not even read it.

yea...I read where it should be between 95-125 pages...

I'm at 21 pages right now...

I think this is easier than writing a novel, for me anyway, because it allows more freedom of expression.

After we lost our buisness I went back to college trying to use the skill i already have. Um, yes the truth does hurt. And I wasn't boasting. I simply stated I had that life before, and I'm more happy with the life I have with God more than I ever had with that much money.

JTR 11-07-09 09:48 AM

weren't you going to have a track out with common? And make some album that was going to be the hottest thing to hit the stores? Now suddenly those ideas don't exist anymore and you want to be a screenplay writer and get a film made and put in theaters from the first screenplay you've ever wrote because you got the idea from your subconcious picking up the images of your imagination during the end proccess of your sleep and you decided it was a sign from God?

Umm... ok. Good luck

^^^sounds about right. each written page equals about one minute of screen time. at least thats the proximity.

nice man...do it up...

It is fun tho...

I find the time flies when I get into the story.

I've been writing mine for less than 7 days and I already have 40 pages.

I plan to go to about 100...

FUnny tho...as I see the story in my head,...I'm actually telling myself I have to speed things along or I will run out of "time"...space, rather

1

J. Luth 11-10-09 02:49 PM

Yeah shit just flies. I've stopped writing since school started, but i usually beast during breaks.

But word, I've been doing so much shit on the story, that I feel like I know my main characters. Almost like they real people, as corny as that sounds. So you get a sense of what they'd say or do in certain instances.

Four inner-city high-school youths forge a unique bond with their new

teacher, Mr. Harvis, who forms a mentoring group called The Young Warriors,

based on the teachings from the military classic "The Art of War". After the

four friends enroll in the program, their strength and loyalties will be

tested as each struggle to overcome hardship and personal tragedy.

Yea....there's a specific format you can follow...Here's a link of the actual screen plays for many popular movies we've seen...I read the one for the movie Pineapple Express to learn how to write mine...

It's pretty cool

A lot of writers have their own style. So I think it'd really be better to pick up some books on screenplay writing FIRST. If you're really serious about it, you should be willing to spare $15-20 to pick up a valuable book. I have 4 books I've bought for TV screenplay writing. Tremendous help. I'm not sure what's good for movies, but if you're interested in TV writing i can suggest some.

Basically it outlines the basic requirements for how to structure the screenplay. Then look at MORE THAN ONE different screenplay. Get a feel for how people are writing it, then you can develop into what works best for you and go that way.

Tha Q. 11-18-09 07:59 PM

110 pages...

Basically finished

Wow...finishing this story felt like an avalanche compared to starting it...everything snowballed at the end.

yea...can't hurt to read about it

But, that can be crippling as well...like, taking lessons to learn how to do something...

Get so caught up in the technical aspects of things...u just forget to have fun with it...
